WD Red Plus WD120EFBX 12TB (256MB Cache) 3.5" NAS Hard Drive $429 (Was $475) Delivered ($0 C&C) + Surcharge @ Centre Com

80

12TB WD Red Plus with 7200RPM.

Great choice for a home server. Been waiting for months for these to have a sale.

I saw a sale for 10TB elsewhere (around the $300+ mark) however these are apparently much louder due to not being (or only partially) filled with helium.

Surcharges: 1.2% Card & PayPal, 2% AmEx.
Free shipping excludes WA, NT & remote areas.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

  • 12tb exos available locally for the same price (and has been for a few weeks)

Otherwise I just received a new 12tb exos OEM from east digital ebay for $260 delivered- slightly cheaper today due to fx rate

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/276131162915?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

    • nice find didnt see these. Higher maximal transfer rate too.

if you have installed the new ones, how are they for sound? exos and enterprise drives in general are meant to be noisier but to be honest I have never owned any myself.

      • Yep, installed lastnight in nvr and it chirps a bit. For comparison ive got 3 ironwolfs sitting in a nas and never noticed any sounds from them. Both nvr and nas sit together on a desk

  • Can you post the link for the 10TB deal?

I'm looking for Ironwolf or Red Plus in either 8TB or 10TB

Thanks for that, yeah it's still looking like its over $32/TB. Was hoping for approx $25 target. Good find on the 10TB noise level, Ironwolf Pro Helium filled are probably the quietest I've seen from datasheets (20dB idle, 26dB seeking https://www.seagate.com/content/dam/seagate/en_au/content-fr…), but there's only one model out of 3 in 10TB that's helium.

        • the deal posted by Doesnotcompute hits that target but unfortunately for me the noise of those drives is a big consideration and I think those exos do get loud. good stuff with the Ironwolfs, prompted me to check the specs of WD10TB and looks like it has an idle of 34db…
i would like to wait for $25/TB too but unless a deal like that pops up tomorrow for 12TB and above for a helium drive i'll get these WD12TB. my server is currently 90+% capacity so I am getting desperate

I have a couple of 10 TB WD Red Plus (maybe Pros?) and anyway they do this Pre-emptive Wear Levelling thing.

They make clunk-clunk sounds every 5 seconds. Drove me nuts in the beginning but now it's background noise… can't sleep without it!

There is one on ebay, but not sure how much I trust a China shipped ebay account. Potentially refurbished?

@imalobster sorry to both you again, but can you verify you also see this as 256.62?
Ironwolf 8TB non helium with code BF22AU https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/126170718847

If you can see it I'll post up as a deal, best price so far for 8TB Ironwolf

    • I’m seeing if as $329 then $65.80 off. $263.20 is the cheapest I can find but not sure if amazing (or am I being too stingy lol)

    • hey mate you are right its the ebay codes kicking in for the price. I see $263.20 with the BF20AU code applied

    Any deal for 4Tb ?

    • I just ordered two from Amazon.
      Three left in stock.

      https://amzn.asia/d/82BBhmV

      • 4TB WD Red+ price has kept fluctuating over the last week. $169, $126, $169… 🤦‍♂️

Ironwolf can be had for $115ea if you buy 2 or more.

        • I'm bought the NAS ones in case I need to replace any of my current four 4TB NAS drives.

  • Or 6tb

  • so much more expensive than the 10TB for only 2TB extra

    • +1

the 10TB are 50% noisier which for me is a deal breaker. but otherwise with respect to just $/TB you are right the 10TB is better value

are you right next to your NAS?

        • some times, it sits near the living room and the master bedroom. great if you don't need to worry about it but i do
