    "Useless W.Charger
Cygnett PowerPlus 45W Multiport Wall Charger last for 3 days , it's useless after 3 days, 45W was so hot that it melt the parts inside the charger making it useless, just a waste of money."

    • +5

For what it's worth, I think I have the same charging brick. I don't really use it for 45W often but more like 20W + 20W and it does get a little warm but nothing alarming. At this price I think it's a good buy, especially with included cables.

@diguinBR: As opposed to expensive Chinese Cygnett cables?

            • +1

@Clear: oh yes. compare an unknown brand product with absolutely nothing to lose, that barely control the quality of their products Vs a company that has been around since 2003 with a reputation.
I have learned my lesson “buy it nice or buy it twice” and from previous experiences, spending more on a “expensive chinese cable” from a well-known brand is worth more. I think long-term not just short-term.
              but thanks for your opinion.

              • @diguinBR: There's plenty of good quality cables that aren't inflated like a Harvey Norman HDMI cable made in China.

              • +1

@diguinBR: You're definitely right about buying it right once and being set, but unfortunately the cable market isn't as simple.

There are Chinese cables that are better than named brands everywhere and if you are able to know what to look for - relying on brand consistency just doesn't work as well as it used to anymore.

Cygnett cables are grossly overpriced and their quality have been going down.

It's easy to just look at a decent brand and pick anything than to individually look into cables so I can understand why people go off brand loyalty, but today nobody should be paying Cygnett rrp for cables because it's predatory, a rip off and doesn't correlate to quality anymore.

                • @SmoothCactus: "There are Chinese cables that are better than named brands everywhere and if you are able to know what to look for"

Are you happy to share what to look for?

                • @SmoothCactus: Thank you for showing your point mate, I agree with you, unfortunately I decided to stick to Belkin/Cygnett because every single other brand I bought, they did not last over 3 months.
I had a Belkin cable that the tip fell of, but I sent an e-mail to them and they replaced it for me. every other Belkin cable I have they are still going strong.
I have tried, Heymix, baseus, ugreen and some others that I cannot remember the name, and they were all rubbish, at least in my experience.
it could have been just bad luck? yes… but I still did not find a good-quality cheap cable, so I decided to stick to the "bigger brands"
thank you for your opinion mate, appreciate it.

    • +1

      • Do you know at what price, $10?

      • +2

Apparently Box Hill had 10 showing up in their system and was willing to price match the $10 clearance however myself and a couple of the staff could not locate their whereabouts so I gave up and ended up leaving as the store was closing……

Will try and return at 0600 hours for another thorough look…

        • Thanks for this tip! Got to price match!

      • +1

      Lol

It seems I've taken bargain hunting a step to far for the average ozbargainer. Never been so negged. Maybe they think I've hidden the last one available and that's why they will miss out?
I discovered this by accident as a wrongly placed item allowed me to buy a clearance product a few weeks later at a further discounted price.
So now I 'laybuy' but with the idea of hide now, pay less later principle.
        It's a no brainer I thought.
Doesn't always work but that's the price you pay chasing less.

    • Is Darwin where you hid it?

      • +1

It may indeed. But you will have to look super hard to find it. I'm hopeful but not 100% certain it will be there when I look again in a few weeks.

    • The price will go down faster the more you guys buy them

This comment really shows how lacking your general business and economic knowledge is.

      • This comment really shows how lacking your general business clearance process works across Bunnings stores australia wide
For example. If there is 100 products across Australia when it goes on clearance. Then when it gets to 50 it drops in price again. Then 25 it will drop again.
I made up those numbers but the point still stands. As numbers go down. So does the discount value. Hence why I pointed out for everyone to please buy stock across Australia.
So please go buy this product so I will get mine cheaper faster.

        • -1

So let me get this straight, if a product is selling well you think Bunnings is going to reduce the price the more people purchase it?

Open your eyes for just a second to the possibility that business want to make a profit. If people are happily buying it at a certain price, they're not going to lower it. They'll lower it if people aren't purchasing.

If you're going to attempt to mock someone, don't be so hilariously wrong or it just makes you look stupid.

I beg for the Australian government to teach such basic concepts in school to our future generations.

          • @pennypincher98: Ok. So let's start again.
See the clearance sticker? Know what that means. Clearance. It's gone. Not coming back. When it's sold out it's sold out.
This may come as a surprise to you
But sometimes business's stop selling a product. And sometimes they want that product gone fast. Hence many of the deals on this website. And when that happens they are not interested in making a profit on the item but just getting rid of it so shelf space can be used for another product that will give them more PROFIT.
So I thought when I explained above the Bunnings business model with regards to a clearance line you would easily understand what I meant.
Seems it wasn't so is it any clearer now?
So let me know what part of what I said is hilariously wrong because so far that's all on you.
Maybe schools don't need to teach business to every kid but if you would at least maybe call your local Bunnings to fact check me before you keep on calling me out incorrectly that would be much appreciated.
            I will await your apology.

            • -1

@DarwinBoy: Oh dear, it seems you've shifted the goalposts because you realised you were wrong.

              The initial point was:

The price will go down faster the more you guys buy them

And is now about it being a clearance item but okay let's take about clearance items.

