  • They had a 20% off deal when buying 2 or more cards and it stacked with the $60 off code. Might be worth trying to make an offer could possibly get 10% off? Very likely ex mining cards.

    • So are you saying you could get 2x this for $411.20 each?

      • I think it was a little more than that at the time in cart maybe around $450 each.

        • That's a pretty good deal

          • +4

            @dnvrngts: It was $649x2= $1298
            $1298 x 0.8 = $1038.4 (20% off for 2 cards)

            $1038.4 - $120 ($60 ebay code applied to each)

            $918.4 / $459.20 each

I have also messaged and asked if they will discount and they said yes, I assume you would still be able to apply eBay codes. I just didn't post due to lack of stock and always on my phone so couldn't make a list.

"they had" = time machine required

You might still be able to get the 20% off or even more on multiple cards just have to message them, it was a seller ran deal and I messaged them after I hadn't pulled the trigger if they would still discount and they said yes and asked how many cards I wanted. Still worth a try if you're interested.

I grabbed one of these about a month ago from this seller @ about $600.

A bit of coil whine, but otherwise no complaints.

    • Have you ran any benchmarks and checked if it scores as it should?

      • -1

        Why wouldn't it?

      • +4

It's a second hand card, so yes, of course - it has been run through various 3d mark benchmarks and scored as it should. But more importantly ran them as stress tests for stability. As said, no complaints. Standard disclaimer though, I'm just some name on a forum here, ymmv.

        • Nice, I was just wondering because obviously some cards are ran harder than others and the seller definitely had lower stock recently so not sure where they're continuing to get stock from.

Let me expand a bit -

Condition is as described, very good. No signs of dust or grime, no "rust" on any of the exposed metal (i.e. the back bracket or the heat sink). Was packed in original box - with card in an anti-static bag and a manual in the box. I think only negative with how it arrived was that it might have been clear wrapped + label so it was obvious what was being sent - but I'm not 100% sure that was the case (it was like a month ago).

Only other "issue" would be that I'm not 100% sure how the "Jan 2025 Warranty" would be handled. i.e. It did not come with any original purchase documentation. I was going to follow up on that but never got around to it.

Otherwise it has been running nightly and hasn't had any issues running games and/or 3d modelling in blender, etc.

Any comments with ex mining cards? Does this sort of thing workings stable?

    • +1

I think it depends on the person mining, I used my 6800 XT for mining (ETH) when I wasn't playing games (so, 80% or so mining).. turned down core clock but boosted memory, fans at 100% and the side panel was off for good airflow. Temps sat at ~50C (I assume memory would be higher but couldn't measure). Did that for 2 years or so and now my oldest has it in his computer for gaming and it performs exactly as it should.
On the other side of the coin, I've seen some graphics card repair channels where there's discoloration of the board from excess heat and physical damage from mining but I feel that's from people pushing the cards beyond their limits to maximise profit at the expense of longevity.. tsk tsk

  • I paid $599 for a brand new gigabyte RX 6800 XT from centrecom 12 months ago.

    • Nice that's a good price and it will be a good card for years to come

      • +13

Turns out I'm an idiot, and it was a RX6700 XT.

        Apologies for misleading.

lmao you had me searching price history websites and hating myself for getting a used 6800 non-XT last week for $459

  • I grabbed a used, ex-mining RX 6800 (not XT) from Metrocom recently for ~$450 ish.

The first one they sent me was a dud and would post, but wouldn't actually display from any of the ports.

They sent me a replacement straight away, and that replacement worked instantly. Thank (profanity) for that.

The card itself, did not come in original box but came well packaged and in an anti-static bag (unlike the first one they sent, at least).
They both came in really good condition. No dust at all, though the first one had a little erosion or something near the display ports.

The working card runs great, no issues with coil whine or noise at all. Performs great too

I know this is a different seller but thought it was worth mentioning since mine and this one are both used cards

    • You must have gotten the guy who knew how to pack a gpu and ship haha my 6800xt from metrocom was just loose in the box wrapped in bubble wrap… It was in perfect condition luckily but they must have 1000s of them to not give a crap about postal damage… Anyway works very well so far.. So can't complain.

Got it for $569 so not sure if this a deal nearly a year later… 🤷

      • I couldn't decide between the 6800 for $459 and the 6800 XT for $579 (or whatever it was) and then the 6800 XT listing was gone so the decision was made for me.

I think it's a good deal regardless. And yeah maybe whoever packed my first one was a bit lax haha but the second one was chef's kiss

        • For the price, the 6800 is a great deal if playing at 1080 or 1440p

          • @dnvrngts: Agreed, it's working beautifully for me so far with my new 3440x1440 165hz monitor playing WoW (Retail, WotLK and Classic because I'm indecisive) and Path of Exile. Neither of which are very demanding but my 3060 8gb was struggling with them a bit

  • almost bought one, but then saw 3x8pin power connectors. oops! time for a new PSU - only got 2 on mine

    • It's not absolutely necessary. I had a 3080 ti with only 2x8pins. Just buy the ones that suit.

    • if you're game enough to cheap out with 2x molex -to- 8pin power , Y adaptor

  • +1

Just a heads up, I have saved this ad for a week and got an offer from this seller for AU $639.56. So if you are interested, offer this amount and then apply your discount code if the seller accepts

  • There's a few 3080's floating around FB for around $650 ish. I reckon if the seller has the original invoice with balance of warranty, happy to test and can haggle a little, the 3080 is the go for me although less VRAM than the 6800XT
