OZB30

Good evening, OzBargain Legends! πŸ€™πŸΌ

Aidan here πŸ‘‹πŸ» and I'm back again to further add stress to your wallet during this year's Black Friday season. πŸ˜‚

As one of the co-founders of SimsDirect, I'd like to personally invite you all to join us in our exclusive MASSIVE 30% OFF EVERYTHING sale. πŸ”₯

⚠️ Important: Ensure you use the code OZB30 for the Ozbargian exclusive code. It's 25% off for non-OZB customers.

If you're unfamiliar with our products, we've provided over 150,000+ Aussies with prepaid travel SIMs and eSIMs that allow them to travel smoothly, keep in contact with loved ones, access travel apps, or upload cheeky pics to their socials. 🀩🀳🏼

Fun little fact about our products? They all connect to the local cellular towers in their destination country, allowing you to roam like a local. 😎 (Without having to sell your house, pack up the wife and kids, apply for a visa in your destination country, find a place to rent/buy, send the kids off to school, find a job, and sign up for a local SIM plan for 12 months…) 😬

Okay admittedly, maybe that's a bit extreme πŸ‘†πŸ», but still, with us, there are no lock-in contracts and ZERO hidden costs. All of our SIMs require a one-time fee and that's it. No sneaky, behind-the-scenes BS. πŸ‚πŸ’©

And the best part? Those one-time fees have been severely reduced. Roam like a local for as little as 62c/day. πŸ₯Ή

As always, we want to share the love with the OzBargain community; you guys and gals have played an essential role in the growth of our small Aussie startup, which is why you'll always have exclusive access to our sales before anyone else. ❀️

So what are you waiting for?! Let's get into it;

βœ… Our SIMs activate as soon as you land, offer great value for money, and include fast and friendly true-blue customer service.

🚨 Hurry, our SIMs go like hotcakes.

πŸ™ Thanks for supporting our growing Oz startup!

πŸ‘ Happy bargain hunting! Click our products below πŸ‘‡

P.S - Have questions? I'll be in the comments below answering any questions you guys might have ✌🏻

      • Hi, any new specials for Christmas travel?

  • I just ordered before you posted this.. missed out on the extra 5% discount.. small order but still 5%. Quite disappointed.. Anything you can do? :)

      Hey @gembel

Of course! No worries at all. πŸ€™

Hey man, it's all good on our end. Ozbargainers gotta Ozbargain, you know?

            ❀️

  • So I take it you own both simsdirect and travelkon and its just a branding exercise.

Which one is better :P I've ordered from your other brand travelkon before or is there zero diff.

    • +1

      Hey @RBZ10

Haha, I can see how it would seem that way! They are a direct competitor.

Which brand is better is up to you to decide! (If I was you I'd join the SimmyD fam 😜)

No, but seriously, it's entirely up to you and there are zero hard feelings!

      Happy travelling!

      -Aidan

      • it would be funny if it was 2 guys that started sims direct then split and one moved to WA and registered travelkon but that's just script writing for a movie haha.

What's better about sims direct? I'm going to Japan so does it uses local Japanese carrier, I noticed travelkon uses some Taiwan operator which was annoying remote working as security team at my work freaked out lol. And are there 30+ day options

        • +1

          Hey @RBZ10

Our Japan eSIM uses Docomo and IIJ networks and does NOT route via ChungWa Telecom in Taiwan. So there shouldn't be any issues there!

Unfortunately, we do not have anything over 30 days but feel free to buy multiple eSIMs and save them in your email until you need the second one.

What's better about SimsDirect? I don't like to boast or oversell ourselves. What I can promise is that we're a hard-working Aussie startup that cares deeply about our customers, and we will do everything in our power to ensure you have a smooth trip overseas!

Let me know if you have any further Q's!

          -Aidan

  • Question on Japanese physical SIMs. The 15Gb is the biggest, can you top these up or I have to buy multiple SIMs?

    • Hey @onggie

They are not rechargeable and you will need to buy multiple SIMs!

      -Aidan

      • Thanks for the reply.

        • ❀️

  • Question on Japanese esim - do you know what network they use in Japan and do they require the APN to be manually inputed?

    • +1

      Hey @mandelbrot

They do not require manual APN (sometimes the auto APN can not work though, so keep that in mind).

      Networks = Docomo and IIJ

Let me know if you have any further Q's!

