Issues with Everyday Pay Wallet

Hello everyone,

I’d like to share some information. The Woolworths Everyday Rewards app wallet allows you to add gift cards and credit cards for payment. It’s a great feature, prioritizing gift cards before using your credit card. However, I’ve experienced delays and transaction declines with no receipts or transaction details after gift cards were deducted. The first time, I assumed an error on my part, but the second time, even though my gift cards were charged, the store manager had me pay again. Be cautious to avoid wasting time and money.

Look like someone else had this issue like me :

My last update: 1300 109 729 option 2 was very helpful. They got my details and were able to trace my gift cards. I only had the receipt when the Store manager asked me to pay again. I was told it would take 3 business days but the gift cards came to me after 4 hours to my email.Oh also they gave me $40 extra for the trouble. So case is closed now. Thanks all

  • Never had an issue personally. I'd be curious to see if others have had an issue.

What was the interaction with support like to get your money returned?

Good to hear its working for some one. I be Using gift-cards manually from now on.

Interaction with support was to email with details not sure cause its the weekend.

If this works for you , could be cause i buy-the gift-cards on the same day as the purchase or the amount is too high like $300 but It worked the 2nd time round.

      • Isn’t the gift card limit like $4,000?

I've been using the app for about a year with the 4% off giftcards I buy from Macquarie bank. I've never had an issue so far.

This! TBH before the integration with Everyday Pay I CBF getting the 4% off and using the discounted cards, as it took too long at checkout, and if the gift card had less then the transaction amount it took ages to process both separately.
Now with Everyday Pay its all done automatically, and it has made these discounted cards super convenient - I use it often.

I use a variety of gift cards too, from smaller ones earnt with points on my credit card, to ones above $500 - sometimes even purchased and added while I'm still in store.
They've also added a "add to everyday pay" in the email with the cards when purchased online, which makes my life even easier aha.

    • Great news - Is it some sort of iPhone issue then ??
I have the exact same issue as this guy - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/798916
I use Smartsalary 5% discount , but learn the hard way now its not worth my time n money.

It might be. I am using android.

I removed credit/ debit card and just scan the gift cards that are in the Rewards Wallet. Click Wallet, click Gift Card (showing the total amount of gift cards loaded), it will show each individual gift card, click the small bar code on the gift card then it will show the bar code to scan and the PIN. Tedious but I'm sure the gift cards will be used.

    • Thanks will do that moving forward.

Had an issue once when the transaction was stuck but nothing was taken. However the app was locked at the stuck payment screen for like an hour.

    • Same. I scanned the QR code but the screen hung. I couldn’t get the checkout assistant to cancel it. I said could you restart the terminal because i dont want to pay for next customer. They didnt do it. Had to wait a while before the app let me scan qr code again.

While it made me very anxious, it happened only once.

You can add giftcards to EDR App without ED Pay setup now, i.e. no debit/credit card needed. Account login required.

    It’s the most pathetic app.
I have run into issues similar to yours.
This particular happens when you have gift cards of smaller denominations and it tries to process payments in sequential order.
The integration is pathetic with lot of latency delays and implementation of error handling is not implemented consistently across their systems.
If you have a bigger denomination gift card which covers your entire purchase mostly the app will not cause any issues.
I wish these guys had got the Amazon way and added fund to gift card wallet rather than saving the gift card to process each one later.

    • Agree - Ok May be you are correct. I purchased $50 gift cards and the transaction was $300. The EFT matching took awhile saying "processing" then declined. Look like time out issue as too many small gift cards on the app.

Ive used this app for a while now. Purchase GC from smartsalary and macquire. No issues on this part.

The only issue ive had is when i cant get signal and the app fails! It should have some offline mode.

  • I've been overcharged ~$30 twice in the last few months due to glitches with the Everyday Pay system. The only reason I found out was by adding up everything on my receipt and then had to chase up Woolworths support for hours afterwards.

I also had the same issue you had once where my gift card was charged with no receipt but I just walked away because I could see in the gift card balance that it had been deducted.

I've tried to reconcile the transactions in the Everyday Rewards app but they are full of glaring errors where the digital receipts are different from the physical, the system is obviously very buggy.

Make sure you check each transaction you do with Everyday Pay.

  • This happened to me yesterday. Had 2 gift cards loaded in my Everyday Pay wallet that were both charged during the payment and then SYSTEM ERROR occurred with a “declined” result. Checkout assistant and service counter worker said the payment didn’t go through and I had to pay again with another payment method and wait for the amounts to go back to my gift cards.

It’s been over 12 hours and the amounts still have not come back to those gift cards. What’s the course of best action to take- go back to the store and raise it with the service counter or contact Woolworths customer service directly?

I have the screenshot of the “Paid” screen from the Everyday Rewards app, along with screenshots of both amounts being deducted from the cards. I also have the Declined slip from the checkout machine I used when it had the SYSTEM ERROR occur.

  • I am experiencing this same issue for the second time in 3 months. SYSTEM ERROR

In the first instance I opened a ticket via the main Woolworths everyday rewards IVR. Nobody came back to me even after me following up a couple of days later. On my second call they suggested I should sort it out with the store which I did after a long wait.

Thanks op for posting the 1300 number. They said they can sort this out and will add $25 extra for the trouble. I am yet to get my refund.

  • Everyday pay has once again been hacked. My gift card balance dissappeard. Phone support just times out constantly so cannot report it.
Continual problems it seems with security on system.
