Cygnett MagHold Car Holder Vent (No Charging) $22 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ The Good Guys

60

$36 to $50 elsewhere I looked.
This one does not charge your phone.
It doesn't say but I think it's recommended for Magsafe on iPhone, many reviews say if using the included metal ring stickers on your phone/case the magnetism is very weak.
I considered getting this but decided not to after reading a comment on the recent Cygnett Maghold (with Charger) deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/813962

comment said the friction vent grip manages to slowly lose it's grip and come off when hitting a bump. my old spring "clamp" phone vent holder with the same friction grip has never come off, but I think it's because the Cygnett is so large and protrudes so far out it is too heavy for the friction grip.

Still if anyone wants to give it a try for the convenience of Magnetic attachment.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

I’m speaking for your car because it can’t speak for itself :P - don’t buy this if you value having your vents remain in one piece. Phones are heavy these days.

      "Phones are heavy these days."

yeah true I didn't think about that because I have a mini model. not only your vents, but I reckon the heavier your phone the harder time it will have sticking magnetically because all the iPhone magnets inside are standardised and the same in all models as far as i know.

I just considered it briefly because I have a TGG close by. but for me the convenience of magnetically sticking vs opening a clamp every time (my existing old school cheapo that has never failed me) didn't make sense if I am risking the phone falling every 3rd time I drive the car.

I’ve got the charger/windscreen mount model for my 14PM and I’ll admit it does bend a bit down from the weight, but it sits pretty firm once it’s had its little “ugh” from holding the weight. The magnet actually feels pretty solid, nice “clack” when it locks into place.

        • yeah and as far as I can tell, the larger contact area of this Cygnett design will definitely help add some additional grip together with the magnetism. I would probably avoid the round ones (Cygnett has one model below this which is round).
