any batteries you can use in 2023 ?

    • -1

A lot of low power smart devices use these now. Window/door/water/humidity sensors etc.

Any comments you can use in 2023?

    • I go through dozens these every year.

      Did everyone miss the joke?

      • Apparently so

      • +2

There was no bolding. Everyone knows jokes need bolding, just look at jv's comments for examples.

        • NOTED .. will keep that in mind next time I post a lame joke

        • +1

          just look at jv’s

          Do I have to?

These were $7.99 in June :( bloody inflation.

nice to have a similarly priced alternative to the Bunnings Duracell 8pk for $18.98 - https://www.bunnings.com.au/duracell-cr2032-3v-battery-8-pac…

EDIT: believe the energiser are better choice for AirTags - the bitter film on Duracells makes for extra steps

  • Still very expensive if you use a lot of them. (IoT stuff)

Anybody know a good source for cheap bulk, decent ones? ( As good as Varta is for AA & AAA.)
I've been buying from ebay, but quality varies.

I've gone energizer for that extra life in them

Depending on your device, you might be able convert it over to use AA batteries or a USB charger with an adapter like this or this

There's always the DIY route too if you're handy with a soldering iron..

      • +1

Thanks, but if I were going to mod, it would be with a CR123 holder. Same voltage, much greater capacity, and available cheap.

I've bought Renata ones from here. They used to be $19+8 shipping for 20, looks like the price is now $26 + shipping. Panasonic is $18 for 20. With shipping that would be $1.30 each.

They're not for retail use (no child-resistant packaging or bitter coating) so I had to call them to order, for work use. They come in a generic tray not retail packaging. So far they've been working as expected for me.

    • I use rechargeable ones with a DIY charger. Saves me a lot.

      • They are 4.2V full vs 3.3V for regular. Will be out of spec for many SoCs, could do damage.
Though I guess you could just charge them to say 3.7V ?

    want about cr2016 😞

There's a 5% off so for it down to $8.45.
Perfect timing as just used the last one, Thanks!!

    • Didn't see the 5% off, must of been targeted

  • Got some thanks OP. Car remote range getting very short.

  • Perfect, some of my AirTags have started showing low battery warnings

    • how do they compare to energizer?

      • Top notch Japanese quality. Yes, you heard right. They are made in Japan.

Can't say the same for Energizer.

        • Have you bought from they seller before? Previous maxell deals mentions there are a lot of fakes on ebay.

          • @CodeXD: I bought some energizer ones on ebay. They were quite cheap so I bought 20 of them. They last longer than the previous ones I bought which were a different brand, but not sure if they're genuine or not. They worked out to be around $1 each battery.

@warmfruit: Do you have a link? What was the expiration date on those ones?

For reference I bought some cheapie from Coles about a year ago, and tried to use them in my car's remote only to notice that the expiration date is 12/2023. They worked intermittently and caused me a lot of issues so I've bought some energizer ones to replace it, and has worked perfectly.

I'm not willing to risk on cheap batteries anymore especially for car remote battery but make I can use them for scale or selfie stick that will also take the same battery.

                @CodeXD: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224626577935?

The price has gone up now. I bought 2 of the 10 packs for under $22. Now it's $28

I'm not at home now so I can't check, but these weren't short dated. However, I'm not sure if these are genuine or not. The packaging is exactly like in the picture on the listing, which is different to the ones you get in the stores here.

                • @warmfruit: Crazy that it is cheaper to buy the 2 x 5 pack than single 10 pack there haha

Thank you for the link, I'll do some research and see what the most bang for bucks CR2032 is from reputable brand/stores.

                  • @CodeXD: Previous to that I bought the pk cell brand on ebay which didn't last very long. So I don't recommend those.

          • +3

@CodeXD: They seem to have a website, and it looks like they're a Maxell reseller.

They sell these there in a 100 pack, so I'm guessing the 10 pack on eBay is just coming out of one of those:

            https://tapesplus.com.au/product/100x-pack-maxell-cr2032-h-h…

          • @CodeXD: Yes and they are legit.

  • I purchased these three days ago. I was going to slap myself until I realised that this is exactly what I paid. It seems to be a regular price. They were a few $$ cheaper a few months ago though.

    • +1

Exactly, been on my wishlist since they were $7.99.
This is literally the everyday price. $9.95 since September.
Post it here though and wow….what a bargain! 🤣

  • 4 months ago this was $7.40.
22% inflation in 4 months and people upvote this.

    • I thought normal price was $7.99. How is this a deal.

    • Where can you buy for that price now?

  • +1

coming up as $13.99 for me?
