Torpedo7 - Route7 Dropper Post Clearance: $79 ($70 + $9 Post) 31.6mm Only

20

Have been thinking about getting a dropper post recently, but couldn't justify the $200-$400 price tags…
I new about this post, but even at $120, didn't want to take the risk, but at $70 its a no brainer IMO.

Only 75mm drop, but should do the job. It would be nice if it had a remote, but I've got a could of ideas on DIY remotes I might try.

  • what is wrong with a conventional quick release seat post clamp which you can get for a couple of dollars?

I believe you use these while moving… Not something I need cycling to the shops, but obviously it's not aimed at me.

Yeah, the idea is when approaching a DH section pull the lever & drop the post… then when the trail levels of goes up; pull the lever again and the the post rises back to the original position… no stopping, no stuffing around making sure its straight, it just works.

  • Yep, awesome price and from reviews looks to be not bad if you're wanting to try out a dropper post for the first time. I believe this comes in only 31.6 mm though, so may not fit properly into most bikes.

Would have been better to combine with the other torpedo7 post

    • That would cause confusion, as it refers only to purchases made in the SNOW section…

    • why? this is a cycling accessory, the other post is for their snow gear sale

      • Fair point, some would say its better to have the deals from the same vendor in a way where we dont have to search for them.

  • Can you quickly and easily rip off someones seat if they have one of these installed?

These are not the kind of bikes you leave outside your milkbar

  • Is this suitable for ringlock and barb or only plain wire?

    • lol. Not sure many people here will get the joke!

      • yeh - sometimes bike riding and irony don't get together that much.

  • How much does it weigh?

    • listed as 619gm… yes a boat anchor… but at this price I can't argue

  • Only does 75mm of adjustment, is it even worth it?

When I need to adjust the seat post on mine its usally ~20cm drop (UH into DH mode). But apart from that its a good price. I had a look at chainreactioncycles (another good site for parts) for a similar product and as original poster said, they're around $200+.

ps I don't find it difficult to adjust seat post using quick release while I'm riding anyway :P
