Too many diff types of Nulon Full Synthetic Oils these days. Was good when only one or two to choose from and fit my vehicle. Seems the one that does now is rarely on sale. Not a bad deal for those compatible.

    • This oil has been good to my honda

    • Too many diff types of Nulon Full Synthetic Oils these days

Not only Nulon but unfortunately all manufacturers are adopting this marketing BS practice.
Carefully check the 30 is red on SupercheapAuto while it's blue on Nulon web page.

What do you mean confusing and misleading labels ?

Oil is specified by specific standards. This oil on the Supercheap page meets the following :

      General Motors GM Dexos1® Gen2 approved License D120AGDC075, GM4718M, GM6094M
      Ford Ford WSS-M2C929-A, M2C946-A, M2C946-B1, M2C961-A1
      Chrysler MS 6395
      Fiat 9.55535-CR1

If your engine needs an oil that meets one of those standards, then this is the oil for you. It doesn't matter what colour the logos are.

If your engine needs an oil that meets a standard not listed here, then this is not the oil for you.

One of my cars needs a low-SAPS oil, so I can't use this. But I can use Penrite C3 instead.

          They are different specs:
          Blue: APEX+ 5W-30 FUEL EFFICIENT
          Red: APEX+ 5W-30 LONG LIFE
Each is manufactured to meet different manufacturer specifications. On the Nulon page for each of them, scroll down to the specification sections, which states 'Meets or exceeds the following vehicle manufacturer's specifications'.
See your vehicles Owners Manual to check which specification is required for your car.

        • I'm not upset, you haven't offended me, and I'm not at work 😁

I was just pointing out that all oils are different - there are loads of 5W30 grade on the market. But they are not all the same - you need to use the ones that meet the specs for your engine.

    • +1

They probably do this so you can't price match/beat. Since it's slightly different.

  • Is this A3/B4?

    • +2

There is no mention of the ACEA specification on Nulons product page for this product, so i wouldn't use it for your application.
      More info on ACEA here.

    • Is this A3/B4?

I bought a Penrite oil for a Ford car that cost me >$100 when I could buy any certified ACEA oil in the market and they are much cheaper!
I don't believe anymore to all this BS about certified oil for a certain car manufacturer and for a certain model.
Also be ware that mechanics use what they have in stock not what you car's manufacturer suggests!

Apart from low SAPS which protects expensive DPFs over the long term, for most daily drives I agree. Some oil additives do help fuel consumption very marginally but you can save more by improving your driving practices.

Dirt cheap for 6l LL in the current market.

  • Noob question, but think the capacity on my Commo is 6.7L, so guess I need 2 or look for the 10L?

    • +2

Yeah get 2 then next time you only need one.
Or buy 3 then you are covered for a couple of changes.

    • Buy 10x6L bottles and that will get you very close to 9 oil changes with nil left over.

  • +3

$36 then I will consider buying

    • +1

Think you'll be waiting a very long time Soapy. This is 6l and LL oil in case you missed the detail.

      • +6

I can wait 5 years, that's how much stock I have

        • Ha ha. Given recent price rises these (or equivalent) will probably be $15-20/l discount in 2028. Prices may (should) drop off recent "covid" highs but they aren't going backwards in the medium term.

Bought 5x in the deal above haven't started using it yet. That was 5L though.

          • @Springfield: That's a different (usually cheaper) oil.

            • @Igaf: I'll take it for that price any day of the week.

The difference between them is not as big as you think. I'd love to save my money and change oil on time.

              • @dBagDealer: I agree, just comparing apples with apples. LL is usually significantly more expensive if that's the product you want.

            • @Igaf: This is what I ended up being sent.

Fair comment that is not the same, I change the oil regularly so is good for my use case.

    • +1

      Yes, expecting $6 per litre

      • +1

Post it when you see it.

  • Wonder if this LL is compatable with the previous LL (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/389670) as I still have a few litres of that one left..?

    • Should be no problem.

OP's post from 5 years ago as well!

  • Also noticed that AutoBarn have the "Nulon Apex+ 5W30 Multi-23 7L & Diesel Injector Cleaner 300mL" on sale for $48.

    • Where are you seeing that for the Multi-23? Autobarn had is on special yesterday at $79.99 (now $99.99) which I price beat at Supercheap.
