  • I've had a pair of Windsor Smiths and thinking of making the switch. Does anyone know what the width of the RMs are comparatively or just RM width in general compared to normal shoes?

Go to your closes rm store or DJ and try them on.

If you go to an rm store they can properly measure you up. They have wider shoes too if you need that

  • +2

    Nice share.
I bought a pair for $499 during the recent David Jones deal, but they randomly cancelled the order the next day.
Thanks to them I have just saved an additional $50.

  • Price match at other places?

dynamic flex is horrible. you want comfort craftsman.
dynamic flex is only good if you have orthotics you need to put in your boot.
get comfort craftsman, its the best.

      Not true.

A removable supportive insole allows room for orthotic inserts.

It's optional, but you have removable insoles to replace them for something more substantial, like insoles from Scholls, for example. Either way, it's not horrible.

I've got both(with no insoles in either) & totally disagree. Dynamic Flex is much more comfortable, especially after an all day wear.

  • strange I do not see any X width, last time i went to the store to get fitted, they gave me X width, not sure if i can buy one and exchange for X width in store.

    • Pretty sure only the tambo model comes in X width

      • oh yeah, i just checked the website. I did not know, thought it was comfort craftsman in X width, the staff did not tell me. Thanks.

  • Last time I tried a RM Williams boot in store it was a size "8+ G" … Is this the same as a size 8.5 in G width?

    • +3

It is. The + sizes indicate the 0.5 differences in each size.

Am I gonna slip and slide in the rain with leather soles, as opposed to rubber soles

    • +1

you definitely have to be a bit careful. The rubber provides way more grip and lasts way longer though so it's a no brainer.

    • Dynamic flex uses predominantly rubber sole. Only part that’s leather is under the arch which doesn’t contact the ground typically. So grip is the same as rubber comfort craftsman’s.

  • Does this also apply for instore purchase? First time buying RM so want to try the size in person

  • what kind of maximum size is 10.5?

  • Far out. Added shoes to the shopping cart, had to step away for a moment, came back and the size is sold out :(

  • Rubber soles are definitely the way to go. Night & day.

With the full leather & dynamic flex you have the expense of replacing both the heals & soles after a few years. Id say after 3 years if you wore them 5 days a week.

my issue with RM boots made of yearling leather is how easy they scuff. i have a whole bunch of saphir polishing creams and waxes that work great on european calf leather but i can never polish RMs myself to the same level of finish i'm personally happy with. For whatever reason, the leather seems to reveal more of its grain when damaged and the local cobbler has to be called in with a sandpolisher and copious amounts of shoe cream for it to look great again. Disclaimer i'm a stickler for polished boots.

    • I thought I was the only one who has this experience! You can cover the scuffs up but they don’t go back to what it’s like on other shoes where they are properly polished over.

At the toe, does the slightly squared off sole with the rounded upper also bug you? It took me ages to work out why I didn’t love the RM aesthetic (apart from dual pull tabs) but some months ago I was polishing and cleaning, I had my mine next to my Churches and there it was. Now I can’t unsee the square sole and round toe and it bugs me the more I look at it.

      • It’s an ‘affliction’ specific to their bestsellers, i.e. craftsman and dynamicflex boots. Turnout and gardener are both rounded. I actually don’t mind it and see it as a signature RMW thing. What does annoy me though is that folded line that goes down the center of the boot that won’t disappear until many years of wear…

I bought a pair of these yesterday afternoon and I kid you not - 20 mins later I got a call from the CTO. I have a new job in middle management.

    • Congrats!

    • Congrats you made it. Now buy 10 more hahah!

When I click the link all the sizes are greyed out and it won't let me select anything. Is it completely sold out or is it just being buggy?

  • +1

Sold out so deal should be closed.

  • I can't seem to proceed. Site wouldn't let me pick a width to go on to select a size :(

  • Bought mine in the same size as what I had tried in store a while back but they feel way to tight against the top of my foot. It was also worryingly difficult to take back off. I think I'll need to look at my return options.

I bought the 8+G size, the sole of the shoe shows 8.G … Not quite sure if the dot represents the plus size or whether that's actually a size 8G

    • Have a similar issue, the boots I received are much tighter than the ones I already have, same size and width. Check the box, it has the size on there. I don't want to return them as the dark tan is a discontinued colour so have bought a shoe tree stretcher to ease out the boot.

  • Anyone got theirs delivered yet?

  • My order just got cancelled and refunded this morning, hopefully not the first of many. For the record I ordered ~8pm Nov 21st.

    • 5:35pm and mine was cancelled as well this morning

  • They lost my order and replaced it with comfort craftsman.

    • Nice, wish they’d lost mine too

  • Took mine back. Tried a few other inner soles and couldn't dial them in for comfort. Back to the old CC's and new Mongrels.