Days on shelf is a key indicator of stock movement. The more days a product is on the shelf, especially when the line is EOL, the more that space is losing potential revenue. You said the more people buy, the lower they go which implies that if no stock moves no discounts are applied which is the complete opposite. You touched on that here:

sometimes they want that product gone fast […] not interested in making a profit on the item but just getting rid of it so shelf space can be used.

Which is correct, but in order to be correct you had to contradict yourself.

Also a life lesson for you, the 16 year old Bunnings cashier answering the phone isn't the one to decide the price on the shelf. I wouldn't expect you to know that though, so I'll give you a pass on that.

              I will await your apology.

I apologise that you were given arrogance instead of knowledge. It must make life hard for you always thinking you're right when you are so wrong.

Now you've got two options: double down on stupidity and arrogance or accept this as a learning experience so next time you'll know. Which one will you take?

              • @pennypincher98: So did you fact check with Bunnings the information I provided?
So I'm going to double down as you're still so very wrong.
It was always a clearance item as per the attached picture taken by the OP. I never changed anything. I only gave further information to clarify the point once you suggested I was wrong.
The basis on how Bunnings operate regarding clearance items still applies. as pointed out by myself previously.
I stand by the fact that once certain stock levels are reached further reduction in prices will apply.
If you chose to continue to differ in opinion with me there is nothing else I can say so I suggest you approach Bunnings for clarification on the matter as I can't say it any differently.

                • @DarwinBoy:

once certain stock levels are reached further reduction in prices will apply.

This was not your point. The point you made was the quicker customers buy a product, the faster they will reduce that product.

The fact you're still asking me to call up a 16 year old guy on minimum wage about a question decided by pricing analysts is hilarious. I think you're confusing who loads the discount with who puts the sign on. I know, I've worked at both ends. Plus I studied the Bunnings model vs Masters etc at uni, and how they've remained the dominant almost monopolistic force.

This is the kind of comedic entertainment you just can't find in any TV show. Please by all means, don't stop now. Tell me more about your "Bunnings business model".

                  • +3

@pennypincher98: haha classic internet argument with a random stranger. No one wins in the end.

                    • @first in line: Not so much winning but attempting to educate. As it goes, you can educate ignorance but you can't fix stupidity, you can only laugh at it and laugh at it I certainly did. At least tomorrow at the office there'll be something to lift up those Monday spirits :)

                      • -1

@pennypincher98: Well I will be laughing when I will be able to get my item at a much cheaper rate sooner because of all our fellow ozbargainers even if you think you're still right.
But please. Next time you're at Bunnings have a chat and discuss their clearance price reduction process so you can hear it from someone other then me.

                        • @DarwinBoy: Lol if "at least I'll maybe get my item $5 cheaper if it's still there in about 3 weeks, hasn't been moved and they've further discounted it" is worth it to you, go ahead.

I've studied their business model and their clearance reduction process is the exact same as every other store - reduce price if not selling remaining stock. This is why theoretically hiding stock will reduce the price as head office is not in the retail store, they think it's just sitting there on the shelf not selling. It's due to low sales, not high sales.

If you only understand one thing from this, please let it be that high sales don't generate higher discounts.

                          • @pennypincher98: I can only repeat myself so many times but please talk to a staff member when you are next in store.
I can go into specific examples to validate and support what I've been told but can't be bothered.
Just have a chat with a staff member, maybe that 16 year old might surprise you, but I was told by a full time staff member at the tool shop so maybe start there.
Maybe you might learn something to go with all that study you have done.
Won't be the first time study has been trumped by real life experience.

                            • @DarwinBoy: I thought this was a long joke but going through your history, I am genuinely so worried for you… I hope things get better my dude.

I brought up all this to a few staff members when doing stock inquiry and they said the opposite of what you're claiming happens and had some colorful words for what you claimed you did.

I hope you have the capacity for introspection to maybe one day eventually figure out the real reason why you were down voted this hard, cuz it isn't what you suggested that's for sure.

                              • @SmoothCactus: Ok. I will.give some further insight for clarity.
A while ago i saw a clearance item, good price, paid and happy. Many weeks later i saw exact same item misplaced nearby with similar items.
When going to pay i was happily surprised it was now cheaper. Discovered prices continue to reduce in price but exact process was unknown at this stage.
This year i saw another item on clearence. Good price but not good enough for me. It reduced again. Better price but still not interested.
Clearance ticket disappeared and many weeks later out of curiosity i checked the price and it was now further reduced to $47 from original $300. That was good enough for me to buy 2.
Going to my final point. Another clearance item. Its on the shelf for about 3 or 4 months and clearance price remains unchanging. As patient as i am i eventually ask a staff member. They check and tell me it had been through 4 price reductions so far and were surprised it was still there. They explain to me the process as stated in my above comments and were happy to sell me the 4 that were left with a further doacount.
So. Clearance items often get discount and sold to the public like we see on ozbargain but also quite often items slip through the cracks for different reasons. Its a big store. It happens.
Im simply stacking the deck in my favour for further discounts just like ive seen happen numerous other times.
If some people dont like that so be it. If i actually cared enough we could do a poll.
The information i have said in my above comments was told to me by a bunnings staff member and i will consider them more reliable then random internet strangers.

Someone with powerpass access should just post the stores with that $10 price
