    Something went wrong.

It's basically a competition at this point.

    • -7

      Report as Targeted

  • Getting there…

  • I don't really understand. They make promo but refuse to sell by something is wrong. Do they really defrauded massively so they refuse $12 transaction from customer?
I never get rejection online anywhere but boost

    • Not sure if it caused by telstra and boost upgraded system. Boosts login seems same as telstra now.

    • -1

It's a dishonest promo practice to keep you hooked. By publishing these 'deals' they maintain their mindshare but without having to actually payout the marketing cost. No one honestly believe they can afford to keep running these loss-making deals in an unlimited manner, do you?

    • +1

Telstra hands over boost data and report: Quite many fraudulent alerts on users buying ridiculous amount of new Sims lately. i.e.
      Name A, address AA …

After being flagged, they still try hard to buy more …

  • -3

U opened boost from cash rewards. It is special link from cashrewards. This link cause the error because of limitation.

    • +1

      What?

      • -4

That's why sometimes you cannot buy. Something went wrong after you pay.

    • +1

been tested already. Nothing related to cashrewards. Someone try without CR link but still went wrong. And I use same CR account different email and address can get it works.

      • Bought 4-8 sims on My 1st account then error. Sometimes could buy a few more on my 2nd account. All same details.

  • +1

Thanks, saw it at 100% cashback this morning and will buy a few more now

  • +1

Is anyone else also on the same boat where they purchased a cheap year plan and were relying on these boost sims for data, but have now been blocked from purchasing? Not sure I have enough data to use for half a year after December and not sure what to do when I run out. Any ideas?

    • All people have been blocked are in the same boat as you

    • Do you have a CommBank debit/credit card?

      • 3 months free on More mobile - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/797661
      • 3 months free on More nbn - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/808974

    • we need to active the sim within 30 days of purchase to ger cashback, how can you have enough for half year?
my last boost will expire soon, so I bought 2 woolworths sims earlier with 50% off and 2k ww point ~ $7.5/ea for 80GB ea. also saw lebara sim 70GB for $7 deal yesterday.

      • I meant my own yearly plan data and not boost sims. How long do the data in those deals you bought going to last for?

        • My bad, I did not read that correctly. It depends on my usuage, I dont watch movie a lot, mainly for work and browsing so around 1-2 sim per month.

  • Has anyone ever had a boost sim cashback declined? Or as long as it activates and is tracked its pretty safe?

    • +2

As long as tracked 100% safe as i know

  • +3

Guys don't keep on ordering boost sim for $3-$6 cash as you will eventually hit the limit and won't be able to order for 2-3 months even you need it.
I did a chat with them he explained that they got this restriction in place for repeat users taking advantage of this new customer offer.

    • +6

why don't they just make this clear and stop wasting so many people's time?

      • +1

Exactly. I told him the same.
Then I asked when will the restriction clear?
Answer : when you stop trying buying or activating for 2-3 months.

Where is this written? I told him I am not buying free. You are getting your money so why stop letting people purchase?

        • +7

It's not written anywhere because they're making it up. You can't trust what any CS rep says because they literally don't know.

People can buy 1 (or 0!) sims and get blocked, other people can buy 100’s and not get restricted.

          • +1

            @wavesgreen: exactly

          • -3

@wavesgreen: All those people telling you they have been blocked know they have ordered too many.
Has anyone said here I bought 2 sims only and can't purchase anymore?

            • +1

@amsaini15: People have reported buying any number of sims - including 0 - and can't purchase any more. Go read the past threads.

            • @amsaini15: But how many is too many? Can you tell any numbers? If there is any restrictions, just let people know.
And some people already reported that they get the issue even that’s 1st time they buy Boost sim.

              • @Phong7: I don't have the answer. What I told above is what they told me. I know personally I have purchased too many and hence the issue.
Someone can do a poll and see if most of the people are getting error on their first purchase or 10-20th purchase.

              • @Phong7: For some people, their very first order is already too many. Perhaps they are flagging the whole street, affecting innocent users as well.

                • +1

@nguyenlucky: I feel like since the new financial year round of offers they have flipped a few switches in their fraud detection algorithm so that now it compares a bunch of details and then cross-matches them for "probable" fraud.

So rather than hard matches, it's doing something like, this CC issuer combined with the surname Smith, living on a Brown Street in the postcode range 3000-3200, has been flagged for fraud before so we'll block this transaction from going ahead. That's why newbies are getting pinged.

I dread to suspect that Telstra may even have implemented some new fangled AI into their algorithm to help crack down on people exploiting the deals for profit.

