    $39 a week ago

    • That was the Evo Plus too, so faster.
I got one and its been great.

      • +6

The EVO plus and EVO select are identical. EVO select is just an Amazon branded EVO plus.

        • Ahh I was looking at the 64gb Evo Select stats, not the 512gb.

Thx OP . Bought one for my blah blah blah??!!

What's the difference between Samsung EVO Select and EVO Plus?

Best answer: There is no discernable difference between the Samsung EVO Select and the Samsung EVO Plus — they are rebranded versions of the same SD Card, and Amazon has exclusive rights to the EVO Select name.

  • Good to see these getting cheaper and cheaper

    Good for switch?

    • +3

Great for Switch. Anything under 2TB (the limit the Switch can support) is great for Switch.
The Switch has slower memory bandwidth than the absolute slowest modern microSD cards so the speed won't matter.

Thanks! I got one for steam deck a while back and wanted to ensure I could mix Max switch as well. Pity it doesn't have a better reader but whatevers I'm figuring it out still

  • When i run the full read & write test on the new cards, they run real burning hot. Is this normal? Will it cause damage to the cards. I stopped after having felt the heat and never could finish the test. Only manage to perform the short test.

    • +1

I'd say entirely fine. burning hot is probably ~ 70c, that's a good temp for writing. higher temp writing, lower temp storage is best case scenario for NAND.

  • I’ve had soo many Amazon orders been returned to sender recently and I think it’s bs… not sure what’s going on but out of 10 orders, 5 have been returned to sender. When called they said they were lost in transit. All sold from Amazon directly
Has anyone else had this recently ? I’m skeptical of ordering more things now -_\ keen on these sd cards. Though.

    • Two so far!

    • I've just had something undelivered recently and had to get them to do a refund. First time ever :-/

    • Well worst case scenario you get refunded or sent another so no biggie.. but if you have a collection point nearby (or better an amazon locker) then that would be your safest bet.

    • Is your address hard to find? Complex unit? Hard to access? No parking?

      • First time I’ve ever had an issue since they did business in Australia…

  • Are they good for security cameras?

    • Yes. I have 4k Reolink camera which requires a V30 card. This would be suitable

    • +1

They'll work. some security cameras continuously record, and the manufacturers have certain kinds that are able to deal with that. Itll potentially kill normal cards over time quite quickly. You should go for an "Endurance" card really. They won't be this price though.

Previous deal the delivery person threw them 3 metres onto concrete in an envelope. Would u risk losing that amount of data ? Wa refunded tho as on camera

    • +5

It’s in bubble wrap dude and has like zero mass.

      • +2

Yeah I wouldn't be worried about that all. You should assume that much worse happens to all packages en route anyway.

    • Straight up scammer.

I am guessing 130mb read is too slow for Dji drone?

Need over 180mb for 4k drone?

    • You should double check the requirements of your drone… keep in mind that Mb != MB. Also read speeds are the wrong speeds to look at, instead you should be looking at write speeds for video recording.

If you haven't specified the model of your drone and just know that it's 4K then 99.99% chance the EVO Select/Plus cards are already more than enough.

180 Mb/s = 22.5MB/s. Samsung EVO is V30 rated which means that it will support sustained recording with minimum of 30MB/s, well above the 22.5 required.

If you've splashed a ridiculous amount of money on something that can actually record at 180MB/s… then you wouldn't be looking at these cards and should have already spent well into the hundreds/thousands on memory cards already lol.