      -Aidan

      • Does the Japanese esim come with a Japanese phone number to receive sms?

        https://simsdirect.com.au/collections/esim-japan/products/ja…

        • +1

          Hey @arcticmonkey

They are data only and do not come with a mobile number for SMS.

If you have a dual SIM phone you can however receive SMS on your home number and use data on your eSIM.

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: Hi Aidan

I need a Japanese phone number to receive SMS for MFA/2FA to buy a concert ticket. No need to send SMS.

            Can you recommend a solution?

      • regarding japan network you use for eSIM, Docomo and IIJ, from what I know (may be not accurate), IIJ is an MNVO of Docomo, so similar to Telstra and Boost. Is that correct?

Does Docomo give the best coverage in Japan? I'll be mostly in Tokyo/Hakone/Osaka areas.

TravelKon says they use KDDI/Softbank/Docomo as their network. Does that mean it provides more coverage since they use their eSIM can roam between 3 different carriers??

They do have Docomo IIJ as well but it says user may need to manually input the APN, but your one does not so I assume it's a different product altogether?

Side question, does the eSIM work in South Korea as I will be transitting there for several hours?

        Thanks

  • -1

Massive 30%??? Anything less than 50% is not considered massive.

    • +2

      Hey @runamuck

What would be a better-fitting word, do you think? Slightly massive? πŸ˜…

Haha jokes, I can see where you are coming from!

  • Question about esim. Is it possible to purchase the esim now and activate it in March when my trip is?

    • Hey @Jpeng1992

Each eSIM is different; just check the 'activate before' column in the post, or read the product pages to find out.

      -Aidan

      • Hi Aidan,
Thank you for the reply. I've read the product page and just want to clarify to make sure I understand correctly. I'm looking at purchasing the Japan 30gb esim.
I have to activate it within 60 days of purchase but it won't start until I actually arrive in Japan and it connects to a network?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, this is my first time dealing with esims.
        Thank you!

        • +4

          Hey @Jpeng1992

I'm glad you reached out! The eSIM needs to be activated and used within 60 days of purchase.

Unfortunately, this will not work for you if you leave in March.

You can use this eSIM, though (it works in Japan and can be held inactive until Dec 2024) SEA eSIM

    • Hey @Weisman

      For physical SIMs:

      Standard = 3-5 business days

Keep in mind it is Black Friday, and Australia post will be getting absolutely slammed right now, so expect delays.

      For eSIMs:

      Instant by email!

      -Aidan

  • Have used you guys plenty of times in the past without incident. I'm looking at the Europe & UK eSIM for early/middle January arrival. I see others above mention some eSims have to be activated within a certain frame from purchase. I can't see that listed for this this eSim. I'm not missing anything? TIA.

Just buy 1 SK eSIM and 1 Japan eSIM and choose the data amount for each country.

      Japan eSIM

      -Aidan

  • Hi We are going on a cruise around NZ with 6 stops over 11 days,I wouldn't expect coverage on sea days between Aus - NZ but just wondering if anyone has tried these & know how far out to sea you would get coverage traveling from port to port around NZ. Considering getting one even just for the port days as it is around $300-$350 through the shipping company for the duration of the cruise.

    • +1

      Hey @SCRUFF0

It depends on the towers and how far out to sea you go.

Many customers do this and get coverage out at sea, but I would not expect it to be reliable.

You will have coverage when you are close to land and stopping at ports though.

      Hope this helps!

Cruise internet is a ripoff because they need to use Sattelite internet which is MUCH more expensive.

  • Hello OP,

    I'm in Japan 10th to 27th Jan.
If I buy the Japan esim 20G for 30 days on 24th Nov, double checking that I can activate it on the 9th Jan and still be able to use it the next 3 weeks? Or do I have to use it within the 60 days of purchase?
    Thanks

    • Hey @Morten

As long as it is activated within the 60 days (so you could activate it on day 59) you will still get the full 30 days of usage.

Hope that clears it up :)

      -Aidan

      • Thanks!

  • Hi,

  • Hi, what network do you use for the Europe Sim?

    • Hey @Tchay

      Sorry for the late reply!

All of our Europe SIMs and eSIMs use different networks in different countries.

So it will depend on these factors ^. Let me know what SIM you are looking at and what countries you want to use it in and I can try get you a list of carriers.

All the networks used by any of our SIMs/eSIMs are local networks in the country you are visiting.

      -Aidan

Another one, does activating esim means once you connect to the local network, or you need some special setting?

    Thanks

      Sorry for the late reply!

      Yep, it includes Mainland China!
