Thanks, I sent a copy to Albo

    • How come?

      • +26

        An unhealthy fixation

      • his life is so empty that albo lives rent free in his head

    • +5

He let’s his Airbus do the talking :P

      • I'm pretty sure his Airbus doesn't talk, otherwise he'd let it look after the messy business of dealing with corrupt, attention-seeking Pacific leaders.

If his Airbus had KITT-style powers, Albo would be at home focusing on domestic politics (as he'd surely prefer to do), instead of going to a succession of painful meetings with tin-pot leaders that his advisors from DFAT have insisted he needs to attend.

        • that his advisors from DFAT have insisted he needs to attend

And he just does what they say? Who is the boss here?

          This sums up the problem.

          • @1st-Amendment:

And he just does what they say? Who is the boss here?

"I'm the PM, I'm not going to meet any pesky Pacific leaders, I'm the boss! The Australian people don't like me to be overseas!".

            … a year later ….

"Why did the government let the Solomon Islands sign a deal for a Chinese naval base? Why wasn't the PM overseas lobbying to stop that?".

Things aren't a simple as "everyday common sense" suggests they are. I'd rather the PM focus on Australia's geopolitical interests first and the optics of politics second.

Geopolitics in the Pacific are escalating right now. We need every advantage we can get, and if some glad-handing by the PM helps, then that's time better spent by him than doing the rounds of breakfast TV and shock jock radio.

            • @axyh:

Lol, how about the people that he's paid to represent? When do they get a run?

Why do you have such a hard-on for someone who is clearly incompetent at their job?

And don't just take my a word for it, most people now realise that he sucks at his job: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/nov/28/most-…

              • @1st-Amendment: I'm not for Albo, just against people who think simplistically and ignore geopolitical realities, in favour of some kind of plebeian, ignorant "pub test".

                  Which no-one here did…

You specifically said that Albo only travels so much because other people are telling him to. This is not a leader, this is a follower…

      • No no, Mr Joyce lets his Airbus' do the talking for him

Simple stuff I learned from Inigo Montoya in "The Princess Bride":

    • Lead with a polite greeting. "Hello"
    • Introduce yourself. "My name is Inigo Montoya"
    • Establish context or connection to the other person. "You killed my father"
    • Set the tone and purpose of the encounter "Prepare to die"
  • This book cured me of autism

    • If it's the same tips from How To Win Friends, which is to let the other person do 95% of the talking about themselves, then there will be a lot of silence. Which might be nice tbh.

      • If it's the same tips from How To Win Friends, which is to let the other person do 95% of the talking about themselves

You clearly didn't read the book…

I don't think people would want to hang around for a chat after you've sniffed their face.

  • Does it work on me-monsters, one uppers and external locust of controllers?

I followed this book's advice to strike up a conversation with a lonesome tattooed fellow on the Newcastle-Sydney train service.

Now I need a follow-up DIY book on how to replace my teeth and fix my broken nose.

  • Some of the branch Covidians need this

  • noooooooooooo missed it!
    forever introvert

  • I missed it.
    I would have bought it.
Trouble is that I have a very large collection of books that I haven't read.
Maybe I need a book on how to read books?
    No, that won't work.

  • Great book for the ozbargainers who are stuck on their screens and never go out
