  • Is this better than those $30 ones on Amazon?

    • +1

I've been using one of these for a few years now. Works great.
Don't have any experience with the Amazon ones so can't say if they're better.

      • how long until you need to replace the batteries?

        • +2

It probably depends how often you use it but I think they last me at least 3 months, maybe 6 months.

          • @P3TR0: What types of soap you can fill? Can you select how much you want each time?

            • +3

@amsaini15: It takes any type of liquid hand soap that's not foaming.
You simply lower your hand to stop it dispensing when you have enough soap otherwise it dispenses a set amount.

@P3TR0: Thanks mate. Sounds good for a try. Bought.

I found them terrible, they clogged up too often and you had to clean them out. Batteries seem to go flat every month (we used rechargeables)

Not a patch on the blue defunct Dettol ones which they replaced. The batteries later 6+mths.

      • +2

You meant the ones from Amazon are terrible or this Kmart one?

        • this kmart one. never tried the Amazon ones

  • +4

Using it for some months. Works perfectly with all liquid soap

  • i bought a branded one actually 5 and returned all 5

  • Does this have an infa red sensor or a motion sensor? (ie can you wave a sponge or any such object and it will dispatch liquid or does it require a hand)

    • +5

      Ok that's a good question.
I just tested mine by putting a sponge under it and it works. No need to have your hand under it. Hope that helps.

How much do the batteries last? Had one of these more than 15 years ago and constantly changing the batteries was a PITA.

Also, can you regulate how much soap is dispensed? Currently have a manual one and 1 single "pump" provides way too much soap, so I had to put a stopper under the pump so it would stop midway being pumped.

    • +4

The batteries last quite long on this. I haven't noticed having to change them often.
It doesn't regulate how much soap is dispensed, but I simply lower my hand when the amount is enough and it stops dispensing.
(It does dispense a set amount that I find is a bit too much also.)

      • +1

Ah, great to know about the dispensing. The one i had did a fixed dose, no matter how long you held your hand underneath.

  • Damn, we switched to foaming soap

    • Are you using automatic dispenser?

      • +2

No, but I’m on the lookout for one!

        • +4

I have this one, uses any foaming soap. Bought as my Son is at the age where this helps a lot

          https://www.bunnings.com.au/estilo-350ml-sensor-soap-dispens…

6 months in, still working but either needs a clean or new batteries as I need to double dose often

Bought it despite the reviews as it seemed many didn't know it needs to be used with foaming liquid

          • @Pesos: I’ll tip my hat to that, thanks!
Only $16 and from Bunnings so if anything goes wrong I can just complain.
Would you know if it works with rechargeable batteries?

            • @Commodore64: Haven't tried sorry, didn't feel comfortable risking around liquid 🙃
Existing batteries haven't been exposed from what I can see, so might use my LADDAs next change over

  • Wish these were foaming

  • There are foaming ones available on Ali express but this will be good cheap start to automatic dispenser.

Have used these for about a year now - been OK

Tried some body wash in it but didn't really like that-but used many types of liquid hand soap and it takes them OK

Batteries I don't let them run flat since use rechargeable anyway - swap them maybe every 3 months or so

  • ooh are people still comparing these to the xiaomi ones?

  • +1

I don’t get the point of these? Sure, you don’t need to touch the top of the soap dispenser to get soap (which would be covered in germs), but if you’re putting soap on your hands you’re obviously about to wash your hands so why does it matter?

A motion tap would make much more sense so you don’t have to turn of the tap after washing your hands (making them dirty straight after cleaning). I use a paper towel to turn of the tap so I don’t need to touch it.

    • Are you guys shitting on your taps ? Why are they dirty ?

      • Think about it. You wash your hands because they're dirty, right?

        1. To turn on the tap you need to touch it with your still dirty hands.
        2. The tap is now dirty because you've touch it with your dirty hands.
        3. You wash you hands and your hands are now clean.
        4. To turn off the tap you then need to touch the tap again (which is now dirty because you touched it prior to cleaning your hands).
        5. Your hands are now dirty again.

These are crap - got 2 and both clogged within a day and the pumps are weak.
Tried different soaps but no good. Hopefully they fixed that.

    • nope same product, and probably why it is on sale as well. lol

  • I have Xiaomi Mijia for a while. Very solid and great design

    • Have you refilled the soap? What did you use? I’m quite impressed with the soap it came with

  • Saw it in store, light as a feather horrible quality.

  • The thing that i dont like with this is the battery compartment is at the bottom. So there is a higher risk of water seeping into battery compartment and damaging those area (which happened to mine), if your sink surface is often wet.

It also dispenses a set amount that are a bit too much. So if you have a younger toddler, most likely it would be a soap overload/spills everywhere. Back to point 1 above which was why we needed to clean our sink often from soap spills.

  • How doess this compare to the Xiaomi soap dispenser?
