Kingston 120GB SSD Now V+ 200, Sandforce2 SATA 3 $78.95 + Shipping @ ShoppingSquare

180

Cheaper than same drive results on staticice as far as I can tell and shipping to Brisbane is $10 which is reasonable.

More importantly, I don't see any sign of this being an international import, usually when they are shipping from overseas, there's notes at the bottom of the page that go on about direct shipping etc so hopefully they might actually have stock of this and shipping times may actually be decent.

Shipping - Checked a few post codes, it's $9.99 to Perth, Darwin, Wagga Wagga and Alice Springs so it's a fair bet to say it's a flat shipping rate. If you find otherwise, please mention it.

Further indication that it may be AU stock - 3 Years Warranty in Australia and Estimated Handling Time: 1 - 2 Working Days (if that means anything)

120GB (SVP200S3/120G)

  • Sequential Reads - 535 MB/s
  • Sequential Writes - 480 MB/s
  • Sustained Random 4k Read - 20,000/44,000 IOPS
  • Max Random 4k Read - 85,000/55,000 IOPS

But MSY sells the "SVP200S3" for $85
    http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

    • Not everyone has an MSY around the corner and I don't believe they'll ship stuff, will they? I avoid them wherever possible so I don't know much about them despite them being everywhere around BNE.

      • An MSY around the corner would have to be Adelaide, MSY was accessible from most parts in VIC and I live 10mins from an MSY in Brisbane, Sydney not so much, ACT & WA can suffer for all I care… lol :P

        • ACT have MSY thank you

        • I know, 1 MSY…, T'was a joke !

Edit: If you don't already know, I eat -negs for breakfast, so you neging the facts makes no difference… lol

Edit: Let me just ad, Xbox 360 Sucks Balls !

        • Twasn't me that negged, I've been out. I'll + to prove!

        • Foobar, I really don't care anymore, this has become more of a game for me, flare and watch me grow…, besides you added a +ve to the wrong post, damn it…! lol

          Troll attempt: FAILED !

        • You know I didn't even notice that one of my posts up there got negged, and five of them at that. Not like what I said isn't correct. How bizarre.

Once something has started getting negs, it becomes a magnet for more it seems. I swear people just see something has been negged and join it without reading. Funny :)

Anyway, no one answered this - MSY don't ship, do they? I'm sure we'd see a lot more deals here from them if they did.

        • Hell I'll confuse their little minds and +ve this deal… rofl

EDIT: Yea they actually do ship as per this policy.
          http://msy.com.au/ShippingPolicy.htm

          P/H: $9~

        • Wonder why we don't see more MSY deals then, they often have the best price and if shipping is 9 bucks flat (TBC), that's not bad at all.

        • -2

Because umart has better pricing than MSY

        • Ah, 'twas I that gave you a neg, hun*, not to troll you but because it costs more to get it from MSY shipped. I know your price was for instore, but there's also a limited number of stores for MSY to make it a bargain for everyone. But if I lived near one I would be getting it from a MSY store for sure.

*This is not me mocking or patronising you. I'm one of those people who uses "hun" and "love" and "dude" and so forth as terms of endearment. Apologies if it offends.

Bindi hun, just chill, ta !

        • "Apologies if it offends."

Probably depends if you are really female :)

        • No flat rate shipping from MSY for this duck, foobar :(

        • +1

Fingers crossed, jdr, test results come in on Monday ;p

        • The S3 is also a 7mm drive and comes with an adaptor to make it compatible with 9mm sized enclosures as well.

        • At least you don't have to travel 637km to get to an MSY store.

That's great for people who live in their States Capital City or larger cities (or Tassie), but for the rest of us shipping is a deal maker or breaker. Thanks OP.

      • "Or Tassie"was meant to go after "the rest of us" Sorry.

I umm and ahh about each and every one of them, should I post this or not, is it a decent enough deal etc. Just as I finish up the deals ready for posting, I reload the new deals and almost hope some of the times that someone else has posted it (happened once).

I know this isn't the greatest deal ever, but it's decent and for those that are out in the sticks, the delivered price of this at the moment from this vendor seems reasonable. I don't know how much it will cost to send to obscure places, hopefully it's $9.99 flat to everywhere.

Checked a few post codes, it's $9.99 to Perth, Darwin, Wagga Wagga and Alice Springs so it's a fair bet to say it's a flat shipping rate.

  • I paid $79 for mine at MSY (10min walk for me)

Excellent SSD, super fast and my motherboard is only Sata 2. Gets 7.6 for the windows experience score.

    • For a standard branded kingston (not a hyper) the numbers are staggeringly good.

  • Wouldn't trust this SSD. Uses the old sandforce controller which is know to have issues. Good brands are Intel, Crucial, Samsung and Sandisk.

    • Did I miss a memo? when/how did sandisk get promoted?

    • +1

I think you are mistaken. V+ 200 uses the same sandforce controller as Intel 520. It's marketed for business use, so should be reliable enough, though not the fastest.

  • Dumb question sorry… but do I need some kind of kit/conversion plug if I was to swap this into my laptop? (Dell XPS L401x) or do SSDs use same (sata?) connector?

    • +1

It's just a sata drive, but it is a 7mm one, your lappy will either need a 7mm or 9mm. In this post above, copie says that the drive comes with the adapter to make it fit a 9mm port so you should be golden either way, so long as a 120GB drive is big enough for your requirements.

  • thanks foobar good find have purchased one

  • .

  • Just testing.
