Woody Allen Collection Boxset (20 Films) [DVD] - $23 Delivered @ HMV

Possibly a misprice, but HMV are putting out quite a few cheap boxsets at the moment. So I have a feeling the price is genuine.

Price is £10 + £4.50 Delivery x 1.58 = $23

  • Great deal! Im trusting your gut that it isnt mispriced :)

    • +1

just found out that it is the same price in store apparently, so should be no problems with this being honoured

  • it only says 1 disc in the description.. that might suggest a misprint?

    • -1

      I hope it doesn't mean "per disc"…
but then a disc can hold multiple movies

  • +1

    Cheers, ordered.

  • They also have quite a good selection in the '5 for 30 pounds' blu ray section

Works out around $10 a movie.

  • 40 quid + postage at Zavvi and 35 + postage at Amazon. Also note that other boxsets at HMV also say 1 disc. Anyway ordered :-)

  • Ordered!

Web site appears a bit BROKEN:

    1. trying to create new user / acc't, it said my eMail address was KNOWN to it

    2. asking for new-password process (send details to my eMail address), it said eMail address was UNKNOWN

(Yes, I checked thr eMail & it was same…)

    !!!

  • Thanks, got it :)

Picked this up for the step dad for Christmas. Thanks!

    • +1

Be careful, he might divorce your mother and marry you now. I believe that's called being Woody'd.

  • Thanks for the post. Ordered.

  • Call me old fashioned, but is no-one concerned about any sort of region lock? TBH I have a PS3 (unmodded) and don't know if this will work at all (NB. not a problem if you have a universal player).

    • Ahhhhhh shiiiiit. Too late.

    • -1

The Australian PS3 is DVD region free so there isn't a problem playing region 2 DVD's on it. I've been playing region 2 DVD on my aussie PS3. It's only when it comes to blu-ray is the aussie PS3 region locked.

      • Your edit has been noted! Thanks :)

      • around 70% of blu ray are region free anyway

      • Really? My aussie ps3 cant play any region 2 dvds at all….

    • I have a Panasonic bluray player and it can't play a couple of UK DVDs I have. Pretty annoying.

  • +2

Note that the catalog number listed on the website (3846801000) is for the 20 disc boxed set so there should be no confusion as to what is being advertised for sale here.

  • +1

No VAT removal. I wonder if they are passing it on to HM Revenue.

  • +1

I still have the Woody Allen 8 disc box set I bought from Amazon for $150 back in 2005 , man I got ripped!!

  • Great value, bought it, thanks

  • Ordered. I wonder if they won't cancel our orders. :)

    Thank you.

  • Bought, thanks.

  • Anyway, now that I have ordered it….. so….. are these movies any good? :P

    • Sorry, my irony detector is broken, but yes they are good and many are excellent. I don't see any lemons on that list. Ordered mine.

    • Yes many of them are. The average IMDB rating for this collection would be pretty high. My personal faves from here are below. Just wish this set had Take the Money and Run.

ANNIE HALL: Comedian Alvy Singer falls for ditzy but delightful Annie Hall in this Best Picture OSCAR® Winner.

BANANAS: Fielding Mellish becomes the president of a banana republic.

CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS: Martin Landau plays an adulterous husband contemplating murder.

  • …and Ordered! Great price for a great collection. Thank you.

Just letting people know, if you go to the site on a mobile browser (phone/tablet), there appears to be a glitch. For me at least it was only displaying the unaltered price of £55. Had to request the desktop site to see the special. If you don't experience the problem - no worries; just didn't want the poster receiving unnecessary down-votes for the website's error.

    Thanks again!

  • Damn. Went to order about 30min ago (opened webpage). Just now added to basket, went to checkout - now £55 :-/
    too slow!

  • expired

  • They must have corrected the pricing error. Ohwell!

  • Why didn't I come on earlier? I already own a few on blu-ray, but I'm still disappointed :(

  • +1

Has anyone had theirs marked as despatched?
Mine still says "Awaiting stock allocation"

  • +2

I just got an email saying they still haven't any stock but expect it within 7-10 days.
Interesting given the site says 1-3 days.

I expect a cancellation this time next week, unfortunately.

  • Yep I got a similar email after enquiring about it's whereabouts.
    Fingers crossed it turns up.

"Due to high demand, this product sold out very quickly, and we’re currently out of stock. We have however secured additional stock that we are expecting in approximately 7 to 10 days, and we will despatch then. You will receive a confirmation of despatch email when we’re sending the item."

  • Now taken down from the site so even more unlikely that we'll see it.

  • HMV FAIL:

You asked us to send you WOODY ALLEN COLLECTION.

We're so sorry but we've run out of stock at the promotional price, so we're not going to be able to send it to you. Your order number was 33346437. We've cancelled the product from your order and haven't charged you for it. Don't worry about any other items on your order – there's no problem with them.

We really hope you're not too disappointed. We're always running special offers on www.hmv.com, so keep checking as the item may pop up again.

    • My order is still there?? pending..

  • +1

Well what do you know? Just received the following notification from HMV:

Your order's in the post and should be with you soon. If you've pre-ordered, we'll aim to get it to you on the day of release (UK deliveries only).

I'll let you know when, it arrives.

    • Same here! woo

      • Me too.

I also received the earlier message regarding the 7 to 10 day delay; I'm guessing that the orders which were cancelled did not receive that earlier message.

        • +1

          My order has been sent.

Looking at the latest comments at www.hotukdeals.com for this deal, the deliveries sent by HMV have just reached it's UK customers, they are reporting it is the 20 movie boxset that is being sent.

    • It has arrived! Very impressed - 20 movies on 10 discs delivered from the UK for just over $20.

  • Anybody got it yet? They said 7-10 days (normal for UK post) but it has been 15 days now.

    • Yes! I received mine today. Pretty happy with it. I'm in Melbourne btw. Order was placed on Oct-9.

      • me too. Worth the wait.

Is the "Shadows and Fog" disc label meant to be blank?

        • No, I found a few more with no title on the disc, except the fine print around the perimeter.
Will need a marker pen. Oh well, $1 each.

  • Arrived today.. i'm in melbourne..

  • Are these meant to be region free?

    • DVDs have region coding??? You really need a new player. Costs about $20 too.

      • Because I want to give this as a present and I don't know if they have a multi region player. Can anyone please confirm?

        • +1

It says "PAL, region 2" on the discs.
Last I checked most DVDs were region-locked, unlike BD which is often multi-region.

        • Thanks for confirming this for me.

  • Mine never arrived :(

    Apparently shipped on 21/10.

Got a refund (very smooth and quick process) so no real harm done.
