Lots of Optus customers are OzBargaining these this morning…

    • +4

Yep, bought my 4 kids some annual Telstra sims to end this once and for all.

      Down with Optus!

      • +1

You should have got the Woolies ones, much cheaper…

    • +5

Yep. Looks like everyone is moving to Telstra, their prepaid activation and recharge servers are having issues.

      • +1

They have had issues since yesterday. Unrelated to Optus

    • +1

the only thing chaining me to optus is the remaining balance on the phone. the savings though would almost clear it

      • +2

maybe you can call them and ask them to waive it since their service sucks.
        oh wait.
no. you cant call them :(

        • +1

when i can reach out, im bugging them anyway. enough is enough

  • +1

Awesome, just grabbed 2 for my sim hopping number

    • @japius
do you mind sharing your sim hoping setup? do you dual sim phone and the main one is parking with which provider and what plan? and the data is from ozb deals like this i assumed? any of them esim?

  • I literally just bought this last night from Coles for $22! Grrrrr

    • -1

      Return it

      • +1

        You can't…

  • +1

I bought a belong SIM from Coles this morning to try and get through the day at work (Optus)
Glad I bought and activated early

  • +1

Good timing, my 3 Months Free with More is coming up

  • Sorry belong starter pack noob here. How do you activate this for 3 months?

You activate on $29 plan initially then straight away switch to $19 so it becomes 3 X $19 = $57? And pay the difference?

    • +1

      $20 referral bonous

    • WatchNerd put the instructions in the post.

    • +5

The description is a little confusing. Check out JJPS' comment here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/808652

      • +1

I've written it differently in old posts but you still get comments asking how to do it, so I tried to simplify it.

If you have any suggestions let me know?

      • Thank you, I’ll may switch from Boost to this one for longer expiry

      • Ah it's $29+$19+$19-$20 referral bonus.

As $19 plan is only available after first month. Thanks for the link @donbot83

So, in simpler terms, if i want 100gb, it will cost $17 and last one month and then finish after one month?

The cards can be activated any time in the next 12 months?

Or i can do the link above for 3 months.

        • +1

So, in simpler terms, if i want 100gb

The starter pack has $45 value + $20 referral credit, so it's up to you how you want to use it which is why I linked to the "Belong Plans". I mainly focused on how to get the most amount of time out of it.

I think you can activate on any plan except the $19 plan. Once your account is set up (activated) you can move to the $19 plan so it's ready for the next payment date.

The cards can be activated any time in the next 12 months?

Read the last bullet point in the description.

Or i can do the link above for 3 months.

Yes that comment is a breakdown of how to use it for 3 months.

  • Bought 2, thanks OP.

  • Bought 2. Hopefully SIM cards would be properly activated. Bought from Amazon and SIMs were not activated had to return.

  • Does anyone know if these can be used as only a data SIM?

  • If you’re already with belong from last deal can you use these to top up?

  • -1

    Got one thanks, f Optus

  • Thanks. I assume for existing Belong customers you can only use this by porting out and porting back in (rather than using this to renew/add to existing credits)?

      • +1

ohh didnt even know that was a thing, its on now

    • Does it literally just add 100gb, or whatever plan, each month to your existing data stack? This is nice. When moving house or interstate on holiday etc, I tend to go over the 100gb with the family… however normal month it's less than 5gb as we have NBN at home.

      • +3

yeap, im on a 40gb plan and just adds whatever left over to the next month and so on, and now i am sitting on 1267gbs

        • Awesome. I am on NBN Belong and it's been surprisingly good, will switch mobile too.

          • @cunningdrew: they dont have a call center so thats the only thing i dont like, if and when you have an issue its all chat and emails. but ive never had any issues in the 6 years ive been with them for.

        • Maybe drop down to the $19 if you have plenty of data & save some money.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: my work pays for the plan so i aint changing it.

            • @sandman20104159: It's interesting. From what I can see, you just sit on the $55 plan for 3 months and get up half a terabyte, then sit back on the $19 or $29 plan. Am I missing something? Seems too good to be true.

              • +1

@cunningdrew: my plan is $40 for 40gbs, i started with them in 2016 and whatever unused from that 40gbs each month just adds to next the next months plus that months 40gbs. it just rolls over.

  • I am with Optus, but they recently told they are going to start charging $5 per month for my additional data-share sims. I've had 2 extra sims for my account for ten years sharing data, only reason I have stayed with them.

I digress. Can I use Belong for my Apple Watch eSim?

