I wouldn't risk it, I had to fight their legal department last time when they tried to reneg on the gift card offer. About 5 emails back and forth before they finally relented.

All insurance providers are crooks, but these guys are one of the worsts ones. They select.

    • What do they select?

They always have this, just get a quote and wait a few days for a $60 e-gift offer

    • Yep. Bil got it despite the offer timing out before he signed on.

  • Yeah they jacked my car insurance policy up by $30 per month without zero incident for the past year. Probably gonna churn in the next policy.

$50 lol, shame the offers don't keep up with the exorbitant "inflation" your policies seem to keep up with

Budget Direct is no longer budget

Cool, looks like I'm churning to a new provider then!

Don't bother with them. I had a serious car accident in which I was at fault. The claim should have been fairly straightforward but Budget Direct used every trick in the book to try and deny my claim. Summary was they were saying the car was modified and that I didn't specify that on the policy, the modifications they were claiming were simply factory fitted accessories that were standard on that model. They aren't worth the heartache and stress in the event that you need to make a claim. The policy's aren't worth the paper they're written on. Don't make the same mistake I did. Whatever they offer it's not worth it. I don't usually comment on posts but I have to when I see something from Budget Direct

Thanks for the feedback, was trying to give back to the community that has given me so much but looks like not very useful deal

    • Was worth a shot 👍

  • What's a good affordable insurer then these days? For car or home & contents. I'm with nrma and they have put up their prices a lot too.

I'm not sure. I'm with Allianz for home/content and 1 car. Shannon's for the other car. Just had hail damaged repaired through Allianz and it was a really easy process and fast. I wouldn't say either are cheap but also not the most expensive.

The whole industry needs an overhaul and proper government regulation on all their products. You shouldn't need to be an expert to understand all the loopholes in what you're purchasing.

  • I recieved the renewal from AAMI and the premium has gone up by 42%!!!
I didn't have any issues and didn't make any claims and the car just got one year older and cheaper. And yet the premium skyrocketed.
