You have to wonder why they didn't make these panels 100" instead of 98. Surely from a marketing point of view it'd make more sense?
Its because they cut multiple screen sizes from a large sheet which means they optimise the sizes, cut to whatever provides the most yield. For example a sheet might be cut up most efficiently using 98 inches but incur more waste and/or less other screen size yield if cut for 100 inches.

The recommended viewing distance is 3.6m, so probably won't be able to see the 0.5mm pixels at that distance

I'm researching a similar TV purchase.
Samsung didn't get great reviews. Seems like the go is either a TCL 98C745 or 98C845 (about as good or maybe better than Samsung for much cheaper or cheaper respectively). Or you go for the Sony X90L which is about the same as the Samsung, but seems to be the best 98 without paying 20+ for a OLED.
I'd welcome thoughts/reviews/perspectives, but I'm holding out for Black Friday at this rate.
