Keep you local sim in a spare phone, buy another sim while you are there

Or if you have a newer phone with esim capability leave your regular sim in and get an esim for your trip - phone can run on both at the same tim

don't how to to advise for a roaming sim if you plan to just have it for your local banking (unless you plan on moving your number to a specific provider just for this holiday?). I just turned on my Aussie sim for a couple mins (with data off) for a couple mins each time i needed to get an authentication code and got no extra charges (Woolworths Mobile).

Just get a local sim there. Was there a couple of months ago and CMB airport doesn't have ATM facilities (might be a rip off ATM somewhere inside) in the arrivals terminal area, so either have some local LKR or USD in cash as they weren't taking card at the time. There's ATM's just outside the departures entrance, but with security at both departures and arrivals checking all entrants, good luck getting back in after you leave the building (I'm of Lankan descent, so just told the security officers that my family was still inside and showed my Passport and ticket. Don't think a 'non-Lankan' foreigner will have any luck getting back inside)

  • Telstra and Boost support vowifi which lets you call and receive sms without paying anything extra
For calls of vowifi you need to be connected with wifi and you can make calls like a local australian number to any other australian number

      Telstra and Boost support vowifi

      So do many others

      • Not free of cost though

Telstra and Boost aren't free services either… You need to pay for a plan.

          • @jv: Op is asking for best International Roaming package to get . I dont think he is asking for anything free

            • @urahara: You mentioned Telstra and Boost and the are not the cheapest.

              • @jv: You can recommend something which has free international roaming and is cheap

                • @urahara: I get free international data roaming with the 28 degrees card, then make calls using wi-fi calling.

  • give some advice re best International Roaming package to get ?

    Just use payphones.
