  • Nice… 7 Eleven, Coles Mobile, Coles, Big W :p

    • Are they $10 in all of the above do u mean?

  • +2

Carn wools , bring back 12.60aud per 45days.

    • I forget, how did that work?

    • buy 1years worth(8) vouchers 1/2 price -10% rewards discount = net$100 in exchange for: 40 gig (3G)data + $250 voice calls/mo plus $250 Ooptus money/mo. It was the offer TL$ couldn't top.

  • Be weary of these older prepaid cards.
I've come across many that were already active or with their numbers recycled and were still being sold on store shelves. Make sure you hold onto your receipts in case anything like this does happen.

  • Can I get a data pack to use w/ my tablet ? last time I tried one I thought I was getting 3GB , but it didn't happen.

How much time do I have to activate it? I know that friends would like to use it when they go through the outback ( Telstra has better coverage ) next year in Feb. Or do I need to wait for a similar bargain until next year?

    • +1

You'll need to check the back of the pack as stock varies from store to store. In the past, ozbargainers have reported upto around 12 months.

      • Thanks for that, I will check it then! So you say there is supposed to be something like an "expiry date" on the back, right?

        • Yup. The ones I got from Coles expire 2015

  • So you HAVE to get a new number? Can't keep your existing number?

    • I think with telstra you would be able to transfer the credit to your existing number.

      • What about coming from another carrier?

        • No transfer credit is only between telstra.

        • Just chatted with online Telstra help. The lady told me I can port my Optus number over.

        • Just be wary. I do not think you can buy say 3 of these and use them to top up.

        • +1

Their is a limit of $10 per day i think for pre-paid and they charged 25c for the transfer.

        • To keep your existing number call them or go to a telstra store.

For all those who keep asking again and again whenever this deal gets posted, this is how it works. The cheapest way (not necessarily the most efficient way) to take advantage of these packs for mobile phones is to port out the number to another carrier at the end of the first month. Do this using a $2 optus or vodafone sim. Once the number gets ported to another service, call up Telstra again with a new starter pack to port the number back to Telstra. Porting usually takes more or less than 2 hours, well that was the case at least in my case. I usually do it late night so that your usage doesnt get affected. So, it will cost you $12.00 per month ($10 starter pack + $2 sim pack for another carrier) to have a reliable Telstra service and also free talk and text between 6 pm and 6 am if you select the prepaid cap encore plan.

For Ipads, call up Telstra to activate a new sim every month and will only cost you $10 a month.

I bought few packs of these from the recent Coles Deal and the expiry on all my sim packs are May 2014.

I have the Telstra HTC Desire with NextG frequency. And since I ported over to Woolworths mobile, the 3G has been awful!

This is a much better idea to get NextG prepaid, and add data packs if required.

    • you sir have got it figured out. thanks for sharing! hopefully people can stop asking….

Went to Big W in Melbourne QV at 9am and they were sold out.. They said they only had 3 in stock and sold as soon as they opened at 8:30am.

    • I went at 12 and they said they didn't receive stock yet.

    Big W Rockdale sold out.
They called Campsie, Miranda and East Gardens… all sold out!
I think Telstra hasn't supplied Big W with enough packs to satisfy demands.

    • +1

Yes they must have been low in stock, got the last one at Big W at 10.30 a.m

  • sold out at qv Melbourne….

  • brisbane city store sold out, found 2 in calamvale.

    • In Brisbane, Queensland the following stores are sold out as of today:

      • Capalaba
      • Carindale
      • Garden City

50 Starter Kits though are coming in the night before the expiry date of 24th October.

Also tried the micro-sim and ipad SIM starter kits but they wouldn't scan through so the operator wouldn't sell it to me at the cheap price. Telstra would exchange it though free of charge with a regular SIM.

  • Yeh there's a reason why there are always sold out… People just bulk buy.. Guess I miss out and I think kinda defeated the purpose of this promotion..

  • got the last one on the shelf from Warringah Mall.
ridiculous ID check took 10 minutes, ridiculous.

  • Expired now……
