Interesting, this charger is advertised to support OPPO/OnePlus/realme 50W SuperVOOC.

    • Valuable Insight

  • I bought 1 will report about charging with surface book and max power it supports, heat etc. when i get it. I have been waiting too long, kinda was sick of waiting any further for lack of type c laptop chargers (at home then need to carry same one outside home too)

There has been plenty of deals on 100W chargers in the past, especially small/compact ones for travel.

Zyron is a brand that comes to mind and very reliable from my experience.

      • yeah i had been tempeted to buy them (then thinking of that $15 ish aliexpress gan deal that Clear posted thinking that might come back soon), or been very busy with other stuff.

At the end now sick of waiting too much, wish I was free during that 100W deal from last time (or that 65W for $19.68 ish)

wait never mind the aliexpress deal is back in stock again but at $22 ish (but again IDK if I trust that brand, may just stick to this amazon one, unless i get some good feedback from a few people who bought that aliexpress deal)

Zyron also has insulated pins, which should be a given.. but it does look like NOVOO doesn't have them.

        • +1

Oh wow that would be a deal breaker for me, especially with kids in the house. Only been mandatory on all AU plugs since 2005

Can confirm it has insulated pins

          Got mine today

          https://i.imgur.com/qfI7jLs.png

Can also confirm that it charges my surface book 2 fine

          • @USER DC: That's good, legislation says they have to.
Just hard to trust those stock images but good to know ;).

            • @G-rig: their europe plug also has insulated pins also, (US one I am unsure about)

      • 65W models are significantly smaller and lighter. Zyron 65W (120g) was about half the weight and size of the 100W one (250g) and this one is only about 100g.

  • But is this a genuine NOVOO?

    • +1

It does say it's sold by the Novoo Store on Amazon so probs legit

  • What’s Cactus think?

    • Don't think Cactus has time to open every generic charger on the market. If you are looking for a quality product, don't buy any of these random brands.

      • +1

Please stop underestimating cactus’ commitment to GAN chargers smh

Nice that it includes a 100W usb-c to usb-c cable.

Haven't tested these yet, but it seems to be the only non proprietary/included charger to offer SuperVOOC protocol that I can see so if you have a Chinese phone that supports it then that's good. This works just fine for PD and QC but note worthy is that it does NOT support Samsung AFC if you utilize that on newer phones.

The pins are not Australian, they are the Chinese standard which are slightly smaller iirc and do not have insulation on them, so consider that it's a bit of a safety hazard if you're plugging and unplugging frequently, and that it may be either tight or loose on certain power boards/wall outlets.

This package size seems very very promising so I'll give it a test and see how it is - because if it's any good that would then make the ANKER NANO 2 which for the longest time was the only 65w charger this small, a completely redundant of a unit and then this could be a viable option for a charger at this size for half the cost.

    • Good point, most people just care about the cheapest price and can't refuse when they see the word GAN lol.
Safety and Australian standards should count for something, I usually trust anker though.

      • chinese plugs don’t have the insulation on the pins, australian ones do, have ordered and if it’s not insulated will send back … illegal to sell commercially non compliant electrical equipment. hopefully is for australian market and not just chinese model being sold locally without compliance.

        • I guess they won't mention it in the specs, how can you tell? It's it safe to assume none of them have it (what about ZYRON 67W GaN Charger and Anker)?

Doesn't look like it has in the pics, Chinese would be different pins (two vertical ones).
          Amazon free returns anyway ;).

Edit: just looked it up, https://testandtagperth.com.au/articles/insulated-pins#:~:te….

Just checked my Anker 323, has insulated pins.

          • @G-rig: has insulation on the power pins for Australia ….. mine arrived arrived today, have the tick, etc.

The size of this looks amazing. Must resist. Have too many gan chargers already!

    • yeah size is very tiny, at uni there are some places that cannot take macbook usb c charger as they are too big, so this one gonna be perfect for that purpose.

how much did ya pay for the other ones ?? I was yet to jump to Gan (from the good old macbook type C chargers- 87W tradtional silicon one i think)

      • +1

Around $21 for a 67w one, $27 for a 100w one, $150 for a 270w one, $95 for 100w one in 2020, and a few other 65w ones that was purchased when gan was still new and I can't remember how much I paid for them. Yes, I have a problem! Haha

  • sad to inform that mine heats quite a bit, (more than what the Macbook charger used to get hot upto)

  • Can confirm that the pins are insulated.

Pixel 8 Pro shows it as a rapid charger. Just a brief check, but was about 20mins quicker to charge to full from about 50%, than a standard charger.
Charges my OLED Switch pretty quickly. About 10% in 7-8mins
Charges my Dell laptop, charge level was increasing while in use, bright screen, etc.
Weight is 95g without the cable. And is much smaller than the standard switch charger.

Used it for about 20mins, and it barely got warm.
