[Pre Order] Fanatec Gaming Wheel Base Side Quick Release QR2 $39 Type C, $49 Type M + $13.34 Postage

130

This is part of the Black Friday series from Fanatec. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/812800 for a more general discussion.

I'm listing this separately as there may quite a few people who want to upgrade existing Fanatec wheel bases to the new and apparently much better quick release system (and really, really don't want to play more than $100 for a glorified USB connector).

Price is still not great, but probably about as good as it will get for a while, but be aware:

  • This is base side only. No deals on wheel side connectors yet. Maybe tomorrow?
  • Fanatec have said stock is limited on all black Friday items, so if you want to lock it in, you need to buy today and accept paying for shipping twice if a good deal on wheel side connectors happens tomorrow. Or you can take your chances on stock still being available tomorrow.
  • Fanatec marked mine as shipped in less than 8 hours.

I grabbed this today, as the base side is likely to have a limited production life and prices probably won't get much better at EOL.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

  • Wow nice

  • Better pricing, seems like a carrot to get people to purchase the wheel side at full price.

    • They've pulled several listings - 2xWS, 2xWS+1xBS - I'm guessing they may be an upcoming discount deal? I'll be annoyed if there is now a deal with the base side and multiple wheel sides, but I guess we'll see.

Combine this with a discount on a McLaren or a 2.5 Formula wheel and I'll be pretty happy.

      • Yeah I'm wondering whether I should just get base side and wheel side now, or just base side and hope the wheel side pops up in a deal too and cop the extra shipping later

  • would love to upgrade my logitech wheel but my head spins at the complexity of what I have to buy.. The new Clubsport DD looks good but after that I get lost.. maybe i'll just stick to the crappy logitech..

    • +1

I went from a Logitech G29 to Fanatec, and the upgrade to a direct drive wheel is definitely worth it.. particularly if you're planning to invest alot of time in sim racing. I went to the 8nm DD drive a few years ago, and it's definitely strong enough.

I presume the 12nm and 16nm Clubsport DD bases are even more hardcore.. 8nm on the original DD is enough for me

  • Crossing my fingers and toes for a deal on the DD Base for Playstation.

    • Wasn't it just released.. so I assume no?

      • +2

I'm after the GT DD Pro which came out in Nov 2021, not the new Clubsport DD+
