thank you, perfect timing, made the right choice in holding out on Amazon for $171 (from US, non-shield/std case ver).
    Wanted local stock.

How do you get a Student Beans account? I am studying, don't have an EDU email tho.

    • +2

Should you not have an .edu account if you are studying at any institution in Australia?

      • +13

I’m studying the way of the bargain hunter.

  • +1

    Thanks mate got the 2TB

    • +1

      same, cheers op

  • +5

Thanks after student beans and gift card got 2TB for 148.52!

    • How did you stack both ‘HGTNOV’ & Student beans coupon code? It says ‘only voucher can be applied’ at the checkout.

      • +1

I didn't, I used the Student Beans code and the giftcard discount method mentioned in the deal.

        • How did you get the GC discount method?

          • @dockersrule: Check out the last link in the deal description.

            • @Sampo5: Yep, saw that.

Didn't the 6% off the eBay gift cards stop before you got the cards though?

              From that link -
Update: The following gift cards are now excluded from this promotion
              Apple
              Bunnings
              Flight Centre
              eBay
              Amazon

Or did you get them before then?

              • @dockersrule: Buy an exchange gift card which is essentially store credit, then use the credits to buy an ebay gift card. The work-around is described more precisely in that posts comments if I remember correctly.

  • Stacking for 6% doesn’t work

    • Ebay GC was excluded on GC Exchange somehow.

    • Are you saying that you've bought the exchange gift card but you're unable to exchange it for an eBay gift card?

  • Thanks, got a 1TB.

  • HGTNOV code no longer working?

    • It's still working, I ordered one just then.

      • +1

figured it out - I was in the wrong ebay account - i have various regions etc and i wasnt in the AU account! GOT ONE!

  • +1

    Thanks, just ordered the 1T

  • When t7 shield 2tb in red for less than 150$?

    • They don't make them in red so it might be a while. Black, Blue & Beige.

  • Nice deal. I got my 2tb shield from Samsung direct for $159 free delivery after vouchers used and promotions.

  • +1

    thanks, got the 2TB!

  • Why not just buy a NVMe and put it in the enclosure?

    • +5

Might end up almost similar cost at this price?

    • You got any suggestions for a combo?

I also wasn't sure about compatibility as I wanted to buy a 2TB external to use with my Xbox One X. Not sure if NVMe drives would work with Xbox One X?

  • Any good for Tesla sentry / dashcam ?

    • +2

      Yep. Using a 1TB T7 in my M3.

  • +1

Was looking for an SSD for my new XBOX thanks !

  • fk me dead. I bought the $99 one from Amzon

    • +2

Just don't buy a coffee tomorrow and you'll feel better.

  • +1

    Thanks, got a 2TB

  • I had a look but I don't think can get Shopback as well…is that right?

Apologies in advance for the noob question. I don't shop much on eBay.

  • Click and collect only??

    • +1

yes, and we have no Binglee in Tasmania haha.

  • Oh man…. I hesitated about this deal, umming and arring all day.

Finally decided to do it as it was almost sold out. Got the ebay gift card, via a credit from the GC exchange, and went to buy the 2TB version only to find out that it's pickup only…. Sigh… WHAT AN IDIOT….

    Now I have a $158 Ebay gift card I can't use….

    • Get 2x 1tb?

      • Thanks mate but still click and collect unfortunately.

        • +2

Dam that's a shame then :( hopefully something pops up for Cyber Monday

        • Get someone to pick it up for you and then.. post it out?

They are pretty light so postage wouldn't be too expensive?

    • Thanks. Saved my ass.

  • Bought this first SSD drive. Are they more reliable with HDD drive?

  • Delivery option available again, just purchased 1Tb.

  • +2

Phew! Managed to get 2 x 1TB drives, $77 each after the student beans discount.

So that's 2 1TB shields for $144.20 as I'd already got a $158 eBay gift card from the GC exchange at 6% off.

Thanks OP! Pretty happy with that!

  • +1

    Thks OP ordered one

  • STUDENTB20 Not working for me?

    • +1

You’ve to access it via your Student Beans account, and not from the deal posted

  • +1

Thanks grabbed the 1Tb one, My Uni email helps me out again.
    $77 Delivered via Student Beans

  • How long does it take for Bing Lee to ship this usually? Need it quick, but noticed the delivery estimate is pretty long after buying it yesterday.

    • Bought 1tb one yesterday got shipped same day. Estimated eta to melb for me is 29th nov

  • Anyone unable to add to cart? OOS?

    • Click Buy it Now, instead of Add to cart since the delivery stock has sold out

      C&C only now

  • I ordered it on bingle eBay on 25 nov. I am in melb and still not yet shipped. Anyone got update?

  • +1

2TB is now $298 on Bing Lee @ eBay

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/155176427107

    • Literally just got to JB and missed it

  • I tried ordering one yesterday, but it said it didn't deliver to my location. Is that because the delivery stock sold out? I sent them a message yesterday, but got no reply back.

  • Anyone received theirs and its particularly dusty? Feels like I got a return stock…

    • I think that's just how they are due to the rubber cutter case.
YT unboxing looked very similar also..
imo they should have put it inside a plastic sleeve inside of the box, but its not the end of the world.
So long as it was all sealed should be OK

      • Yeah, looking on YT seems to be normal. Initially seemed sketchy but I guess thats how it is due to the construction

  • Sold out.

When you try and add this to the cart for C&C it says there's no stock available.

    • +1

Try clicking on Buy it Now instead of Add to Cart

      • +1

        Thanks! That actually worked!! 🤩🤩

  • I've ordered 2 of these and.. just got a text saying they are ready for pickup.

It worked out to $87 for each one (had to order separately).

The store sells them for $178 and Officeworks sells them for $209!

It seems a great deal for ~$90 ea..

    • Picked the drives up. Have plugged one into partner's 2020 iMac and it's seen as a USB 3.1 (10Gbps) connected drive.

It seems to be working pretty well - definitely recommended.

Obviously wish the deal on the 2T was still there but it's more expensive than 2 x 1T so..

  • I just saw a bargain and bought it only to realise it's a portable SSD, not internal. Is it worth taking out of the cover to install or better return and buy a new one?

    • +1

I don't know how easy it would be to disassemble but it's a standard nVME 2280 SSD internally so you could reuse it - but the value is really as an external SSD and you should be able to resell it for pretty much what you paid for it given how good the value/deal is..

  • It looks like the HGTNOV code has now expired.
