good pricing. Now where's JB with a flash one night only 10/15% off? cmonnnnn

    • Maybe Sunday??

      • +2

        Normally Wednesday.

        • On jb 'mega price blitz' and perks email saying add stuff to cart for specials coming on Sunday.

          Otherwise yeah Wednesday

  • +1

Really good deal, was about to post as well.

Been eyeing this for quite some time.

  • +1

50 inch for under a k. anyone else think theres anything better for the price for a car sim rig?

  • Is this OLED? Or have HDMI 2.1?

    • +1

      Nah Mini LED.

    • +2

Mini LED, yes to hdmi 2.1 and earc

    • +2

This is mini LED. It draws more power and will cost more to run compared to an OLED or a normal LED TV.

      75" TCL C845 => 956Kwh per year @ 35cents = $334

      77" LG C3 OLED => 561Kwh per year @ 35cents = $196

      77" LG B3 OLED => 579Kwh per year @ 35cents = $202

Source. Go to specs and see Power Consumption (kWh/yr)

      • +5

These measurements are done at maximum brightness so take them with a grain of salt. The power draw at the same brightness will be similar.

The MiniLED is around 4x brighter so no surprise that it uses more power

      • +4

Yes, MiniLED will consume more energy/power.

But also, the LG ones are more than double (or triple) the price.

You'll still be ahead at 10 years running at full power with the TCL.

  • +1

I knew I pulled the trigger too early buying before black friday but I was impatient. This is a good deal.
I got the 85C845 a couple weeks ago for $2915 delivered.
Q990b Soundbar should be delivered tomorrow for $899

    • +2

just about to return my q990b heap of shit with disconnection issues all the time. hopefully its not the same for you

  • Whats the lowest price C845 has gone?

    • For 75" this is the lowest so far.

  • Is TCL a better brand than Aldi's brand coming up for $629 only for 70 inches SMART UHD TV.

    • +4

Of course, a lot better and it is mini LED, if you compare with ALDI unknown brand.

    • +1

      Lol

    • +2

3 year warranty on TCL if that helps with your decision

    • +15

This TV is essentially the best NON OLED Tv. Anything that cost more is way too close to OLED $ and you should buy that.

      Tiers of TV are Essentially

Bottom - Aldi, JB Home Brand
      Low Tier - TCL C7 - series
Mid Tier - TCL C8 - This TV - Best bang for $
High - Oled (Avoid Samsung as no Dolby Vision) LG best value, Sony best Tv

Hisense have a few tvs that fit in the mid and low tier but I would buy TCL over them.

    • Aldi TVs are pretty crap… Couldn't even get a JBL soundbar working properly with it a 4k 60" 9non-smart) that I bought my parents a couple of years ago.. The sound was crap from the TV. I had a great 42" Bauhn back in 2007, but I don't think I would go for an Aldi TV again…

  • Purchased the 85" 3 weeks ago. I think $3200 and got a $200 gift card. Wonder if there is discretion for the timeframe on price protection policy

    • I am interested to know the same :) Please share if you get any confirmation anywhere.

      • +3

I called the store, double checked with manager they would refund difference if i bring in receipt within 28 days. Excellent

        • My store was firm on 14 days :(

    • I just had a chat with jbhifi online , they said they have a 30 day price protection I can send the screenshots to you if you like

      • can you please send this to me, I didnt think that was a thing with JB hi fi

        • +1

Yes of course I can send the email transcript if you like or just a screenshot

      • Please send me screenshot too. Thanks mate.

        • You can dm your email , I don’t know how to sen screenshots here I have the whole transcript via email

    • +1

Same here. I had a chat with jb. They are refunding me the difference which is about $500 ish. Also, didn't mention what to do with the giftcard. I guess I can keep it.
So $2688 and $200 jb credits for me.
      Very good TV. Love it.

  • If the price drops further for this model say till Boxing day sale, do you think we can return this one and get the new deal?

    • Anything's possible, let us know how you go. Maybe even try return it 2 black fridays away

    • I am on the same boat, but thinking of pulling the trigger on 75" now

  • Can use 15% off gift cards from Coles which is coming up next week?

    • Which card?

      • TCN

        • Do the gift cards stack? Looks like we can buy max 5 per person, if there's two of us… Can we stack 10 gift cards at the JB checkout?

    • Yes :)

    • waiting for that as well

    • Will there be tv stocks till then ?

  • +5

My magical mind is holding out for a Sony 75 deal around this pricing.

    • I wish too but I’m tempted to pull this trigger right now

    • which Sony are you looking at getting that's comparable to this?

      • The only sony mini led is the x95. Looking at $4k

        • +2

You don't need mini led to compete with this tv, Sony's x90k is arguably better.

          • +1

@TEER3X: In terms of processing and colour yes, quite a lot of blooming though on the x90k so wouldn’t say it’s better all round

            • @cille745: I'm just making a point that you don't have to compare a mini led to a mini led.

Anyway, the last review I read had the Sony out on top, but I'm still keen on the TCL as I thoroughly believe they're the best bang for buck.

Unless I decide to hold out for the new models that feature the pentonic chips

  • Great TV. The sound and built in sub are really good, don't need to run my separate soundbar anymore and save that extra space and cabling.

    • +2

I dont know about that, my YAS108 without a sub puts out more base and better audio. I've since moved to a 5.1 home theatre and thats been a giant leap again.

Don't get me wrong its not bad, but it doesnt fill the room, and definitely cant compete with even mid teir sound bars.

    • +1

I have the 75 C835 and I agree that the sound is very good. The sound seems to have improved with time - maybe due to the speakers needing to be played in. (or my worsening hearing !)
Picture quality is great - but the software is a bit temperamental.

