    • Waiting til can use spin and win code from this friday, hopefully another increased CB happens

      • is spin & win through LG directly or a CB provider?

        • was an LG promo, this round now closed. but run 2 - 3 times in recent year/s

  • Anyone worried about screen burn in?
I was tempted to buy an oled for my PC but i saw "1 year later" reviews where people had windows task bar and window outline burn ins, admittedly not bad, but still evident.

    • There tend to be 2 vastly different perspectives on OLED burn in.

      A) People who have not experienced it for themselves are optimistic and dismissive and say to just enjoy the amazing picture quality / response time, etc. Also they often claim that new panels have somehow "fixed" burn in, which is a bit of a ridiculous claim. Mostly they've just fixed burn in by being new. Burn in is an inevitable aspect of OLED. It won't happen overnight but it will happen.

      B) People who have gone through burn in for themselves tend to be pessimistic (depending on how rich they are and how the warranty experience went) and think it is just not worth it for PC use. The hassle of trying to avoid it can be very annoying and tedious.

A fascinating insight into how people think is that the same category A people who are quite breezy and optimistic about OLED burn in for panels that they personally own, suddenly turn into huge sceptics when people talk about buying second hand OLED displays. Displays that they own have owned are viewed very very differently to displays that other people have owned.

Personally I'm in group B for PC use. The small but never ending mental toll of trying to avoid burn in, for PC use in particular, is not worth the better quality picture.

  • Samsung 34inch G8 OLED is $993 with the hack. This is not worth

Samsung is 175hz and different resolution… so not really fair to compare imo
