It's the big leap in immersion and wow factor you used to get when you upgraded to a new console back in the 90s and 00s. (That you don't really get anymore, since new consoles now just play the same old games).

Totally new and amazing gaming experience. Not more popular only because it's inconvenient to put on a headset.

  • +2

I have both Quest 3 and Quest 2. Quest 2 was good, but Quest 3 is so much better. Buy the Quest 3 instead. The mixed reality is awesome.

    • +3

I would if it wasn't over double the price of this deal!
Oh and mixed reality would be awful, I use the quest headset to get away from my mess.:-)

  • +1

I think we should all contact Amazon to gives us a deal on q3 lol

    • I’m waiting for q4 release then I can get q3 for this price

  • Real discount with gift card is only $56 as I can not use my 10% discounted gift cards

    • +1

      What?

    • That is this comment?

  • +3

I bought a quest 3 recently and am loving it. Thinking of getting this as a second headset to play multiplayer games with my partner.

Is this actually worth it for a cheaper second headset? Or is it too much of a downgrade once you've experienced the quest 3?

  • At this price, you could almost turn a profit on eBay? After 500 hours of Elite Dangerous, the novelty has warn off. But if you find a game you like, it's well worth it. If nothing strikes your fancy, a bit of a dust collector.

  • Can you play Starfield/No Man's Sky with this thing?

    • +1

Yeah but not natively, you will have to have a PC that is capable of PCVR.

      • do you just mean a PC fast enough to run those games?

        • +2

Yeah, that has a good enough graphics card to render the game in VR. Because VR usually has a screen per eye at resolutions that are higher than 1080p, usually closer to or higher than a "2k" (2560x1440) screen, it's the equivalent of your computer rendering the game for two 2k monitors which is no small feat. Especially because in VR you need a decent frame rate so that you don't get motion sick.

pull the trigger! Too cheap to pass this deal.

  • I am surprised that they still haven't drooped the price of the Q3 yet

  • My one get delivered today but no gift card inside the box.
Does anyone have the same issue?

    • My gift card was sent separately

    • +4

I thought mine was missing until i found it under one of the bottom flaps of the amazon box. It could easily have slipped into the quest box too.

      • +1

That's where mine ended up too.

      • +1

Oh.. god. Just found mine too. Thank you

Anyone knows what shipping company amazon use these days? I allows using parcel locker address but says signature required 🤷‍♂️

    • Try a AusPost Parcel collect - where you use the post office address. You need to set it up first (free of course).
      https://auspost.com.au/receiving/collection-points/choose-a-…

    • don't they contract drivers directly?

    • ended up calling amazon support to confirm. They said that if it says shipped by amazon, it's amazon's own courier. I know for sure they deliver to AP Parcel Locker. I just dont want to make a mistake where my order is handled by Aramex - such a terrible experience as they wont deliver to Parcel Locker and contacting them to schedule a redelivery is almost impossible.

  • So, I bought one of these for my 9 year old for Xmas. What games should I get? He’s Minecraft and Roblox obsessed if that helps.

  • +3

All this time I legitimately thought "Beat Sabre" was just code for watching porn. Turns out it's an actual game. The more you know.

    • Hahaha that makes sense as well……..as great name for a porn site :-)

  • I already have a PS4 with a psvr headset (CUH-ZVR2) with move controllers, but the cords drive me nuts and really restrict how far I can move. Is the meta quest 2 worth buying at this price ?

    • Y

    • Yes definitely. This is easily the best value VR headset out there. Quest 3 is great if you're not on a budget and you see yourself using it a fair bit but if you're a casual user and just want to test the waters this is it. For mine still a great piece of kit and should be good for most games/apps at least for another couple of years.

  • Looks like dispatch has changed to 1-2 months, so delivery in december - jan

    • I ordered with this wait time, if they have a deal on the 3 ill cancel the order if not ill get this one

    • Still shows in stock at Meta
No $100 giftcard but does come with Elite strap. Not as good a deal but might help some who need before Christmas.

    • Try again? It says Nov 28 for me.

  • Maybe they will offer discounts on the quest 3 now being that this deal has no stock, you would also think they would want to move some of these new ones at a special price during Black Friday.

I was told they are not but you can’t believe Amazon half the time.
I was also told to watch this space regarding the quest 3 for December info provided end of nov.
They could not tell me anything more.

I really want the quest 3 and it’s the latest not for me but daughters Xmas yes would love one myself but maybe another time.
I was tempted to get this quest 2 with the gift card deal as it is a good price and comes with $100.
But it’s dated now and has few things the 3 don’t have.
If they don’t come up with a quest 3 deal prior to Xmas then maybe I will be stuck with having to pay full price for that.
But I’m holding off they will do one maybe not Black Friday but later. Well that’s what I’m hoping and was told.
If they are talking rubbish then I be rather annoyed and I would make it clear to them they are giving me false info and I will have a very upset daughter at Xmas.

