Samsung Odyssey OLED Monitors: G8 34" UltraWide QHD 175Hz $1299 (Sold Out), G9 49" DQHD 240Hz $1999 Delivered @ Samsung

200

$100 cheaper than yesterday's deal on the G8. Both G8 and G9 prices look like ATLs from a quick OzB deal search, first time the G9 has dipped below $2k? Probably our version of some of the cheap prices in the US getting posted on Reddit threads etc

Even cheaper if you can get through a partner portal - eg with a Westpac Rewards credit card (in wallet of every OzB for Shopback, surely?) the G8 is $1234 and the G9 $1899, and then it seems if you pay with Westpac's new PartPay system (see those instructions to add to your existing card through the app), you get another $100 off = $1134 and $1799 respectively ….. happy dayzzz….

Only proviso is you'll probably (?) be unreasonably waiting for delivery - YMMV, but seems there're plenty of reports of people ordering from Samsung AU site and then having to pester for months to chase….

Also note that unlike Alienware's 3yrs on its OLED monitors, Samsung has express no burn-in warranty. (FWIW - I tried via Dell chat to get the $1299 price beat on the AW3423DWF - no dice, only would give the 7% corporate discount)

EDIT 17/11 - G8 seems to be coming in and out of stock. so you might get lucky. Website price gone up to $1399 - but ppl are managing to get better prices through 10% app discount, education and partner portals etc.

  • How does partpay give 100$ off?

    • I saw it through the Westpac rewards portal… then its a splash screen on the Samsung portal site

Just use the Samsung app with 10% off your first time purchase. Same discounts.

Same Samsung discounts and same Samsung months shipping "estimations"

      • Only the G9 Neo QLED has a long wait time. They are trying to get rid of their G9 OLEDs.

        • +1 ^ point about the other orders that were slated for October

          Samsung direct store issues

Looks like a sample OLED order is ostensibly only a two-week wait

          November 28, 2023

+ add the website estimated delivery time table (touted by reps) and variable customer experiences to add more weeks/months to the shipment.

Should probably be okay if you get an early order in for these stocked clearance items

    • no iOS app tho? unsurprising

The big advantage the Samsung OLED monitors have over the Alienware AW3423DWF is the glossy pannel. Alienware have matte coating, which dulls the colors and introduces some graininess.

OLED monitors should not have matte coatings. Glossy is important for getting the best out of the contrast and color vibrancy.

I've got the AWdwf and it's glossy. Maybe it's the DW model that's matte?

      • Neither are matte, people are confusing LG and Samsung panels.

    • Prefer glossy in general as well!

      Less additional smear and speckle.

      AW3423DWF has a glossy panel

Not sure where you got this from but its incorrect.

      • Everyone keeps quoting the (incorrect) PC Gamer review

    • Or a disadvantage for some people, for whom glare can be a bitch.

    • This is completely wrong, they all have glossy panels

    • Nope I have the DW version Glossy screen…

    • Gonna tell the boss tonight I need this for work.

    • $2100 is the benchmark for the 57" - I am waiting for it to happen again haha!

      • By the time it arrives for the previous OzBargainers you may have your deal!

They are waiting for it to finish happening

August September batches seemed to have slightly less issues.

    • Oh that looks nice

Danmit. Bought the G9 OLED. Was going to wait for the LG C3 42 OLED TV deal with JB on 20/11, but I had concerns with that TV for work use programs.
Don't really like the 1440p height, wish it was slightly taller, but I can now get rid of the 2nd 27 monitor.

  • DO NOT buy the G9 OLED if you are using a mac. Have had to return a unit myself.
