What Are Some Products or Categories Where You Only Trust a Single Brand?

I was recently out at Bunnings buying some adhesive pads, and over the years have realised everytime I buy any adhesive product which is not manufactured by/with 3M, I end up regretting it.

3M's adhesion quality seems unmatched.

This got me thinking - do you have any go-to brands that you trust implicitly? What are they?

How long since you tried Red Rooster? KFC gotta lift their game

      • +1

Nearest red rooster is 100km away from me ☹️

    • I find with KFC it depends on the shop. Unfortunately the ones closest to me regularly sell dry horrible chicken.. so I avoid them.

Washing machine - Bosch Series 8

Fridge - Mitsubishi (been using top mount one for 10+ years)

Air conditioner - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

      LG washing machine for me

with long life white goods very easy to find one that youll swear never to touch again, but then you may only ever have a handful that each last 8-12 yr over the course of your life.

This isn't an answer to the OPs survey, it's just a bunch of brands you like. Your opener has 3 brands in it…

Are you literally saying you wouldn't trust any fridge not made by Mitsubishi, or running shoes made by anyone other than ASICS? LOL

      • +1

Yea they are the brands I do trust and actually buy and use and wouldn’t consider something else unless you can change my mind. You’re right I didn’t just specify one brand and product but I wouldn’t go outside what I listed based on my experience

For the fridge yes I do trust Mitsubishi and wouldn’t consider other brands having used one for over 10 years problem free.

Have experienced Westinghouse, LG and Samsung fridges and seen issues within a few years (temp issue, thought seal replacement would fix but didn’t work). Samsung customer service has always been appalling for me with their phone warranty and the fridge

Running shoes I’ve tried all different brands and fit is very subjective. Tried mizunos, new balance and brooks and fit has been always off. So yea no way I’m wasting time and money again on other brands

How about some the brands that you like for those categories just to get some other perspective?

See how far down the road you get with your Bosch washer. My Miele had its first malfunction after 31 years; Miele dryer 27 years, Both still repairable but I treated myself to newer models.

    • Nice wish list for me!

Anker for most hubs and batteries. When my 23 yo Asko washing machine finally dies it will be a Bosch, or another Asko if their rep can ever improve.

Next fridge to replace 20 yo Kelvinator will probably be a Mitsubishi. Still awiting for the 18+ yo 2nd hand Miele bottom of the line dishwasher model to die too, probably another Miele (or a Bosch, or an Asko).

Yes I'm hanging on to the golden age of appliance manufacturing with the skin of my teeth :D am also prepared to be disappoint

For me it is about manufacturer… So much of branding these days is corrupted by marketing were it can be a called premium brand but what they sell is cheap rubbish. Fizzy drink and hamburger chains seems to pioneer this type of marketing.
I look for brands that design and or make what they sell and have good long term reputations. Like 3M , Sika , Sony , Samsung, cisco, apple etc. Other wise I head to aliexpress and look for cheap as so often cheap on Aliexpress is the same thing that marketers sell for premium prices in Australia . So stuff like underware, tshirts etc I buy cheap from aliexpress and they are usually no different in quality from premium brands, but of course they do not have the expensive label on them
