No exclusions for JB HiFi gift cards which means that you can use this to buy JB HiFi gift cards at 20% discount. Perfect for those that missed out on the current 15% discount on TCN cards at Coles.

    • I hope this works as I have my eye on something that's over $200. This would mean I could buy giftcards twice and use them saving $40 instead of $20.

      • +1

To make your life easier, buy a $200 JB HiFI gift card and ask the cashier to split it into 2 x $100 payments on the same Amex card.

      • +4

Unless you want to purchase online, can't you split the payment and pay twice with same card for the item in store? One transaction instead of three.

        • +2

Or just purchase 2 $100 gift cards online.

  • +1

Got it on my Qantas Discovery but not on Velocity Escape.

FYI the offer appears as "Black Friday" in the list.

    • Main cardholders' offer, one only.

  • Oh man I need nespresso

  • I never get the good ones

  • Not on my Qantas Amex

  • Damn didnt get this on Amex Plat, Amex Rewards Advantage or Plat Reserve Didnt get it on mum's additional Plat Charge

    • got it on Plat Reserve

      • Yes…but can you actually activate it??

  • Didn’t get on platinum or essentials

  • I got this one instead -5 membership point per $1 spent up to 2500 points.. for HN and GG. What is that equal in terms of $$

    • +1

      About 2.5% off

  • Got it on Qantas discovery and platinum edge primary cards only

  • +1

    Missed out again.

I move about 20k each month through my personal platinum card and continue to get absolute rubbish offers.

    • +1

I have no evidence, but maybe this is why - you're already a big spender so they don't need to incur any marketing expense to get to you use the card.

  • +5

Also stackable with all of these
    https://myamexshop.com.au/the-iconic/ (up to 12.5% cashback)
    https://myamexshop.com.au/farfetch/ (up to 12.5% cashback)
    https://myamexshop.com.au/the-good-guys/ (up to 5% cashback)

    • Never used this, so its just like a portal, guess you can use cashrewards or shopback etc as you are not coming the respective app or rewards page

  • Got on Discovery, not on Essentials

  • can i buy GC at jb or tgg? thx~

    • +1

Yes. Amex don't know what buying

  • +3

Looks like you can purchase JB gift cards online and get it emailed as when purchasing it stays on the JB website and not transferred to a gift card portal like myer.

  • +1

Is getting $200 worth of Apple gift cards in store eligible for credit? Will it go to another payment gateway?
I know $200 can’t buy much at Apple, but still.

  • +2

I got the email to save the offer to my card but cannot see it when I login to the Amex App. Weird!

    • Same 🫤

    • I have the same issue with my other Amex card. Hope it will pop up soon later.

    • Update : Spoke to Amex Customer Care. Apparently this is a known issue that a lot of people have reported. The Rep asked me to share a screenshot of the offer email after which they would have to manually upload the offer to my account

      • Did you call them or was it via live chat?

        • Called them. I am waiting for the Email with the link to upload the offer screenshot now.

          • @bargainhunt2020: I just did a live chat with them and the rep said the offer will be up for the members who received the email but not available to save on their account in a few hours.

            • +1

@FrugalNotStingy: Does anyone have this issue fixed? I also chatted online and was told to wait until the offer appearing in my app.

              • @lesliejmc: I’m still waiting.

                • @FrugalNotStingy: Thanks, will check in app again tomorrow. Though it has a limit of first 50k cards

                  • +1

@lesliejmc: Just got off the live chat with Amex. Had to fight back and forth to get the rep to find someone to manually add the offer to my account.

At first, the rep gave me a spiel like, the offer is new so the system needs time to process all the offers yadi yada. Then, they said the offer is not available to multiple cards to the same customer, which we all know, is a load of bull.
After telling them that it’s not true as I have had the same offers on multiple cards in the past, they then resorted to the ‘it must be your browser’s problem’ and provided me with info on how to change browser, all those rookie troubleshootings steps.

I then told them the main issue is not browser problem, the issue is that the offer is not available on my account for me to enrol and I threaten to escalate the issue further for false advertised offers as I got proof (my offer email). The rep then get someone more technical to manually add the offer to my account as a ‘one-off exception’. Once they added the offer to my account, I received an enrolled offer email.

Saving 40 bucks is hard work nowadays :P

          • @bargainhunt2020: I called them again and they added the offer manually to my card. I got another email that my card is enrolled and can see it saved to my card in the app now.

            • @bargainhunt2020: Tried 2 online chat agents and didn't work - guess I'll have to call them now.

    • Check the website. I had the same problem in App.

  • Is this “up to 2 times” per store (can do 2 times at jb hifi then 2 times at the good guys etc) or 2 times in total per promotion?

    • +9

Up to two times in total during the promotion. Some examples:

      • If you spend $100 at JB Hi-Fi, you will receive $20 credit. If you then spend $100 at JB Hi-Fi in a separate transaction, you will receive another $20 credit.

