  Does anyone know of receivers with amps for subs? I already have a passive sub and I don’t really want to buy a new one. Failing that does anyone know of good cheap sub amps?

    class d are cheap and excellent quality, to get rated power you'll need 24v psu

    you can get them in mono quite cheap

  What do people recommend on a budget for 5.1.2 atmos? Preferrably slightly older with a second hand market.

    In terms of budget, I think whether you want HDMI 2.1 or not for current gen consoles (4k@120 passthrough) is a big factor in what’s going to be available at what price.

      Will only be used via earc, no devices running through it. Just needs to be new enough that it has Atmos (2016?), none of the passthrough bells and whistles.

        In which case maybe have a look on gumtree at what’s available if you’re ok buying second hand? Last I looked there for receivers it looked like a good few people were selling hdmi 1.4/2.0 models who had looked to upgrade (presumably to 2.1).

          @Smigit: I sit on marketplace and gumtree reguarly, unfortunately anything under $600 does not have atmos (at best, ProLogic IIz). but will keep at it, something will show eventually.

    Budget and Atmos receiver hard to throw into the same sentence currently. Yamaha RX-V6A has crashed in price a fair bit, Selby doing them for a tad over $800 on eBay. I have one, very happy with it.

  Does anyone know if the Audyssey setup does anything meaningful or is it predominately a gimmick?
  I picked up an AVR-1713 secondhand yesterday but it didn't come with the setup microphone.
  They go for about $55 on ebay.
