    • I did this ends up 1660 + $55 delivery. Got it today

  • +4

Wait for $1499 dont bite on pre BF deals
With coupons, gift card and cashback price to pay is $1500 or below for 75" and $2000 or below for 85"

    • Gift card and cashback don’t stack

      • +2

They will at ebay , just wait and see
        75" will be way below $1500 :D

        • You're dreaming mate

  • +3

I got one. Bad lip sync.

Audio delay is capped at -50 when trying to speed up audio.

I have tried all combos in the options, and nothing helps even when it capped out.

Audio is slightly delayed and I notice it more than not now.

    • +1

      Using external speakers or soundbar?

      • +1

        both

I prefer the internal speakers though, cause its more centre of screen sounding.

Soundbar feelks like its coming from bottom of screen.

      On a different note…
I'm currently watching Dredd UHD via Xbox one. Connected to a Denon AVR and then via HDMI to the 85c845.
I'm getting slightly out of sync audio. Words are a half second behind the lips moving.
Suggestions? Settings need tweaked? On the console, the AVR or the TV?

      Never buy Hisense and TCL

Specs look good on paper but their firmware engineers are garbage

Not an MTK chipset issue either because Sony engineers can write decent firmware

      • +2

Glad i read this…out of sync audio makes me unreasonably angry.

      • -1

sony a95l has been reviewed with the worst audio sync out of all, but its an enthusiast tier tv so it will fixed down the track

        • This depends how the source device is connected and many more scenarios.

          • @Sup3rFly: yeah but as it stands it occurs everywhere and requires the source device or receiver to adjust it, same boat as the TCL

    • +5

I haven’t experienced this on mine and have used it with the inernal speakers, optical out and HDMI eArc

    • +1

      Have you tried monster cables?

  • This versus the Hisense 65 u8kau? I have one on preorder for like 3 weeks now loo

The main difference between the u8kau vs c845 seems to be the TCL cranks up the brightness to 2000 nits versus 1300 on the Hisense but trades off some lower resolution post processing.

Which one do I get ? (If cost is not really a concern)

    • +1

this is something I had to decide on, I went the TCL 8C845
Other points is the operating system being Google with the TCL and VIDAA for Hisense
the consensus I found was to go with the TCL

    • This

    • +1

      Check out the reviews online
.. says the TCL is better overall.

  • Where is this model on the TCL page? Only goes down to 55 inch!

    • +1

The 50” is a new model for Australia and might not be on their page. It was available first overseas and its specs are worse than the 55”, so not just a 5” size difference

  • Hmmmm……… this or Samsung 75" CU80000 @ $1495?

    • +2

i was comparing the same, i think this is a better TV, Mini Led vs LCD panel. 3 yr warranty vs 12, better (louder speakers) including small bass enclosure on the TCL, better refresh rate 60hz vs 144 hz.

      I think i'll get this

    • +1

This all day every day. Not even close the cu80000 is a bottom barrel tv. It sits just above your Aldi and Ffalcons. Don't just read Samsung and assume better. This TV is better in all aspects.

  • Just pulled the trigger via Good Guys @ $1845, but ……. 10% cashback via cash rewards (ends today).

although note #cashrewards tracked but at $167 cashback, not $185 (10%) - have sent them an enquiry to resolve.

    [+ $55 delivery]

    • +5

I thought cashback doesn’t include GST.

      • that would explain it - never noticed before! thanks

Update on my purchase from an earlier sale.

Bought the 85C845, Paid 3170 (delivered) and got $200 gift card as part of the promotion.

Spoke to my local store about the price drop to $2688
They just refunded me the difference of $482 but the big win is I still got to use that $200 gift card from the Initial purchase

    • Is it something the manager has to do? Or the counter staff can do it too?

      • Are you afraid of managers?

      • So I rang the store and they said to come in and they can sort it. I went to the counter and spoke to a you get staff member that wasn't the manager or the one I spoke to on the phone, he looked into my purchase and current product price then refunded the difference.

        • Thanks, that's good to know! I bought 16 days ago, hopefully they will find me eligible

          • @KaitoKid1412: I bought 21 days ago with it being delivered 10 days ago if that means anything.

        • What's your opinion on the TV?

          • +1

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Tonight is my first time using it as I have been building the wall it's been mounted on. I'm definitely happy with it. The operating system runs well and has all the good specs you would want in a tv.
Just connected it all up with q990 soundbar.

I wanted to get a good sized tv which is why I opted for the 85" mini led. An OLED of that size is just unfeasible to me.

Also the 3 year warranty is a bonus with TCL

          • +1

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: I'm enjoying it. I originally wanted an OLED, I compared it S90C, LG C3, as well as to Hisense U8K which is supposed to be quite good too. The OLEDs do pip it in image quality but I figured for me, not to the point I wanted to spend over 1k more. Hisense U8K demo content wasn't very impressive, it could be because Australian model is different to the US model which gets good reviews. The other factor is that I don't watch TV in the dark
/low light so I lose some of the impact of an OLED.

The only other one that could be compared in the price range (if it goes half price) is the Sony X90L, especially if you watch low quality content (e.g 720p) as Sony is supposed to have very good processing capability. I would imagine the TCL still has better contrast though. I couldn't test this out in store though given all demo content is high quality. Admittedly, I didn't look at the X90L much but from reviews, it might be worth considering if sales bring it under 2k. Do a comparison in store though

  • I have a question, Can this be mounted on a wall. I saw the back of the tv and it has a little bass section..

    • Wait.. I thought it can be mounted

      • Check out the reviews, iirc it won't sit flush on the wall because of the subwoofer, but double check.

    • +1

I've got my 85" wall mounted, physically, the sub sticks out about 10mm from the back of the tv, it's minimal. I haven't read into how it may effect the sound etc.

      • +1

oh thats what i was worried about. hopefully someone lets us know

      • What mount did you use? How far from the wall is it mounted? Cheers

    Hey Guys
    I m in dilemma

I have Sony X80k 75" I got for $1499 on Amazon deal. Can return before 20th Nov

From work I can get :
Samsung QE1C QLED for $1580 - work colleagues says it's better then Sony I have

Other thought: I have only started using Amazon stick on my 50" and I feel it does same job as smart TV in terms of apps and other convenience (given quality is not soooo good on this non smart soniq TV ) , so I m like If i can return Sony and get 75" inch non smart TV under 1000 and use fire stick ,, M i better off?

But then now I have this TCL that OP posted .

    Any suggestions/ ideas please?

    Thanks guys
    Hari

  • Hey all,

    Not sure

    Why the down vote!!!

  • Just bought this. JB was able to give me for $1750. Used 15% gift card. Worked out to be $1488

    • 15% gift card?

      • Coles tcn gift cards

    • much of a haggle to get that price? with free delivery too?

      • +1

JB Hi-Fi has an offer for free delivery of TV's over 75" (in "Metro" areas) until the 27/11/2023. See my other comment about price matching with Appliances Online.

    • Nice, I was only able to get them to price match with Appliances Online for $1805 (in NSW) + the using the TCN gift cards brought it down to $1535.

Looks like you ended up getting the best price so far!

      • Not too bad. Only lost $47. Very much acceptable

  • Ok I did it. I bought it with a family friend staff discount. The lowest i got it was $1570 but none in stock anywhere. Delivery around the 11-13th. The only reason I got it was because the JB tv guy said the sale price is going back up.

    • Wish i had a JB friend.
      Couldn't get any TCN vouchers.

When did they say the price was going up? tomorrow?

      • +1

Apparently after the current sale its on atm. So yeah looks like monday the sale ends.

  • Still not delivered and estimated delivery now 16 January