      • If you spend $160 at The Good Guys, you will receive $20 credit. If you then spend $40 at JB Hi-Fi, you will receive another $20 credit.

      • If you spend $200 in one transaction at JB Hi-Fi, you will receive $40 credit.

      • If you spend $200 in one transaction at JB Hi-Fi, you will receive $40 credit. If you then spend $100 at The Good Guys, you will receive no more credit.

      • +1

        Thanks

      • Are you sure this is correct? In your 3rd example, my expectation was that that you'd only receive $20 credit. I thought you'd only receive one $20 credit for each transaction regardless of amount spent. Has anyone tested this?

        • +1

With similar previous credit offers, it worked like that. So I think it’s correct.

        • +3

          I am sure, because:

          • The terms and conditions says you need to spend $100 or more in one or more transactions to receive the credit.

          • There is nothing specifically written in the terms and conditions of this offer that says you will only receive $20 credit in one transaction. Such wording appeared in an EG Ampol / AMEX offer I recently redeemed a while ago.

          • For an instore Ampol / AMEX offer earlier this year, someone confirmed they spent $100/$120/$150 in one transaction and received the full $10 credit in one hit.

          • For the 2021 AMEX Black Friday offer (which had similar wording to this current deal), someone spent $389 in one transaction and received the full $40 credit.

        • +2

I will update you guys on this, I just soent $220 at good guys for 1 item/1 transaction.
I’ll let you know if I get $20 or 2x$20 back.

  • I'm guessing this won't work on the good guys commercial store?

    • +1

I also assumed it wouldn't work but it did. Very pleased, purchase was already way cheaper on the commercial store.

  • Received on platinum reserve but not platinum charge.

    • Same here

  • Can we use this to purchase any gift cards like apple?

  • Purchased $400 gift card split paid $100 over 4 cards and received Amex email

    • 4 different cards?

      • 2 primary cards $100 each transaction 4 times

      • JB instore

  • +1

Ugh online purchase at JB fails verification. Always have this issue. Will have to go instore. =_=

    • How are you certain? I made a purchase in store a few hours ago but did not receive a verification email. Just monitor your account over the next few days.

      • I think he meant his JB online order failed JB’s verification which means the order got cancelled. He wasn’t referring to the offer used confirmation email he should receive for the transaction.

      • Yeah I got the "order cancelled" email from JB.

  • Did not see on Plat/Plat Edge. Got some elements bar & grill useless thing.

  • Got an email for Platinum Reserve but can't seem to activate it. Spoke to Amex rep but no luck so far :(

    • Sent offer via email to Platinum Reserve. Don't see it under offers. Cannot activate. Spoke to online chat and they can't activate it for me either. Offer cap hasn't been reached yet either!! WHAT?!!

      • What was their excuse? Did they tell you to wait?

        • Yeah they did. Just told me to keep waiting, as there is nothing any agent can do on their end. Wait for what? The offer cap to be reached? I've seen on a few facebook group posts where some have successfully had theirs added via chat with an agent. Not sure why mine can't be will try the 4th online chat agent now…

    • +1

I got on chat as well and the agent (Seth is his name) added the offer to the card no questions asked! I did mention that people have had their offer manually added after taking the matter onto Facebook.. Keep trying and good luck! Maybe ask for Seth 😅

  • Any idea if can buy $200 in 1 transaction and get $40 back?

    • yes

    • I just tried, let's see

      • The only way this would work is if you split the transactions using the same card. $100 minimum for each split

        • +1

Not necessarily. When it’s in one or more transactions.. the system aggregates the total spend per merchant.

It has always been this way with Amex for the past deals

      • did it work @mbm

        • I got push notification saying the offer was activated, no cashback returned yet though

        • +8

I received $40 credit after spending $200 in one transaction at JB HiFi

  • Oh well i did two transactions
One at TTG ( over $200)
and the other @ JB just over $100

Am interested what happens but also had amex offer of points @ TGG also [and cashrewards ]

    Thanks @wookie

  • +1

Excludes airport JB Hifi, realised after I used it!

  • Just got on the chat and the agent (Alfred) added it for me.

  • Are we still meant to receive emails when we use offers? I didn't realise my app had deactivated notifications.

Or for this one is no one getting emails and the credit is showing up after a few days?

    • +1

I seem to have gotten one credit and not the second. Will have to chase it up. I got one email.

      • Hi @kwchaz,

        Same situation.
Today, I made "two separate" transactions.
        But, only got "one" email-notification.
Email's Subject: You just used your Black Friday Amex Offer Email. (One Email Only)

Did you end up getting "one x $20 credit" (or two x $20 credit)?

      • Those offer used notification emails from Amex are hit and miss. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don’t but got my credit every time.

    • +3

      No email but credit received.

    • +1

I've gotten notifications and e-mails for my JB Hi-Fi purchases

  • Is purchasing TGG gift cards online eligible for the offer?

    • +1

Probably not, it says Gift Card by True Rewards.

JB Hi-Fi gift card may be eligible.