          • @wavesgreen: Yea can confirm this is correct. I last ordered in I think March or April? Then I tried again in November. In between, I didn't order a single SIM (wasn't in Australia). The November orders were all just attempts, i.e. they all failed

          • @wavesgreen: can relate. I need it for data but I got the error after 5 orders so asked my friend to buy but she cant. Error from the first order, not even 1 sim.

    • I've done 17 sims in the last couple of weeks. Bank just paused my card for fraud detection, got it unlocked and straight away got something went wrong…

      • Since i knew this paid boost. Maybe march 2023. I think i already bought almost 100sim cards paid with 3 different credit cards. No prob so far

        • The game is changed now, you cant do that.

      • Lol why are you hoarding boost sims? Free money?

        • Yeah pretty much, taken an hours time to buy them all. Most of them were $6 profit so around $85 profit for an hours work.

Helps me meet minimum spend of my credit card sooner for FF points as well

    • -1

This is why i only buy 1-2 new boost sims per month. Don't be greedy or you will get blocked

      • I did that and still get blocked. One sim per month.

  • Will you definitely lose cashback if you fail to activate SIM within 30 days of ordering?

    • +3

      I wouldn't risk it.

    • +3

I bought a boost sim a few months ago and the cashback tracked and it was approved, even though I didn’t activate the SIM.

      YMMV

      • I was thinking the same question. How can CR track if you are activated or not. Unless boosts pass over the data. But it is impossible, CR only tracks your clicking and payment if successful data. And boots side would never pass any data after you done the purchasing and release the hook from CR.

        • +1

if sim isn't activated BOOST can refuse to pay CR, then CR will not pay you
same if you buy on Amazon and cancel your order, otherwise infinite money hack

boost can link your order ID to activation number on sim pack, CR rep said they're tightening up on this a few months back

          • @mantra: Interesting. Thanks for the info. I always time my purchases so that I activate within 30 days. Don't want to risk a rejected cashback.

  • How can Telstra track credit card details?

New device new ip new name new email and same cc fails… Wtf

    • They can track any of your details. Flagging CC is one of the easiest as they already have a payment verification system in place for purchases. And detecting multiple transactions with the same CC is a basic function of fraud detection software anyway.

      • Thought they can't store cc details?

        • +3

CC can be identified via a hash without storing the details.

    • I can beat that!
New Device, New IP, New Name, New Email, New CC - fail

      • Yep — it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that your address has been flagged by the early retirement AI. But your free Tesla is safely parked in the garage, and they’re not getting that back fo sho

        • Are you also using a new Cashrewards account? Can boost identify/deny you based on your affiliate link you click on CR?

          • @Brick50: it's possible, i'd have thought they'd be transparent regarding that as they blame their payment provider, if that's on Telstra's end they'd be aware affiliate data is being pass/parsed on and have told us this

  • Just ordered one for my next month data usage. No issues at all this time and instant cashback tracking. Cheers

  • Just confirming this works if you already have a Boost monthly plan? My son is on the $35 plan already but it says new customers only. Going by some comments, some of you are existing customers?

    • You need to churn off boost then rejoin.

  • After a month of something went wrong, finally got one with different phone number, different email, different address (add A after unit number) and different CC

  • Affiliate tracking is another identifier that can trap people. You'll need to break the T&Cs to get another account though. I don't really bother with these offers, but it is fun to see we good coders at Telstra/Affiliate marketing team.

I can't say the same for those hostile devs at CBA that cannot take criticism for improving their operational security. I won't go into the exact details but they are still sitting ducks.

  • What's your experience like with the network coverage? Wifey and I switched ours from Optus to the boost 365 pre-paid plan from one of the recent offers and we have nothing but horrible experience. The reception is quite poor in the NSW south area where we live esp in the Hurstville Westfield and airport and south train lines where data is very patchy and barely usable. It's a drastic change of experience compared to Optus that we had and before Optus I was will Telstra and that was also a lot better. Is it the boost network that is capped and throttled coz definitely this is not the same as my Telstra experience. We are now stuck with this yearly prepaid plan that I don't know how to get out of.

    • Boost Mobile uses the full Telstra network. Here, full is defined as a variable part of each tower’s capacity. So if you want the complete Telstra network, then only Telstra can deliver that

    • @ggbhai I've Telstra and Boost in 2 phones and in Perth metro, they are almost similar. Occasionally Boost lags behind

  • Hi guys, I have a problem to fix TODAY to buy this bargain. my app starts popping message saying 'you semm to be using a tracking blocker. please turn off your privacy blocker to ensure the app works properly.' I am my wit's end. Can you please how to solve it? it is android. Ty

    • use mobile data

    • I am my wit's end.

      Brilliant hyperbole!

  • Looks like it's $17 cashback now.
