Looking for Reviews of MSI Prestige 14 Evo B13M 14" FHD i7 16GB RAM 1TB Business Laptop

Hi All,

I am looking for some reviews of MSI Prestige 14 Evo B13M 14" FHD i7 16GB RAM 1TB Business Laptop

I found a good deal to buy this laptop in $1410 from https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-prestige-14evo-b13m-14-i7-1…

Does anyone recommend this laptop brand with IPS screen at this price point? I am bit skeptical about screen which says 4" FHD+ IPS-Level display at 100% sRGB. Best part is that the centre.com is offering 3 years of warranty.

Thanks in advace.

  • MSI are ok. I was looking at one of their 14” gaming laptops on the weekend but the battery life was a huge let down. Everything else was good. Pulled the trigger on a 14” Lenovo legion slim instead with Black Friday sale and upgraded the ram to 32gb & HDD to 1TB for around $80 in total

  • I have ordered this. Yet to receive it. Specs looks good. But the warranty is 2 years i think. Make sure centrecom actualy offer 3 year warranty. It may just be a typo.

    • The one you ordered has 13th Gen i5 with 512gb SSD whereas the one I posted has 13th gen i7 with 1 TB SSD.

      • yeah I know. Its basically the same laptop with i5 13500h and 512gb HDD. I dont need i7 and 1TB HDD is cheap anyway.

        • Centrecom has clearly mentioned 3 years of Warranty on this specific model, but I'll anyway call them just to confirm. I am still thinking on the screen whether I should go with FHD-IPS screen or look for OLED screen options.

          • +1

@momo21: All the reviews on youtube says MSI has good bright IPS screen (450 nits). I personally dont need higher resolution. Full HD is good enough for me. I guess if you watch a lot of movies on laptop OLED might be better. Also then there are cons with OLEDs like image retention and poor battery life. I would have pulled the trigger for an OLED laptop but those are Lenovo Yogas and Acers. I dont like those two brands. I have had bad experience with them. Having said that, OLED screens do look gorgeous.

The Prestige models are good but only considered deals when around $1K

Also, the H series CPU's now being used are 48W power guzzlers with heat to match

Currently available alternatives are the $1K VivoBook with bright OLED 600nit screen and balanced $900 Yoga Slim 6i

  • I have the A12M 13.3" version. Screen is great, quite bright, though I'd say the 1440/1600p laptop models from other brands are nicer to go for if available, they seem to be more common these days.

Note the larger 14" versions come with smaller batteries usually - 75Wh on the 13" but 50 or 60ish on the 14"? So I don't know if the battery life would be as good.

Build quality is lovely though, Magnesium chassis is very stiff.
