  • Dang missed it. Hope it repeats on BF!

  • It's arrived- haven't opened it yet.

If you change your mind, I'm here for you lol

      • I plugged it in and used it, it seems ok! I haven't had much time to use it, argh.

        • I suggest doing a full scan of windows defender or doing a windows reset altogether before using it long term.

My 16/512 arrived today, haven't had a chance to turn it on but did crack it open to see what's inside..

The SSD is a noname dramless SATA SSD. Will be replacing that with an NVMe one I have around. I didn't remove the system board but there's no chance there's enough clearance for an SODIMM slot on the back side.

I might boot up on the original SSD first to see just how legit the Win11 Pro licence is.

I haven't got a specific use for this yet, but I'll probably use it to replace an old Optiplex 9020 USFF that has a low power 4th gen i5, that's used as a download box and a couple other basic functions.

    • Once you have a chance to replace the m.2/SATA SSD with a NVMe SSD, could you please post CystalDiskInfo and CystalDiskMark result? Interested to know whether the m.2 slot is PCIe gen 3 x4 or PCIe gen 3 x2.

      • I put in a Samsung PM981 SSD and HWINFO shows that it's attached with PCIe3 x4.

The Windows 11 Pro licence also seems a legit digital licence, no worries either on first boot, or after replacing the SSD and installing a fresh copy of Win10 Pro.

        • Was the licensed stored in BIOS or did you need to transcribe it from somewhere after you swapped out the drives?

There is indeed a single SODIMM slot at the back side of that PCB. So both memory and storage is upgradeable it seems. Also you can see on the board there is a SATA port and power port for another. So the possibility is there for dual 2.5" SATA.

My 16/512 came today and I installed chrome. It started coming up with upsearches in the new tab which is a fake search engine.

I have run malwarebytes which has come up with 2 detections. So I think the copy of windows is dodgy. YMMV.

I am installing a fresh copy of windows from Microsoft instead.

    • Several no name brand ones have done dodgy stuff with their default OS installs, basically man in the middle ad intercepting and serving their own ads instead of googles etc.

The hardware itself is fine, just worth a clean install imo if you have access to a cheap license.

I did a new install on a 2Tb NVMe - much faster load times and fresh OS straight from MS. Win11pro key is in the bios.

    • I've done a full windows reset on mine too (via cloud download) after windows defender detected threats: "redline!msr" and something to do with a synapse directory… unsure if they're false negatives but I just went ahead with a full reset anyway since win 11 pro still managed to activate after. No further threats were detected after the reset.

  • Just wondering if anyone is able to output 4k 60hz? Just plugged mine in and it only goes up to 4k 30hz. Monitor and cable are both HDMI 2.0 compatible so I know they're not the issue :/

  • They want $425.99 for this little fella now (!!) amazing…..

    • good luck with that. Can get a 5800H for around the same at times :)
