      I wish it was Optus

      • Why? Are you giving up the web?

I used their Unlimited when it was $35 and got the first month free when I joined. I had no wifi at the time and used it to hotspot for gaming and it wasn't too bad. Pretty good value if you need a lot of data.

Just a word of warning - if you ever have any payment issues such as credit card expired as they can't bill or PayPal payments that have failed… You will automatically lose any promotion applied… They will not reverse the issue and you will be charged the full amount for which ever plan…

This happened to me unknown as I fixed the expired credit card, but the promo cancellatione emails was going into spam folder. Next months bill I checked and promo was automatically removed and resorted to paying full price ..I ported day later seeing this…

So you're blaming them for emails going into your spam folder and not updating your CC. Seems legit.

They give you two days without penalty to make a payment if it fails the first time

    • I signed up for first 3 months 50% off at $17.50 a month .I used nearly all the first month and was going overseas so put the account on hold which is a good addition i think. But upon return i went to activate account again but was told i would have to pay $40 a month now ,i left account on hold.

      • The $35 people got grandfathered in.

They have a really good roaming option as well. Port to them before trip, sign up for promo, add the roaming pack, then cancel when you get back!

    • I was just about to do this as my Coles mobile is expiring tomorrow! More importantly I want to see how vodafone fares for me. I left them during the Vodafail debacle and hear good things about them these days.

  • I've been using them for home internet for ages now, very pleased. Streams everything beautifully, no probs. I use an old 4G phone connected to a travel modem to connect everything.

    • may I know what travel modem you are using for this? thanks!

GL-iNet M750 travel router. From Amazon.

        • thanks so much mate for the speedy reply!

  • Seems like the best choice in the market currently for someone who is looking to travel soon and want a cheap international data roaming pack. Beats the $5/day plan with Vodafail and Optass i reckon.

Or recommend me a better plan?

  • Will this work on a Vodafone locked 4G phone if I intend to use it as a WiFi router?

  • Worried about the lack of 5G since in my area Optus 4G is crap (one bar signal) while Vodafone 5G is 4 bars

    • can confirm this does not have 5G (i'm on this network and am in metro where i know there is Voda 5G). just to be clear, this is on voda's network so you might want to check how your area is like with Voda 4G connectivity before coming onto this plan.

  • Could anyone confirm if Felix requires you to reply to a Text Message (SMS) from your existing number using existing network, if I am porting to Felix?

Asking this, as my number is out of Credit and I won't be able to reply to the Text Message although I can receive Incoming Messages without any charge. There are some operators which require replying to a Text message, whereas some others just require you to input the code on screen during the port process.

    • I know with Vodafone you need to reply with the number they send in the text, likely the same with Felix.

      • Thanks. I checked in Felix FAQs and it does mention:

The pre-switching SMS will be sent to your previous SIM card, so make sure that it's active still in your phone. It can take up to ten minutes to arrive. If you're currently on a prepaid plan, you shouldn't need to have any credit to reply to the SMS.

Any idea how does the reply to the SMS work even if we dont have any credit on the existing network?

Some others have confirmed they were able to reply from an Optus SIM and Boost SIM Card
without any credit while porting to Kogan. I'm assuming it will be similar since both Kogan and Felix use Vodafone network.

        • Not sure sorry, one way to find out!
