  • Is the warranty global? I'm moving to Canada in June. Might be worth holding off, or buying then not activating till I get to Canada

    • +1

      Nope, not global.

    • dji care is global. you could always buy it here and sell it before you go and purchase another there

      • Is this a good price? I'm in no rush since I already have two other drones, but would definitely like to pick this one up before I go. I think finding deals in Canada is going to be tougher than Australia

        • +1

I'd expect better deals to come along before June with this drone only being released 2 months ago - maybe EOFY deals if you're here long enough.

        • +1

If you do decide to buy here, do so within 60 days of departure, get a tax invoice in your name and you can claim your GST back at the airport: https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

  • This worth the upgrade from the 3?

    • +1

It has omni-directional obstacle avoidance. So, definitely worth the upgrade based on this feature alone.

Had a 3, now got a 4. Yep. I got about $850 on eBay for my Mini 3 Pro via a 10 day auction that I started at $1.

@seamonkey I bought the Air 2S combo. Any advice on the best RC for it please? One that works without issues as I plan to use it to Fiji where DJI support is zero . Many thanks.

        • +1

@FBI For the DJI Air 2S, especially considering your need for reliability in a location with limited DJI support, the Air 2S is compatible with a few different controllers, each offering unique features:

          1. DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller: This is the standard controller that typically comes with the Air 2S. It's known for its reliability and integrates well with the drone. You need to attach your smartphone to it for the display.

          2. DJI Smart Controller: A more advanced option, the DJI Smart Controller comes with a built-in screen, eliminating the need for a smartphone. This can be a great choice for convenience and ease of use. Its bright display is useful for sunny conditions.

          3. DJI RC Pro (also known as Smart Controller V2): This is an upgraded version of the Smart Controller with a better display, more powerful hardware, and longer battery life. It's compatible with the Air 2S and is an excellent choice if you're looking for the most advanced option available.

When choosing a controller, consider these factors:
          - Reliability: All DJI controllers are generally reliable, but the simpler RC-N1 has fewer components that could fail. (I'm not a fan as I need a built in screen, attaching a phone is hard no for me)
          - Convenience: If you prefer an all-in-one solution, the Smart Controller or RC Pro with built-in screens are great.
          - Cost: The Smart Controller and RC Pro are more expensive than the standard RC-N1.

For use in Fiji, a controller with a built-in screen like the Smart Controller or RC Pro might be advantageous, as they are more self-contained and might cope better in various environments without relying on a smartphone. However, the standard RC-N1 should be sufficient if you're comfortable using your phone as the screen.

Remember to check for any firmware updates before your trip to ensure your equipment is up to date. Since you mentioned the lack of DJI support in Fiji, it's crucial to test your equipment thoroughly before leaving.

  • Where is this "Click And Save" button? It doesn't seem to be on the page that you linked.

    • Found it! Bottom right. Time for new glasses!

  • I'm looking to get my first and only drone and a bit stuck with what to get mainly to check my roof and scare away pest birds. Should I get the Mini 4 Pro or Air 3?

    • Got to be careful as a bird can easily impact and crash a drone. Maybe put some laser beams on it….

  • Well, I must be blind. I can't see a click and save button at all. The bottom right of the page is the chat link.

Ready to pull the trigger on mini 4 black friday package, but fomo has me reluctant to miss the deal

    • Ok
      I'm stupid
The click and save button was behind the chat popup

  • I got one on Friday, its really good! I will note, that the extended battery is not included in any mini 4 pro pack… you get the included 3 that give about 25mins MAX because you still need to allow battery for return time. i did about 18 mins of recording on max 4k 60fps around the home and finished with 15% battery on the 249g included batteries. Its $150 for the extended battery with 50% more raw power then the included 3 from the flymore plus pack…

    • Remember that the extended battery pushed the weight of the drone over 250g

This changes the category from micro to very small and comes with more regulation. Not much more in Australia, mainly limiting you more than 5.5km from airports. In Europe, it's much more stringent, so if you're going to be taking your drone overseas you need to check.

Note - these figures are from memory so if I'm wrong, please correct me 😁

      • +1

        Figures look good to me.

At the moment! With that drone caught flying alongside the F-35 yesterday in Adelaide, it'll probably be 50g soon (and manadatory registration, remote ID,…)

    • Is this drone's height limit fixed at 120m in Australia? I know that's the legal limit, but can it be set higher?

I heard in the EU they are making it difficult or impossible to override the 120m limit, the problem is this height is relative to take off point not the ground.

      • Currently settable to a max of 500m from take off point.

Not 100% sure if it's staying that way here, or from January DJI is limiting them all to 120m with the ability to unlock back to 500m if outside the EU.

        • Okay thanks for confirming. It would be incredibly annoying to hit an artificial ceiling because you happen to be standing at the bottom of valley or hills.

          • +1

@cerealJay: Imagine tracking yourself on a bushwalk up a mountain, having to land and take off again every few hundred metres, even worse for national parks as you can't take off or land in them.

Or getting fined for flying over a valley.

            • +1

@Janko: Very good point. Tracking would quickly become painful for walks up mountains.

Putting aside the national parks rules to illustrate the point, I made this quick elevation image of Hobart showing what 120 metres looks like. Near sea level it would take awhile to reach 120m, but on steep terrain 120m is a short distance.

  • Would you please screenshot where you are finding the 1699 price with the 2 year DJI care refresh included. Clicking the ‘click&save’ reveals no such option nor can they be selected as two seperate things and added to the quote. Or confirm that you are doing a quote with just the DJI mini 4 fly more and they are adding the refresh on the quote without you requesting it.
