  • Good price. This used to be like $60-65.

Weird; beer going up, spirits coming down.

  • Wow so cheap! If only this was national, I would stock up on the Crowns and Johnnie Blk!

  • Any idea what that fine print says at the bottom of page 24?

  • Do they take print outs? Don't really want to sift through junk mail to find the catalogue.

If only IGA sold liquor in QLD.

    • And SA!

Just had it price matched at Dan Murphy's in Prahran VIC. Got 3 bottles with 3 printed vouchers (let me keep vouchers).

  • +2

Damn this would go good with my rekordlig! If only it was in SA also.

    • +1

      No, No it would not!

All cheap booze is good :D

I thought you were going to mix JW black and cider, which is probably what Invidicus thought.

        • Haha that is exactly what I pictured.

        • +2

I'm open to new ideas. YOLO (going to get negged for that :P)

Checked out their NSW catalogue and it's listed there for $38. Could probably get it beaten at Dans or 1st Choice. Cheers!

  • Does it taste much different to the normal stuff (I think, red label?)

    • +6

Red or Black, much of a muchness when you add your favourite sugar loaded beverage to it. The taste of spirits only matters if you are drinking them neat and this isn't the type of whisky you drink neat.

      • -2

Yup in terms of straight or "neat" this would be the bottle of the barrel. You can drink it, but you really won't want to.

        • +1

          Nonsense.

JW Black is quite a respectable whisky for drinking neat (or with a splash of water or on ice or however you like your non-mixed whisky) - depending on your palate, of course.

Quite different to JW Red, which only tastes less bad when mixed with lots of fizzy sugary water.

Most of the distinctive flavour in JW Black is from the Islay / West Coast whiskies in the blend (including a good dose of Talisker) - it's smoky and peaty. If that's not your style, then it's not going to appeal. Try something lighter, fruitier, spicier, or more floral. Different whiskies are… different.

Until about 5 years ago, Black was quite an expensive drop. Now it's not. Usually in the $40s, sometimes in the $30s like this. That's lucky, because my bottle keeps getting empty.

If it's good enough for Hitchens, Gaddafi and Hussein, it's good enough for me:

        • You misunderstood.

I meant the lowest on the JW range you would go for drinking scotch neat.

Not that JW black is a crap scotch.

Regular price of Johnnie Walker at Dans is $49.95…this weeks price is $44.95. Dans will beat the Iga price with original coupon and not a photocopy. Coupon is valid for one bottle. I am an employee at Dans

    • Just bought two bottles at Doncaster DM just by showing the staff the pdf file on my phone.

      • I had a little trouble with my print out, the guy wouldn't accept I had to show him on an Ipad that the catalog was in E-format, and printable, therefore no different to a delivered one. This was at IGA in Taylors Lakes.

He made up a limit of one per customer, and I was going to argue but I am happy with just one for the moment…

  • Great find love this stuff, I think its actually any 'supa' IGA store.

    Go to: http://iga.dynamiccatalogue.com.au/portal/storelocator

    Direct link to Coupon: http://images.lasoomedia1.com.au/imageicon/iga/prod/j0052221…

And see if your nearest IGA store has the same catalog, mine does!!

(click on the store and then a pop up shows 'view catalog' click on that and any 'Supa' IGA should have the same deal.

    Cheers.

    • any iga with liquor :)
