Man that's hardly a deal. Meta is going to discontinue these in 1year

My first gen one is… just sitting there.

Worst part is that when the 2 came out most developers decided to just make games for the 2. It'll likely happen with the 3.

I still use mine maybe a few times a year - not enough to justify the $620 I spent 4 years ago.

When the quest 2 sells for a couple hundred less than the OG… it makes little sense to bottleneck on the lower specs of the Q1

    • It's a deal. These dropped in price a while ago, and it's still a perfectly fine vr headset even with the quest 3 around. If you can afford a pc vr setup, they become even more useful as well.

    • When Facebook Portals went on sale, they were discontinued within a year and half the apps, such as Teams, no longer run. Same thing for the Meta Quest 2?

  • Is the return for just Meta Quest 2 or can i buy 3 to try and return before 31 January if I don't think it's worth the price tag

    • One online chat person confirmed it is a trial period

  • 256GB cheaper on Amazon @ 499, https://www.amazon.com.au/Oculus-Quest-2-Virtual-Reality-Hea…
EDIT; unless you use the store credit link

    • If you mean the referral link credit, you should also be able to get that when activating a headset bought from Amazon (if you haven’t already received referral credit for a headset in the past at least).

      • How does it work exactly if you want to use a referral but buy from Amazon?

        • You accept the referral on your Meta account (creating one in the process if you don’t have one), and then when you first activate a headset on the same account you should get the credit. (That’s how it used to work with Quest 2 at least.)

  • Probably a lot of them already in Alkimos

Quest 2 was the best selling VR headset by a huge margin. It would be in developers best interest to make games for it the next couple years. I wouldn't be too worried about picking one up in 2023. You won't find a better headset for the price. My only gripe is that it's uncomfortable and heavy and needs a third party headband to be okay. Even still it's quite heavy for doing exercise and long sessions.

  • Hate the IPD adjustment on this thing, doesn't feel right no matter which option I choose.

    • did you know you can do half points as well?

      • How?

        • Push it half way and it will stick

      • Yeah, hasn't really helped me though

I'm waiting for the Quest 3 Lite in 2024. It will be priced similar to the Quest 2 and, hopefully, it will be a reskinned Quest 2 with an improved headband and new processor.

I use mine every night before bed for youtube and movies. Never for VR.
I work late and I get home pop it on with earbuds. Mrs can't hear nor see any bright screen to whinge about keeping her up.
Then I put on ASMR at the end to kill me for the night.
    I love it.
I upgraded from quest 2 to quest 3 and is worth it. Boots and feels quicker and screen resolution is better for 4k movies and content.

    • Can you see any pixels when you're watching 4k movies?

      • Not that i can see and i have 20/20 vision. i'm really happy with it.

      • shouldnt you be able to see pixels when watching movies ? specifically 8,294,400 of 'em in 4k

        • My eyes can also see the rgb values of each individual pixel as well.

  • Used twice and sold. I'm not a gamer so couldn't wear it for more then 10 mins. But watching corn was a good experience on this.

  • The price at Meta is now the same as Amazon