      • What do you mean about the software being temperamental? As in laggy? I'm looking at upgrading from a cheap kogan TV to this and was hoping the OS system on this is snappier.

  • Looking at this TCL in 50 inch along side the Samsung CU8000 for a bedroom TV

Was leaning towards the Samsung as i have a 65 inch in the living room and happy with that but this TCL looks good which is mini LED compared to LCD panel.

Anyone have TCL can comment on how snappy it is, turning on changing channels/apps etc? I know some cheaper ones take ages to even turn on!

    • +2

It runs Google on board. You won't be disappointed in it I don't feel.

Go into a store a test. But it's good

      • +2

I recommend any TV get a google TV or Fire stick anyway. Even the top TV's benefit. Honestly for $50 it shouldn't be a consideration into your TV purchase.

        • +2

My TCL 635's inbuilt OS is considerably more responsive than my CC with Google TV, and I can only assume the newer, higher end models are more responsive again.

    • +1

They just updated it, wasn't this morning but Hardly Normal.

  • -3

Better of spending a few dollars more and getting a Sony.

    • +1

a few dollars more and getting a Sony.

      Link?

        • +2

          You said a few dollars.

      • -6
        • +4

          X77L very low end TV

            • +2

@CowFrogHorse: X77L, IPS LCD vs TCL C845 mini LED.

Big difference, check it out yourself in store.

              • @superforever: what about against any of the Sony's ?

                • +4

@CowFrogHorse: Same range you have to compare it with Sony X95K mini LED but almost $4,000 or at least X90K full array.

Anyway, I owned Samsung and I won't buy TCL but disagreed to compare it with Sony low end TV.

                  • -3

@superforever: I was just trying to give a starting point and suggest looking at what Sony sell and perhaps as necessary spend a bit more and get a far better TV.

                    • +2

@CowFrogHorse: I am not saying you are wrong, Sony is a better TV but you have to compare it with same range of TV, big price difference.

                      • @superforever: Yes i appreciate they are in a different range, and im suggesting to skip the chinese crap and buy the premium product. In the long run you will be happy that you did. Over 5 - 10 years the cost difference is barely a few cents a day.

              • +2

@superforever: Agree, I think needs to be compared to X90L for most comparable spec and quality in person. The X90L has slightly better dimming zones due to software issues on the TCL. But the X90L only goes up to 100Hz whereas TCL goes to 144Hz.

                https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sony-75-x90l-bravia-xr-fu…

Also it's $4000 now. $1845 is an amazing price for the TCL.

                • @daniesaurs: X90L is not the comparable spec, 80 zones on the Sony vs 576 on the TCL, not even close

                  • +1

@cille745: Yes on paper 80 < 896 dimming zones but Sony's processing is better and TCL software has issues with dimming especially on cinema aspect ratios (black bar issue). If A90L was around $2000 i would pick that up but yes agree it's $4000 and not that much better than the TCL.

                    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9afnA9519o

                    • @daniesaurs: They are not in the same category of price. If you are spending over $3000 on a tv and its not a OLED you need to ask yourself why. Chances are you are making the wrong decision or Image quality doesn't matter to you and you just want more inches for the sake of inches.

                      • +1

@hessels92: Exactly lol that is the point I was trying to make with this comparison in response to

Better of spending a few dollars more and getting a Sony.

                    • -1

@daniesaurs: Yeah Sonys processing is definitely ahead of the rest, but no software magic is going to make up for a 10x difference in local dimming zones.

I compared them both side by side in JB and the better contrast and blooming (when not using cinema aspect ratios) was a bigger difference than the processing personally

            • +5

@CowFrogHorse: Please don't post ill informed comments directing people in the wrong direction.
At this price point this is widely known as the best tv.

          • -6

@superforever: Goto an broadcaster, they arent using TCLs, they all use SONY tvs everywhere.

            • +3

@CowFrogHorse: That's… Not a comparison point. They likely have deals on other things Sony also makes, package bundles, bulk/commercial pricing and long term agreements.

              • @ReaperX22: whats the actual difference between the x90L and K series? apart from the obvious $1800 price difference, the rest all look identical

                https://store.sony.com.au/compare?pid1=XR85X90L&pid2=XR85X90…

                • @Lookingforabargain: Number of dimming zones, and brightness. Bloom is more noticeable on X90K. TCL performs much better in regards to that.

              • -5

@ReaperX22: TCL is free to also make the same deals…

For a broadcaster they dont care about how much a tv costs a bit more or less is irrelevant, its all about quality.

Guess which will be perfect for many years ?

Guess which will have strange artifacts or colouring or other unwanted effects ?

  • any thoughts on Ffalcon vs TCL 65 inch tv? are they similar or its worth to pay $150 extra for TCL

    Thank you!!!

    • +2

Ffalcon = unknown brand, like ALDI TV.

    • +1

Def pay the extra. Don't get Falcon

    • -3

Wait and save and buy from a proper brand like Sony

      • i dont this 65 inch tv would go around $800,,, when it comes to Sony… I will wait for Black Friday sales - lets see

      • +1

You do realise that TCL manufactures most LCD panels for Sony TV’s right?

        • +1

          Says who ?

Bridgestone also manufactures tyres for Hyundais and Ferraris, but the two cars are not the same thing.

    • Don't get the Ffalcon definitely a lot less quality just worth saving the extra if you're already spending around $1000.

    • +2

      ffalcon is tcl's budget brand

    • This TV at this price every day of the week. The FFalcon is not even close to this TV.

    • +1

They can't even spell Falcon right.

May as well buy a Panaphonics or Sorny.

  • +1

$1845 at TGG before cashrewards 10% cashback

    • +1

      Everybody price match JB.

      • I opted for TGG because the delivery was $50+ cheaper
