Any Recommendations and Deals for Good Clothes Dryer ?

Hi all, planning to buy a good clothes dryer this Black Friday sales.

  • Heat pump vs regular? - In for energy savings but would that dry equally well?
  • Brand - Used Fisher Paykel but ok with anything else
  • Price - $1000 or < $1000
  • Features - Easy on wrinkles? And not spoil clothes which many do

    • Thanks

  • I would get the Esatto EHPD80 which is what I have at home…if you have a read on the comments for the deals listed for this particular model, most users seem happy with the performance they get for the price they pay

Definitely get a heat pump - they dry equally well but you will need to dry the clothes for longer (which is arguably better to prevent shrinkage and for the longevity of the clothes anyway)

    • Thanks. Is reverse tumble dry a good feature to have ?

I use the OzBargain clothes dryer - the sun. At least one bonus about living in Qld, never had the need to ever buy a clothes dryer.

    • I stopped doing that when I realised I was spending hours removing lint from underwear and socks by hand. Using a dryer automatically de-lints your clothing. Should probably use low heat setting for elastics.

Lint?! Never had that issue. Are you mixing with towels?

I live in Melbourne and we just dry inside on airers and the balcony rail. In winter it takes a bit of extra time but we very rarely use our tumble dryer.

Yeah but you can't beat the fluffiness of a towel dried in a drier, they're rough af when they're line-dried. I line dry pretty much everything else.

      • You can partially dry then finish off in the dryer. Either that or exfoliate your body.

        • Haha yeah no the cheapskate in me does have me doing that already. I'll hang them so they're folded evenly over the line so that only one side dries, leaving enough moisture for a decent fluff up in the drier.

Same here. Plus a backup dryer from hard rubbish incase something needs to be dry in a hurry. Only ever used it twice.

  • Heat pump works well if you do regular cleaning of the filters as it will get clogged up every 10 cycles or so. I do collect the water condensations for other purposes like gardening or some general washing so it is pretty sustainable. And the biggest advantage is your dont need an exhaust in your laundry area as regular dryers will blow out steam and cause the laundry room wall to have condensation. So you can close the laundry door when using heat pump.

  • This or the LG DVH508W. Ok to pay 500$ more but if this Essato is a good brand that will last then will give it a try. Never used them before
