  • I'm not sure how easy it is for other makes, but for my old BMW I bought an adapter cable on eBay for around $15 and downloaded free BMW diagnostic software on my laptop.

    • You mean an odb2 adapter? What's the diagnostic software?

      • Not sure about all the terminology but I bought a 'KCAN DCAN OBD2 USB' cable and downloaded INPA software from a forum (on second thought that software may not be entirely legal, so my comment may not be appropriate here).

    • +1

Yep, that works fine for a single Make (BMW in this case), but the advantage of something like the X7 is that it handles multiple makes and models.

  • Are these things practical for identifying difficult to trace faults such as those that might occur in ignition sequences.

  • Serious question - what does this do that Torque Pro doesn't?

Oh and if you have a Toyota, there are people out there who've ported TechStream.

  • +1

There is much better price AU $506.22 (with BF22AU) on newer model D7S - better CPU, more RAM and later version Android IIRC

    • Good pickup, thanks! I'll update the OP.
