900W Angle Grinder (Takes 125mm Discs, None Included) for $24.99 at Aldi

20

Aldi special buy, their usual Taurus brand. I bought one of these today, and with a metal grinding disc (from Masters for about $5) I took a couple of mm off the bottom of an aluminium security door that's been sticking for waaay too long.

Worked a treat. Not under any illusions that this is a tradies tool, but for a weekend hack like me it's perfect.

Uh-oh, just in time for Bush-Fire Season!

Use carefully, but not on fire danger / fire ban days.

    • Guys, I know it's hard to read peoples intentions in text, but what IVI is saying is a reasonable warning. I'm not sure if you're aware but in WA not far from when I grew up (and where by parent still live) an angle grinder sparked a big fire which destroyed a large number of homes.

      • yeah.. i read it that IVI was just sprouting a dark joke and assumed that's why someone neg'd his comment.

and yeah, angle grinders are a hazard or even illegal to use during a fire ban. that thing in WA wasn't a freak once off thing.

        • so there is no construction, maintenance or building during fire ban periods?

        • it depends.
example.. in SA, in some areas, if there's a fire ban then you can't use them outside.. whatever 'outside' means i dunno.. and there's a special permit you can seek even then.

  • Haha "Grindr".

A cheap angle grinder? What can possibly go wrong?

  • i was trying to get a multi function tool. 5 stores sold out. i have a feeling they were selling them before today when they were actually supposed to start the sale. not impressed

    • while i was there to get the Screwdriver Set 32pc, i saw plenty left at a store in bendigo.

  • Looks pretty good to me . I would buy one if i needed a new one.
