Can you add this as a credit to your subway app account?

    • +4

Yes but it's a weirdly manual process, where you have to call their customer service line and speak to a human operator to merge the balances. It's not a difficult process to be fair, last time I did it there was no wait time, and the only information they requested was the number of the gift card then the number of your Subcard.

This doesn't apply to gift cards that are used like credit cards such as the Ultimate Gift Cards from Blackhawk, with those you can just enter the details yourself on the website or app to add balance to your Subcard like any other credit card.

EDIT: See clause 2 in their T&Cs for details.

You can transfer gift dollars from your Subway® eGift card to your Subcard® via the Service Centre 1300 023 578. You can reload and Top Up an Subway® eGift card if it is registered. You can transfer gift dollars from one Subway® eGift card to another Subway® eGift card, and the original gift dollars expiry date will remain. You cannot use gift dollars to purchase a Subway® eGift card.

      • Thank you! Bought $500 worth, couldn’t bring myself mentally to max out the $1000 limit.

        • How long does it take you to use up $500 worth of subway credit?

          • @momo1988: $9 x 3 days a week X 48 weeks = $1298per year..

            So 5 months.

@Vorsprungdurchtech: For anyone wondering, after purchase, the e-gift card email has instructions to merge the e-gift card balance onto your main Subcard simply via the App and Online:

              Already have a
              Subcard® account?
Link your eGift card to your registered Subcard® account.
Login at order.subway.com/en-au, click ‘Subcard®’ in the navigation bar, and then ‘Merge Cards’*.

I've just submitted it via the app, but just said "thanks, we're on it!", not sure how long it'll take to show up on my main balance, i guess we'll see…..

              • @Vorsprungdurchtech: Can confirm ^^^

@Vorsprungdurchtech: Interesting. Looks like there are two types of Subway gift card depending on where you get it from then. Ones that come with a 4-digit "access code" where you can merge them online or in the app, and ones with a 9 character PIN where you have to do it with a phone call.

Good deal, but a bit painful process to add the giftcard to your subcard!

  • How long does it take to receive a digital gc?
For the seldom sub eater…you just show them the gc, you don't need some subclub membership as others above have mentioned?

      No. As per T&Cs:

You do not need to register a Subway® eGift card to use it. You can present a valid Subway® eGift card at any participating Subway® restaurant to use the gift dollars available on the Subway® eGift card to purchase Subway® products except for Subway® gift cards or adding credit to your Subcard® account (see section 5 [Subway® gift dollars and using your Subcard® as a gift card] for more details). Your gift dollars balance will appear on your receipt each time you make a purchase using a Subway® eGift card at a participating Subway® restaurant, or if registered it will display in the Subcard® account balance on the Subway® app or Website.

    • If you register a Subcard account, you get 3.6% back on your purchases as reward dollars. Not much, around 50c for a footlong but not nothing I suppose.

  • Can pay with ultimate gift cards for further savings
