  • Add postage costs to the description. It was $5.95 for my address. It kills the deal.

  • Delivery kind of kills the deal though… unless you are ordering other things, or order 220 of them for free delivery :)

  • Does anyone know an easy way to flip an outlet upside down? Have tried searching for "power outlet flip adapter" etc. but not much luck.

    • Why? Lol

      • I'm trying to plugin one of those remote controlled "green" power adapters to control the wall panel heater. Unfortunately, the adapter is so big, and the heater so close to the power outlet, that the adapter cannot be plugged in without hitting the heater. If I could turn the outlet upside down, I can. (If you can picture this weird situation, which is why I never described it :-) )

    • plug in a $2 power board?

      • Safest option yes, but ugly to have so many wires hanging around in the living room!

Turn off circuit breakers, take off outlet face plate (if you have one), unscrew outlet, pull out and rotate 180 degrees, push back in and screw back on, pop the face plate back on then turn the circuit breakers back on.

        yes, but illegal

        • Not sure about the legality, if you aren't touching the screws which hold the wires in.

However, I recommend you don't do it. There are all sorts of unexpected ways this could be dangerous - like when you put the nice pointy mounting screws back in, they could pierce the mains wire and then go further to pierce a TV cable or ethernet cable, making those things lethal. This kills many people every year in Australia.

Electricians know all the dangers - and a lot of them, like the one above, aren't obvious.

No changes to the wiring and terminations, reusing the mounts. That's not "illegal".

        • i would consider it interfering with an electrical installation.

      • Thanks. This seems the least unsightly option.

    • I need to know the same thing, using my toaster upside down can be a challenge when I'm toasting 4 slices of bread.

  • I hate Ikea but I do like their 3-outlet powerboards

These are illegal on work sites and not recommended for workplaces in general as part of ohs most large companies have band the use of double adapters.