    Now can get
$100 promo credit from this deal
plus $30 cashback with topcashback https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/815248
plus $47 meta referral credit https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14586447/redir
Similar to the best price on previous years.

Bit disappointing there is no amazon promo for Quest 3, but for that can stack discounted amazon gift cards, the $30 from topcashback, and meta referral credit, so better than nothing.

    • Well agent from Amazon did say watch this space regarding a deal on q3 watch out end of November for details unless talking bs.

I don’t use topcashback but do use cashback don’t they offer same, you normally have to wait a while a while to get your cashback but still something extra.

Yes fair enough you get $100 credit on Amazon and can be used on extras for the device but would be better if it was $100 off it but still good to get the $100.
Just a shame the device is 3 years old and the newer model is supposed to be better in many ways.
I think amazon are playing games with their stocks again lol they don’t have it with $100 gift card as temporary out of stock yet they still have it on sale without the $100 gift card.
Did they run out of stock on there gift cards I think not.
So the available stock without gift card should be added to the stock with gift cards included as who would buy it without the gift card anyway so make no sense to even advertise one without gift card currently.

I was very tempted to get the quest 2 but 3 seems better in many ways and I’m sure my daughter would enjoy the mixed reality which 2 has but supposed to be crap.

Yes getting discount gift cards to reduce price would be good but not enough % out there really on them and just shame they are not on any of them tcn cards at 15% off as would have been nice discount.

What’s the best discount on Amazon gift cards you know?

      • If you don't have any saved from past deals the best you can get today on amazon gift cards is probably 2% via cashrewards, or 3% via AMEX.

  • Can anyone recommend a new strap for these?

I got mine a couple days ago, and while it's super awesome, the face pressure is intense with the default strap, you can't get it secure otherwise. I can't use it for more than an hour without it being very uncomfortable, even with adjusting every so often to shift the pressure points.

A friend of mine let me try his and I played for like 2 hours in pure comfort - I think he had a Kiwi backstrap and some sort of replacement interface/glasses spacer too?

    • +1

I bought and recommend the KIWI design Comfort Head Strap. Works well and in my case I use velcro to attach a 10000mAh powerbank to the rear for extra power.

Others like the BobOVR ones. Both types avail on Amazon. Available with extra batteries depending on your budget.

There are plenty of reviews of both on Google.

      • Oh mate - I had no idea you could just strap a powerbank to the thing, that's brilliant! I did notice that the power drains pretty quick when playing HL:Alyx, even with the brightness turned down to minimum (which is still very bright in my experience).

I think I'll go for the kiwi strap and see if that solves it by itself, otherwise I'll have to shop around for an interface better for glasses wearers too … Thanks!

        • Yeah works really well.
This Vid will give you an idea or the concept. My battery is a little bigger and I grabbed a USB C to A cable that has the L shape for attaching to Oculus. Saves it sticking out

      • Does Bobovr 2 work on Q3 ?

        • I think there is a conversion kit avail. You’ll have to google that.

  • Just opened mine - does anyone else find it blurry? even after adjusting between the 3 lens setting options?

    • Hope you took off the Lens protectors.
Do you have yours on the widest setting (being the clearest) and still blurry? If so, your eyes might need even wider IPD setting. This headset only covers between 62mm to 65mm. You can test with a IPD eye app. Google it.
Are you wearing glasses, remember to insert the spacer for those.

      • yep - defs peeled off the lens protectors. Will try playing around with it to see if it improves

        • +1

You need to purchase a decent head strap like the BoboVR to get the best out of it. The stock strap is rubbish and moves around when using it so you don't tend to look through the sweet spot a lot of the time.

      • Wait what? The widest is 65mm? There's not much dif between 62 and 65 why such a narrow range? Having said that, mine is apparently 78 and the widest setting works fine for me.

        • Actually Meta site says 58 to 68 Meta IPD Info

It doesn't go very wide. I don’t have a particularly large or wide head but my IPD is around 70 so even the widest doesn't quiet cover me but close enough.
My IPD measuring method = A digital caliper so nice and accurate :-)

  • Whats the wait time on the 128gb, does anyone know?

  • Let's hope for a similar boxing day deal

  • FYI Amazon return only offers $339 refund

    • Makes sense as you received a $100 Giftcard.

  • Purchased during the preorder phase and got the gift card delivered but no quest in sight. Haven't decided if I should cancel and hold out for the Quest3?
    Are returns easy enough?

    • Amazon returns are just a matter of packing up and dropping off to Auspost. They supply a prepaid label.

  • Apparently one of my co-workers ordered this deal and got charged an extra 100.00 for the gift card. Is this an error or did this happen to anyone else?

    • They should have been charged $339.99 for the Quest 2 and $100 for the gift card.
