Great prices (obligatory to add: these days).

  • Great deal, anything for June 24?

Try book via emirates website and use the code AUEBOOK. It worked for me during dates not included in the eligible travel period

      • Presume this code is for Emirates not Etihad. No dice for me.

      • could you please share how much discount did you get with that code?

    • June you are looking at mid $3k if not high now.

      • What if high?

You need to wait until the plane lands

  • flying Etihad for early 2024

I don't know if I can call this a deal but during that period is full cold Winter (not sure about Madrid) and there is nothing exciting to do because people are back to work.
It's not a holiday period so these flights are only good for some people who go back to their homeland and don't care about doing tourism.

The other (glass half full) way of looking at this is:
      -no summer crowds
Easy to get into museums or galleries you would otherwise have to queue for hours for in summer
Accomodation cheaper than peak summer season
      Northern hemisphere skiing (yay!)

      • +1

again, agree. The off season & shoulder season is still a good time to travel - less crowds, everything is cheaper and no stifling summer temps in some of these land locked cities. And cheaper flights, of course :)

          everything is cheaper

          LOL

        • Never been to any europe country. Tried to follow comments in these sections, but when is the economic time to visit Switzerland Alps (not necessarily cheapest) where i still can drive and see some snow (on the mountains)… Would autumn (sep-nov) be shoulder season over there?

And if i can survived January winter in Japan and Seoul Korea i would survive in Switzerland? Heard winter in Europe is no joke.

Looking for white Christmas (or Jan school holidays) over there but happy if that is low season

      • Easy to get into museums or galleries

Depending on what city or location you go, some museum and galleries are closed during the non touristic seasons. :)

Accomodation cheaper than peak summer season

It depends if you go stay in touristic places where most of the avenues are closed so it's only your pet and you but if you go to the main cities (non touristic areas) you still pay high standard fees and enjoy the crowded traffic because people are back from the holiday LOL

        Northern hemisphere skiing

The higher season where you pay for the most expensive resorts, hotels and restaurants and where a coffee sets you down $20-30 LOL
Also don't forget the negative AUD VS EU conversion rates and fees! LOL

  • Just a note of caution with the "free accommodation". Plenty of horror stoties online where Etihad failed to provide hotel in case of long layovers. Just google it.
In my case, I bought overpriced tickets back in June, to travel end Nov this year, lured by their "Etihad guest" offering of free hotel nights. Turned out to be a hoax, as experienced by others here on OZB as well. YMMV though you have been warned.
In my case, Etihad probably never again!

    • I was also unable to claim the hotel.
