Listing page has price at $97.49 (30% off $139.99), but also has the code F35YPAE5 for an extra 7% - comes out as $90.67 in my cart, which is cheaper than what 3camels has as previous best price. Not sure if cheaper elsewhere, just going off my Amazon alerts..

Just installed a couple of similar Reolink cameras (RLC-811A) on the weekend, really happy with the picture quality..

  • Any good deals on wireless, battery cameras?

    • +1

Haven't used any of the wireless ones myself, but this one is listed as 40% off…

      • Thanks - I think this one deserves its own post

  • This or Eufy?

This, if you can make it work.

All of Reolink's best cameras (including this one) require connection to an ethernet cable. Hard-wired cameras are generally more reliable and secure, but the requirement to run cables can sometimes restrict where cameras are installed.

Wireless cameras like those offered by Eufy can be installed almost anywhere within WiFi range, but have drawbacks in other areas.

there are wireless reolink cameras as well

      • is there any wifi solar powered camera which can offload continuous recording to a NAS ?

        • Continuous recording is extremely rare for a battery/wifi camera. The power requirements are pretty significant, and solar-charged batteries would struggle to handle it.

  • is there a dvr that these cameras would connect to in order to work?

  • Any simple camera that notify me when someone is entering the house?

    • Not sure exactly what you mean…..

If you want to monitor a door to your house from outside, and get alerts when a person approaches the door, this camera would do the job nicely.

But it sounds like you need an indoor camera that can detect people and send an alert as soon as they become visible in a room. For that, I'd recommend the Reolink E1 Pro. This camera would work too, but it's a bit too "industrial" looking to have inside IMO.

  • Does this have an anti theft cable thing that you can buy? Alarms don't deter porch pirates in my area

    • Hi, i world suggest the rlc-842a.. it has a security dome. It is what i use where the public can get to. Eg front areas

    • Have you tried screwing it on?

  • What switches are ya'll using to provide the PoE?

    • TP-Link SF1005P is one of the cheapest well-regarded switches out there. Very simple plug and play with a good power supply.

Lots of people power their cameras with an NVR (which has PoE by default) but you can also use a 240 to 12v power supply if a PoE switch isn't worth it for a single camera.
