No, very overrated now. Playstation Pulse Elite probably about to walk all over it at a lower price point.
Great price, but I think you’re better off waiting until February for the Pulse Elite. If they’re anything like the Audeze Penrose/Maxwell planar magnetic sets, then it’s insane value at $249 rrp.
The Pulse Elite look terrible imo. Astros look way nicer
Definitely not a fashion piece worth remembering, but that's not the point of the device.
If one has to sit on your desk, the A50s look far nicer.
Also the Audeze Maxwell are $499.
@OzzyBrak: Again, not the point of the device. Everyone was raving about the Astros and the Steelseries Pros at $450-$500 while I was pointing out the Audeze gear and actual headphones.
If vanity or brand marketing is your thing, by all means look elsewhere until Sony drops a nice cheque your way. The rest of us will take the stock off your hands if it's a good product.

@teacherer: Not particularly, and I wouldn't recommend many either, just headphones that image and stage well. They both have covered the Sennheiser PC38X but ultimately don't recommend it for gaming, while the Headphones.com team love the Audeze Maxwell. For wired gear, strongly recommend look into mounting a boom mic capsule, or getting a desk mic.
The Playstation Pulse Elite will use a very similar implementation to the Maxwell, just have to wait and confirm that they didn't miss the mark in terms of engineering the cheaper housing.
Over time, bluetooth/wireless headphone mic quality should jump up, but I would focus on what headphone companies are doing, not gaming companies. LC3 and LC3Plus will offer low latency solutions thanks to Bluetooth updates.
If you're only planning to use on PC or PS5, then it's worth it. These can't be used with XBOX series X/S.

Over ear Headphones just don’t do for me
Been using these for what feels like the past 10 years over a few generations.. can't use anything else now.. the mixamp for voice / game is just super handy!
I think there is a new revision of the A50 coming soon and it will be Logitech branded. Since they are partially folding the Blue and Astro branding.

If u have a mixer like a goxlr, rodcaster pro 2 or Duo and u want to go to wireless low latency headphones this is the way to go.
Have Gen3 so thought it'd be good to upgrade at that price.
First set had a noticeable ringing in the left ear when nothing playing. Noticed it was only when base station was powered. Headset on and base station off was no sound obv. But as soon as base powered ringing starts.Got replaced with a new pair and boom, same thing. Tried all troubleshooting, diff cables diff devices, firmware, hard reset, no luck.
Refunded, will stick with the Gen3 and wait for a possible Gen5