    • Nope

    • Same here! The best part is that back in July-August I complained about the upcoming plan changes and they put me on a new plan $9 more expensive but they said the Data share cards would work just fine! Now, 2 months later they want to charge for them🤬🤬🤬🤬

      • They did the same to me. I believe they knew all along they were going to start billing our extra sims so changed the plans and terms and conditions so they could start charging for the additional data sims. So now we are here. And we're about to leave them. Oh well.

  • Can anyone advise… is $19 the smallest monthly amount? If so, how much data does that give? Thanks.

    • Link is in the description to the Belong plans.

      • So it is :)

        • +1

did you say that in a cunning voice?

  • No International calls?

  • No eSIM..?

    • Pretty sure only Telstra does eSIM, my theory is they don't offer it to third parties so people are forced into Telstra

      • Kogan has eSIM so are some others

        • and amaysim
and maybe one or two more

  • +1

    Shit customer service

  • I think unlimited data gifting has stopped, and the max is 5 a month now

    • Where did you see this from?

This seems to suggest no limit?

      https://www.belong.com.au/support/mobile/data-and-usage/how-…

      • I got an email.
Just searched and its on the CIS pdf

        • Hmm this is from the cis on their website

          Gifting and banking data
          With your plan, you can:
          • Gift your data, in 1GB units, to another Belong mobile/data
customer up to 5 times per month.
          • Bank any unused data at the end of the month.

I read this as you can gift 5 times per month, in whole GBs. That is, it needs to be a round number and not half GBs for example.

Is the wording you received different? And if so, was there an effective date for this change? (as there would be a discrepancy from many of their sources)

          • @SmiTTy: Its always been whole gb i thought.

The change is used to be unlimited sending,i think, now 5 per month.

  • Sorry, stupid question but I'm new to all of this: can I buy 2 of these and the use the second one after the first one expires? Do I have to make a new email/port my number around? Thanks!

    • I would assume ud need to port out and port back in to use the same number as it's not a recharge (it's a starter kit)

I guess u could get a boost with cashback

  • Is there a way to escalate an issue outside their Indian customer service centre?

  • Can someone confirm I can port my existing number using this

    • +2

Yes, as long as your number isn't already with Belong.

  • Cheers, picked one up this morning in-store. Although the packaging was for $45/80GB though. Don't think it matters? Was same barcode and same $17 price.

  • Cheers, picked it up, switched from Optus post paid, took about 45 minutes all in all.

  • I wish I looked into these deal before spending too much on a yearly boost mobile pack. Seems way better value. Get 100 gb every 3 months and just port to another provider inbetween times.

    • +1

so total in a year you need to spend $17+$2 x 4 = $76, with porting every 3 months, the hassle to get the new sim, risk of porting issues and stresses
why not just get coles mobile for $99 -60GB for a year and have free of mind ($20 more) ? unless 60GB a year is not enough ..

      • Telstra network vs Optus network.

And I use a lot more than 60gb a year unfortunately.

        • +1

ok got it. i dont mind every 6 months but 3 is still too often

  • Would switching back to the $19 plan after the first month mean you only get 5gb data?

  • used to be better when belong didn't increase the basic plan price & you could stretch out the credit for much longer

  • i do not have an account. so how do i get a ref code? thanks

  • Can any advise does it include $45 credit/recharge value + $100GB, or you have to choose between $45 and $100GB? If the latter, how and where I can choose between the two?Thank you.

    • Link to the plans are in the description.

      • Thanks! I might be stupid here…the package says $45 100GB, so do I have to go for the 100GB plan, or I can go with lower plans, as you said the $29/mon plan? If I can go with lower plans, this product is literally $45 Belong credit for only $17. Am I correct? Thank you.

        • Just activated mine. So for $17, you get $45 of credit, plus the $20 for the referral code. Because I activated on the $29 plan, I only get 25GB data

  • What happens when you plan runs out and you haven’t switched to another provider? Does your number go back into the pool for reallocation?

    • yes. after certain time. check the t&c for each provider.
i say one week is safe but yeah take the risk

      • The plan never runs out though. Money gets debited from your credit card every month unless you port out or cancel your account.

        • Oh sorry I was thinking the prepaid 1 month or 1 year from Kogan or boost

  • Has anyone had any luck deleting their customer account after porting out?

I notice when I port in, if I used the same email address previously, the system deems me as an existing user

    • Yes, when you port back to Belong you need to use a different email address to previously so it's seen as a new account. Otherwise you don't get any credit for using a referral code.

    • If you have a Gmail address then just use the Gmail dot trick.

  • Telstra couldn't verify both my driver's license and passport. Does anyone have the same issues?

  • Where do you enter the referral code. I don't see any box on the payment screen

  • Dang missed this deal. Hopefully they bring it back for BF
