I think the last one also had a minimum cost of $350 as well, which this one doesn't seem to.

Thanks ! was searching last night on wego and found a 10% hotelclub discount code too : DISCOUNT

might help people to compare prices, only because hotelclub rewards are worth it :)

    • Only getting 5% off with that hotelclub promo code.

      Hotel
      Nights: 4
      Guests: 2
      Rooms: 1 $933.54
      Taxes and fees $112.09
      Promo code applied -$46.68
      Total trip cost $998.95

And with the current RatesToGo 15% off code Im only getting 10% off

      Hotel
      Nights: 4
      Guests: 2
      Rooms: 1 $933.54
      Taxes and fees $112.09
      Promo code applied -$93.35

Maybe Orbitz which runs both sites have messed up with the codes?

  • Interestingly, they don't seem to be applying exclusion 2(d) that says you must pay for it in local currency.

I just looked at booking a random hotel in the USA in both AUD and USD - they were effectively the same price (+/- a few cents due to currency deviations).

  • I was trying to book a hotel in Hong Kong a moment ago and went to ratestogo.com

They had a discount code "takeoff15" and said the hotel rates would reduce a further 15%

I tried to book and it only applied 10% - I have a live chat with Clarize. She said $642.00 applied 15% discount was - $64

I told her that was 10%. She disputed it and said it was 15%. Then she said the rates $642 was "already discounted by 5% originally"??!!

Then I realised ratestogo.com actually books through Hotel.com…that's why only 10% discount. Man, they so damn dodgy….

    • See above. Seems this is a relatively new dodgy development on both RatestoGo and HotelClub. Unless they've messed up the codes?

      Update-
Just spoke via the Chat window on RatesToGo and also brought it to their attention. (I guess the more people that do so, the quicker it gets fixed). Here was there response-

"Daisy:- It is being worked on with our company, we will give further notice one is it fixed."

Not valid for any of the hotels i tried in Newcastle. :(

Applied the discount code to a hotel at hotels.com … turns out that their "discount" is the standard price at the hotels's official website.

    • Even when it's the same price, it is often actually a worse deal. If you look at the conditions that hotel.com (and other booking sites) use, often the there is no cancellation, limited flexibility etc. In most cases, you are much better off just booking with the hotel.

I've heard this opinion quite often, but it is not always true.

I recently booked four separate hotels in Melbourne CBD. Hotels.com was cheaper with the promotion code. Also there were no additional conditions imposed on any of the hotels.

Personally the convenience of searching and comparing hotels (in a large-ish city) vastly outweighs any potential savings.

Lastly: a tip — only ever make a hotel reservation that has offers unrestricted cancellations.

  • Discount code is not valid for the hotel you have selected.

    Thats what I got.

  • Pretty stoked, this just save me >$70 on two nights accommodation in Melbourne. The Hotels.com rate was already $10 cheaper than the hotel were offering (I called to confirm), so with the %10 off I saved quite a bit. Cheers OP.
