Cheapest way to access Telstra Plus points

I have 45k Telstra Plus points sitting in an old account with no active services so I can't access them.
Will a Telstra $2 prepaid sim give me access to them?.

UPDATE:
I moved two Boost services over to Belong and while my Telstra account still shows no active services I can now access my rewards points again?.

A mobile broadband data service also works, see this.

maybe check to make sure the points have not expired?

    • I have checked the first lot of points don't expire until April 2024.

Telstra is month to month, so if prepaid starter won't work then the cheapest mobile data for a month will. I don't think there's much in the rewards store worth it atm tho.

    • The issue is that if you do not have an active service, you may not redeem the points as fast as others. In other words, the popular products may be OOS before you activate the service, not to say delay may occur.

      • Well I got about the same amount of points as you, so I recommend you don't have an active service so there's more chance of me getting a good reward.

Telstra 5G - $1 for the first month if you can get 5G at home

  • Give access to someone with an active account and transfer

It used to for me (and others on here), but maybe they're closing that loophole? The last time I activated a $2 SIM without selecting a plan was on 20/9/23, and it didn't count as an active service.

Guy at the Telstra store said he could help me redeem as he could see the points and the market on the shops computer

  • Merged from Free or Cheapest Telstra Plus Access

I was interested in getting Seinfeld tickets and can see Telstra Plus members get a 3-day presale next week. I've never had Telstra Plus, I'm happy with my Woolies mobile plan.

What's the cheapest or free way to get a Telstra ID so I can get Telstra Plus benefits? Hoping people in here have more experience with it.

    • Boost Mobile will give you access, it did for me last year

    • $2 SIM is a quick and easy way

    • You also need an active Telstra service, not Boost/Woolies

Legit was discussed yesterday and day before

    • But I don't think it will be ready for next week.

  • Seems Telstra are cracking down on freeloaders. I have had an account with no active services for a few years which had a email and non-Telstra mobile attached to the account details, now when I try and login, it comes up this message :(

    Two-step verification
To protect the security of your account, we need to complete an additional authentication step. We refer to this as a two-step verification.

As we don’t have any contact details listed on your account, we’re unable to complete the two-step verification. This means you’ll need to visit a Telstra store with a valid ID. You can find our nearest store here.

Please remember to bring in a valid form of ID. If you’re a small business customer, please bring in a letter/document with your business’ letterhead on it.

I'm assuming they have deleted my contact details because I didn't have an active service?
