  • i bought the torque wrench a while back. it should be 1/2"

    • how'd it go? all good i suppose or you woulda said something.

      • +1

fine for my purposes, just home & bicycle use

I also bought one and they feel really solid and good. I must admit though, I haven't had much need to actually use it, so I can't comment on the lengevity of it. I also can't find it on the aldi site to confirm it's the same one. Mine was in a black long plastic container.

    • What brand is it? $25 is an awesome price for a 1/2" Torque wrench…if it's accurate.

      • That was my thought, may be good for the average user, but i wouldn't want to be relying on it for the more accurate of figures.. Going to buy one of the chargers though, give it a shot :)

I bought two of the computer chargers (one for the old man) a while ago.
    A good bit of kit.

    • agreed. i've used mine plenty of times and i've lent it to a friend who loved it so much he's going to get one on the 13th.

    • i just saw the picture. someone is using it to torque the nuts on their wheels. i've never done that in my life

      • +1

You obviously dont own a GU Nissan Patrol….
I have never done it either until I read heaps of threads on broken wheel nut studs.

        • 90's mazdas used to be shocking for it as well. mitsubishi vans (like mine) tend to pop them too if your not careful doing them up

its something like twice the torque they are designed for if you use a standard cross brace to do your nuts up even if you dont go mad with it.

so yea, not as stupid as it sounds to torque wheel nuts, in fact apart from rebuilding an engine (head bolts and bearings bolts/nuts) its about the only place you really bother with torques

"Other specials from the 15th: http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/offers_20111015.htm" - Isn't this a link from 2011 (there is no Saturday 15 October this year)???

      • The deal is a repeat of last year, there is no updated catalogue online yet

  • I bought the Car charger last time.
I dropped it and half the LCD stopped working.
    Can't disassemble to fix.
    Just saying.

  • Gotta neg the deal because as someone pointed out these deals seem to be from last year.

I went through the site and can't find anywhere that suggests these prices are applicable now/soon.

Easy mistake to make.. if you google 'aldi torque wrench' the links mentioned come straight up.
Really, I'd prefer to neg aldi's webmaster.

The prices are sourced from the physical catalogue i picked up yesterday, so the deals are in motion.
Yes they are a repeat of last year

ahh.. ok. i didn't see that in your post, or you edited it since then.

        (neg revoked)

  • Totally forgot about this! I'll have to pop into Aldi tomorrow and see if they've still got some torque wrenches left.

    • I needed one a week or so ago and didn't think I had a hope of getting one. There were none out on the floor and I was about to leave empty handed when I decided to ask a staffer if they had any, and they did.
