I secured one for a colleague from https://www.jw.com.au/product/cherry-mx-2-0s-rgb-gaming-keyb…

A note, they are very hollow sounding and loud - a reverberating tone that resonates through the whole keyboard (for office use by a non-enthusiast touch typer). I had to install o-rings and install polyfill and added some rubber dampening mat. It sounds great now.

It is definitely not a keyboard entusiasts keyboard but I am sure you would already know that given Cherry's position/image/performance amongst enthusiast options

  • Got the 2.0s nbl one from a previous deal at OW, but the bright overhead LED lighting in our office makes it hard to see the letters.
Managed to arrange a price beat with OW for the RGB version now!

    • Yes, the keycaps are shinethrough and no backlighting makes them nearly illegible. The keycaps are quite hollow sounding too, possibly because of this shine through arrangement

anyone care to explain the difference?

    • MX 2.0S $69.99
    • MX 3.0S $89.99
    • MX 10.0 $149.99
  • is this hot swap?

    • No, otherwise it would most likely be advertised as such.

      • do you know if the springs are gold or silver?

        • Why do you ask?

          • @dainese: i just want to know what im buying. see if they are the old switches or new switches. no one wants old stock. fresh is best.

            • @Hugh G Rection: I think you're barking up the wrong tree with this keyboard if you're tracking manufacturing differences where Cherry have changed spring colours. That's all. The board I got was a late 2022 manufacturing date. I don't believe they are lubed or whether Cherry have done anything special in manufacturing of their standard swtiches of late so not really sure what you're chasing.

To me, you might be better placed looking for a nice budget, fully custom board and not this boring pre-built thing.

It was relatively easy to open this up and its really basic. No plate, nothing. just two top and bottom pieces, PCB. I wouldn't even call the switches that smooth (typical Cherry)

              • @dainese: that's true, that is great advice. i think i will looking for something else.
i would like a pc or pom plate with foam on the bottom and middle.
a metal case would be nice, but i think that would make it really expensive.
i think i will pass on cherry and give the gat black inks a try.

                thanks mate.

                • @Hugh G Rection: PM me if you like. I have a few mechanical keyboards I can offload as they're excess/surplus to me. No more Gat inks. Sold them 160 of them a couple months ago

                  • @dainese: Got any 75% or TKL boards? Wanting to pickup one. Cheers

@CrispyChrispy: No, sorry only have 65% boards. Maybe have a look for a GMMK Pro on FB marketplace as they come up quite cheap

If ever you want to be confused about a product, look at conversions about mechanical keyboards.

  • Picked up the 2.0S with red switches from OW. Without the accompanying software the default RGB options are a bit limited. Good thing is it seems the keyboard stores any changes made with the software, so you don't need to have it running to get keep the effect you like. The keyboard's white profile has more of a blue hue. As mentioned by @dainese its a bit hollow. I can only compare it against my Corsair k68 at home which has a much better sound and quality feeling. (The K68 does not store profiles onboard!) This 2.0S would be fine for office work for me.

  • My MX 10.0 RGB just arrived, comes in a metal case, Keyboard feels solid and weighty, then again i havent had this level of keyboard for gaming, current keyboard is a Logitech G213 which is okay….
